Would you be annoyed?

Persons A and B go to the same hobby group. They get on but aren't "friends".

They end up at a mutual friend's party. Neither are drinking.

Person A can't drive and had planned to get a taxi home.

Person B happens to mention they are driving past Person A's road on the way home.

Person A asks Person B if they can have a lift to the end of their road when they leave.

If you were Person B would you feel put on and annoyed?

No. I would have offered.

Oreosareawful · 08/02/2023 13:15

No, why mention that you will drive by unless you are willing to give person A a lift?

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 08/02/2023 13:15

Absolutely not annoyed in the slightest

Armadunno · 08/02/2023 13:15

No.
In fact I’d have offered the lift, not waited to be asked for one. I’m going the same way after all.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 08/02/2023 13:15

I'd have probably offered if I was driving.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 08/02/2023 13:16

No why mention it if you weren't gonna give them a lift?

AtleastitsnotMonday · 08/02/2023 13:16

No wouldn't bother me in the slightest

Cornelious2011 · 08/02/2023 13:17

If I was person B I would've offered, or if I didn't want to I wouldn't have mentioned driving past their road.

Happygone · 08/02/2023 13:18

Of course not.

Kitcaterpillar · 08/02/2023 13:18

No, not at all. Literally the way Person A is going.

onlyoneoftheregimentinstep · 08/02/2023 13:18

Surely you'd just offer a lift?

SherbetDips · 08/02/2023 13:19

Not at all, I would have offered when I realised we lived close by too.

Neededanewuserhandle · 08/02/2023 13:19

Not as much as I am annoyed by mystery hobbies and "person A" posts.

Cococomellonn · 08/02/2023 13:20

I think it depends. On the face of it, it sounds like it wouldn't put out B to give A a lift but we don't know whether it would actually put them out practically in terms of distance or feeling they need to stay later / leave earlier with you and also for all we know B can't stand A and / or thinks they're a CF for other reasons.

Also some people find social situations like that difficult.

There is nothing wrong with A asking for a lift but also nothing wrong with B saying no or not wanting to.

Hello12345678910 · 08/02/2023 13:20

No, person b should have offered, or kept quiet if they didn't want to feel put upon! 🙄

NotAnotherBathBomb · 08/02/2023 13:21

No. And YABU for the person A/B shit.

Cococomellonn · 08/02/2023 13:21

Not as much as I am annoyed by mystery hobbies and "person A" posts.

also YABU purely because of this 😂

Soubriquet · 08/02/2023 13:22

Not at all. I would have immediately offered. I mean it’s not like I would be going out of my way

Conkersinautumn · 08/02/2023 13:22

No, I'd probably offer anyway and if A had plans in place as its clearly not cf behaviour, so what's to be annoyed about?

GoodChat · 08/02/2023 13:23

It's fine as long as the passenger is happy to leave as soon as the drive is ready.

Rogue1001MNer · 08/02/2023 13:24

If I were person B, I'd have offered with the caveat of ".... If you're happy to leave at the same time I am, I'll run you home"

Minikievs · 08/02/2023 13:25

Oreosareawful · 08/02/2023 13:15

No, why mention that you will drive by unless you are willing to give person A a lift?

This

AmIreallyBeverly · 08/02/2023 13:27

Mystery hobby is a dance class. 💃 I didn't mention it because it wasn't relevant.

Person A can be named Sue if you like and you can call Person B Joan if that makes you feel better. 😆

takealettermsjones · 08/02/2023 13:27

Not annoyed at all. I would offer, and have offered, to take people home even miles out of my way (within reason of course!) if they're on their own and planning on getting a taxi. I think karma comes around with stuff like this and if you're happy to help people out, people are more likely to help you out in future.

AmIreallyBeverly · 08/02/2023 13:28

Although I've now changed my mind and agree that this post is annoying simply because I used a flamenco dancer in my post. It was an accident but still...
