...the UK is becoming? The scenes in Liverpool were shocking and I fear this is just the beginning.

YY to BluebellFlowersAreMyFave, TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl and others. Why are we ignoring the victims here? I'm very cynical because a lot of the coverage and discussion of the protest has read more like ideological propaganda. The vast majority of people there were peaceful and had a genuine grievance.

BluebellFlowersAreMyFave · 11/02/2023 22:06

@TooBigForMyBoots so you think this ADULT MAN who approached this 15 year old kid in her uniform should be allowed to live in our country in peace? mobile.twitter.com/Justice_forum/status/1623120481510359041

I’ve already posted this but I’ll post it again because you genuinely have taken the story from the media & ran with it. The people of Kirkby were fine about immigrants being in the hotel until this happened. It’s disgusting. If there’s genuine immigrants who want to work & make a life here then crack on, but not these kind of sickos.

Cuppasoupmonster · 11/02/2023 22:06

YABU. Compare it to countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, basically anywhere apart from Northern Europe and Canada/NZ and the U.K. is actually very left wing. It just seems fashionable to say it isn’t.

110APiccadilly · 11/02/2023 22:06

The problem is this:

There were 1,400 young women and girls in Rotherham and hundreds more in other places who were utterly failed by authority, because the powers that be didn't want to inflame racial tensions.

So now when there's a social media rumour and the powers that be deny it, how do we know they're not lying again?

I don't know whether that rumour is true or not. And I have literally no way to find out. That's the problem.

Under those circumstances, it's not going to take much to cause mob violence. That's not good, but I'm not convinced the bulk of the blame lies with the far right. It lies with those who tried to cover up horrible crimes in the first place.

Boomboom22 · 11/02/2023 22:07

Yes the person window has shifted. To the left! Uc and pensions are as good or better than mw, hardly very to the right! Johnson was always fairly central and too left for his party. Labour are also economically right but do not represent the wc, instead thinking hate crimes are stating reality so that'll account for some of those. Of course threats to kill women online are a ok though as is anti semitic rhetoric and blaming white working class girls for being racist if groups that see them as inherently soiled pester them sexually. In the cases of Rotherham and Rochdale actually criminalising the girls.

NotConvinced1 · 11/02/2023 22:07

Brexit " happened" in part because the working class concerns were not listened to prior. I do find it amusing though, the racist white people I knew were pro remain (as means people coming here were largely white and non religious or Christian). Plenty of Asians I know happily told me they voted for Brexit to stop more Romanians and Bulgarian etc coming as they were "invading" their areas and didn't want to be over run with them. Always funny to see such black and white thinking on this issue. I guess it's easy when you don't live in the middle of it. When you don't deal with any of the ill effects. This left Vs right squabble is ridiculous and not even accurate. As previous posters mention it's like a horse house rather than opposite sides of a coin.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 11/02/2023 22:07

Adrelaxzz · 11/02/2023 22:02

They are not illegal immigrants. Stop reading the Daily Mail.

Most of them are economic migrants. There's nothing wrong with that but please don't confuse the two groups. That really does give fuel to the far right because they can just point and say how all those people aren't refugees so why are we being lied to that they are etc.

Boomboom22 · 11/02/2023 22:07

Overton window

BluebellFlowersAreMyFave · 11/02/2023 22:08

@Alltheprettyseahorses only that I’m from Liverpool myself I can totally see why people from out of the city could see the news & think there was just a bunch of racist yobs rioting. It’s so wrong, that poor 15 year old & he knew she was a kid because she was in her uniform. Just awful. & shame on our media for spinning the truth because they don’t want us knowing the facts.

Adrelaxzz · 11/02/2023 22:09

Madamecastafiore · 11/02/2023 22:01

And yet we have the left wing standing by trans women telling us we need to shut up and stop getting cross about our rights as women being eroded at every turn.

Ugh this sort of thing reminds me why I hate that the Tories pretend to care about women's rights on the trans issue. They don't. They just care about easy votes. They would equally vote the other way round if their voters were pro self ID. Don't fall for it!

Alltheprettyseahorses · 11/02/2023 22:11

I agree 100% BluebellFlowersAreMyFave and it's really making me question the media in a way I've never done before (cos I'm normally too busy to and it's never been something so close to home that I know the narrative is ideological rather than factual).

BluebellFlowersAreMyFave · 11/02/2023 22:15

@Alltheprettyseahorses I know. The media is so disappointing twisting the truth. Simply because the don’t want us ordinary folk rising up & saying that’s not right we don’t want that happening to our children. It shouldn’t be happening to children in any country/city. I just felt compelled to come here with the facts & upload the video. I wish I didn’t have too because I wish it never happened to the poor girl :(

Madamecastafiore · 11/02/2023 22:16

And the mail is labelling the people protesting about the drag queens reading to children at the Tate today right wing.

