@MarshaBradyo

Stay in your echo chamber if you can't take people who don't agree.

You can disagree all you like but if you don’t want to read it at all hide the thread.

lifeturnsonadime · 03/02/2023 12:53

@StarsSand

What is a woman?

ReneBumsWombats · 03/02/2023 12:54

StarsSand · 03/02/2023 12:32

Please take this conversation over to the echo chamber that was set up to contain this BS to one place.

And deny you the chance to see it and make your important contribution? Do we look that heartless?

lifeturnsonadime · 03/02/2023 13:17

How interesting that @StarsSand has come on to tell us we are an echo chamber yet has declined to give an alternative view.

@StarsSand appears to object to the Prime Minister's definition of a woman but hasn't offered an alterantive.

Some people really don't want women to speak in public about what's happening to women's rights, why is that?

I love it when people don't agree. It manages to show up bad arguments to people who don't know what's going on.

Why are you so keen to hide it away though? What don't you want people to see?
There's nothing stopping you hiding the thread.

Thelnebriati · 03/02/2023 13:33

I love it when people don't agree. It manages to show up bad arguments to people who don't know what's going on.

It also helps us know our own minds. I'm always interested to hear the reasons why people hold a different point of view; but all I've heard so far is 'be kind' and 'but that never happens'. Which are not reasons, they are appeals to female socialisation.

YouSetTheTone · 03/02/2023 13:43

I’m a single issue voter and this is my red line too. I will not vote for any party or leader that can’t define what a woman is (or a man). If we’ve lost the ability to define ourselves accurately then we lose the ability to defend ourselves or advocate for ourselves.

I care about food banks etc, I donate to local charities and food banks. But given the choice between a party that can actually represent me - and half the bloody country- and one that can’t, well I’m choosing the one that can.

We can see from the mess that Nicola Sturgeon and the SNPs are in that Labour would be engulfed in the same godawful confused state of affairs. Do you think food banks will be tackled if Keir Starmer is busy unpicking whether a rapist is a man or a woman?

Beowulfa · 03/02/2023 13:51

The poor single mothers at foodbanks referenced earlier are the ones most likely to end up in prison for shoplifting or not paying their council tax. They're the ones who'll be sharing a cell with convicted rapists who've put on blonde wigs and uttered the magic words "but I identify as a woman".

Why the fuck can't Starmer confirm that biological sex trumps gender identity in certain very specific and obvious circumstances (toilets/changing rooms/hospitals/data collection/prisons/sports), but otherwise we treat trans people with the same respect as everyone else?

I respect religious people, but we don't have laws insisting that legally Jesus is the actual son of God.

lifeturnsonadime · 03/02/2023 13:55

Yes that really shouldn't be too difficult.

I would also like him to confirm that he does not support the medical transition of children and pathways which lead them to that as young adults. Children are being used as a medical experiment, why is that? Trans women have introduced the phenomenon of the 'woman's penis' but Children are encouraged to harm their bodies.

smileladiesplease · 03/02/2023 14:09

During the inevitable election campaign Labour are going to find this 'what is a woman?' Question dominating the discussion snd all their other policies will be ignored. Just as the anti semetic issues lost them the last election snd their dither on brexit.

They need to accept that public opinion is not on their side over this snd stop pandering to a tiny minority.

Their inability to say what if a woman is excruciating and they need to get a fucking grip.

I imagine the posters trying to change the issue to food banks etc are the very same ones defending corbyns anti semites.

It's pathetic and it will loose labout the next election if the Tories start to pull round the economy.

I wish people would stop tarring all the Left with this brush.

I may be a socialist but I'm also a feminist and I never thought I'd see the day I support a Tory stance but I bloody do with this.

I'd still ever vote for them though.

Well if you would be gob smacked then that's it!

Clearly you alone can spot a male predictor with your deadly perception.

Christ almighty if we could all spot rapists snd pardopbiles we would all be 10% safe

I wish people would stop tarring all the Left with this brush.

The problem is that it is left wing agendas which are pro queer theory and identity politics which are causing women harm. This isn't just in the UK, look at the US and Canada a parts of Europe.

I've voted Labour all of my life up until the last few years where I've spoiled the ballot. I've never voted Tory in my life and won't in the next election, but, I won't vote Labour while it continues this path of harming women in the name of identity politics.

Sartre · 03/02/2023 14:17

Rishi is correct. Wrong about most other things but very right here. Wish Labour would wake the fuck up and stop pandering to the minority.

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 03/02/2023 14:20

A woman gives birth to live young. A wo-man. She has a womb. Isn't that the better definition? A man cannot be a woman as he does not have a womb. Ask Julian Clary - he will tell you.

orangegato · 03/02/2023 14:20

Love how there is an open goal for Labour and they are too dumb to find it 😀

Rishi got my vote for standing up for women. Some policies are entirely batshit but this speaks to my core. Labour are wet, and disagree with everything but don’t actually stand for anything?

Unfortunately the left and Labour are going down this path and I can’t see them weeding out the believers.

It does make it hard to vote if you’re a feminist and on the left though. Oth voting is important in its own right.

Luckily I find most of Labour policies nuts so it’s not as hard.

Changing sex doesn't change that you are a convicted rapist. Of course they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a female prison. You can choose to change sex but that they are still a convicted rapist. An Op doesn't change that status.

No one is changing their sex, it isn't possible.

It's their gender they change.

No matter what hormones they take, what they have cut off, or not, or what operations they have to change their appearance, they still have the same Chromosomes they were born with, which is what dictates their sex.

Its liberal middle class agendas more than anything else. Social conservatism exists as much in the WC traditional Labour heartlands as it does on the right. There are no shortage of white liberals on the right trotting out the absolute right of men to be the opposite sex - Penny Mordaunt and Caroline Nokes spring to mind.

Its WC and particularly WC black and brown women who feel the sharp end of gender ideology in the prisons, in support services, in health care and in restricted access. By and large, middle class white women whether left or right wing can avoid the sharper aspects of the removal of safe spaces and can navigate around poor care.

They just desegregated the toilets in Waterloo station.

Damn you Starmer!

Was he responsible for that then?

Ofcourseshecan · 03/02/2023 14:55

PriOn1 · 02/02/2023 21:54

Depends whether you are being asked to believe (or at least pretend to believe) something you know is entirely untrue and will obviously be very damaging to society in general and women and children in particular. That’s where I would draw a line and say I can no longer follow.

Exactly. Beliefs and values are fine, but if they become ideologies they can be dangerous. The current ideology is intensely harmful and dangerous, with new evidence now coming out every day. I am disgusted by any politician still supporting it. Enablers of abuse, everyone of them.

Ofcourseshecan · 03/02/2023 14:56

As an influential part of a collective, yes.

ilovesooty · 03/02/2023 15:19

Apparently they will b creating gender neutral toilets as well as balanced numbers of male and female toilets at Waterloo Station. It's not apparently a situation where there is no choice of facilities.

In any case the toilet facilities there are managed by Network Rail, so I don't see how Starmer is responsible for their decisions.