Ponoka7 · 11/02/2023 22:17

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/02/2023 22:01

Are you saying they were only asking for the man who approached that child to come out?

He isn't the only one. There have been three substantiated incidents of underage girls being approached and men hanging around school routes. There was two hanging around a playing field/pond approaching children. There's been no police/authority reaction to this.

JoonT · 11/02/2023 22:17

Anyone who dares to disagree with our woke/oxbridge/metropolitan-liberal masters is now labelled 'right-wing'.

You don't believe that every single immigrant is a genuine refugee? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You wonder if maybe, just maybe, these boatloads of young men aren't all fleeing "war and persecution," that maybe, just maybe, some of them are economic migrants, or even criminals? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You don't believe that multiculturalism is always, everywhere and at all times a wonderful and amazing success? Then you're 'right wing'.

You don't go in for virtue signalling on social media? You're not smug and sanctimonious, and don't believe that dreamy left-wing idealism works in the real world? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You have an affection for Britain, and want to preserve some kind of national identity? You are sick of smug liberals sneering at British culture and history? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You've worked hard, bought a small house in the country, and then resent a giant estate being built in the fields next to you, filled with 'problem families' who ruin your life? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You believe that children ought to made to work hard at school? That rigorous testing, league tables and school inspections raise standards? That the silly liberal approach, in which children are encouraged to 'share' and 'express themselves' sounds good but ends up as an excuse for messing about and doing no work? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You want to preserve high culture? You want the next generation to read Shakespeare and Wordsworth and Jane Austen and Dickens and Virginia Woolf, and to be proud to identify with the culture that produced them (whatever their race or background)? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You believe that maybe, just maybe, some people who claim disability benefits are lying? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You believe that, whereas small scale immigration enriches a culture, mass immigration overwhelms it? Then you're 'right-wing'.

You believe that people who work hard, obey the law, and instill good moral values in their kids aren't boring little NIMBYs but the backbone of civilization? Then you're 'right-wing'.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 11/02/2023 20:48

I think you'll find the British Labour party elected a far left person as their leader.

I can't think of a far right Tory leader.

Starmer is a centrist, That is why the extreme left wing hate him.

verdantverdure · 11/02/2023 22:18

It's not the death throes of a Tory government unless there's riots and strikes is there?

VeniVidiWeeWee · 11/02/2023 22:19

QueueEtwo · 11/02/2023 21:13

We have a Right Wing Prime Minister at the moment that no one elected!

I think you'll find no-one elected Gordon Brown either.

Your point is?

MadeOfSteel · 11/02/2023 22:20

feellikeanalien · 11/02/2023 21:40

I imagine if there had been such a thing as hate crimes in the 1960s there would have been a fairly large number recorded. I don't think the country is becoming more right wing. I think that some people of all political persuasions are becoming more intolerant and rather than engage in rational debate they resort to name calling and stereotyping. You can see this in relation to immigration and the trans issue.

As another pp said (I think it might have been MarshaMelrose) when you don't listen to people and they become scared to air their views because of fear of being called racist/homophobic/sexist/transphobic then some people will become frustrated. If this shit show of a government had a sensible and coherent immigration policy then this type of situation would not arise.

I actually believe that the majority of British people are fairly tolerant and just want to be allowed to get on with their lives and their fellow man. I also think that there are a lot of agitators both on the right and the left who use situations such as the one in Merseyside to further their own agendas.

This this this!

JockTamsonsBairns · 11/02/2023 22:20

Viviennemary · 11/02/2023 20:57

I dont find extreme left wing people any better tbh.

Which of their violent protests have you been most disturbed by?

ExistenceOptional · 11/02/2023 22:20

So a man was approaching teenage girls and that morphs into asylum seekers are nonces?
There is zero evidence the man was an asylum seeker living in the hostel. And if he was he was one man, not everyone in the hostel.
Bloody idiots.

ExistenceOptional · 11/02/2023 22:22

Britain is more right wing. There is more open racism and homophobia than in the recent past.
MN is now full of it when it used to be rarer. And yes I do report sometimes, it nearly always stays up.

GyozaGuiting · 11/02/2023 22:22

Hmmm… I’ve lived all over the world and We’re very socialist compared to the US and a lot of other western countries, we’re even giving France a run for its money on left/ socialism politics.

Ponoka7 · 11/02/2023 22:26

Bloody idiots.

There's been issues with some of the men living in the hotel. As said, the issues are being ignored. Now they are being denied. So there's going to be no solution from them. So what's left to make sure that the men get the message that underage girls are off limit?

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/02/2023 22:26

Have people really become so extrme in their views that they think those who object to chanting mobs outside refugee hotels want to see more child sex abuse in our country🤯

What the fuck has happened to this country?
