Super simple/basic comfort foods

Share with me your favourite basic comfort foods for no reason other than I just ate some crackers with butter and was struck by how delicious it was. I'm thinking say 3-4 ingredients max.

I'll start with:

White toast, salted butter
In similar vein, Jacobs cracker with salted butter
Jacket potato, salted butter
Crumpet, nutella
Toast, butter, baked beans

I never heard of egg cups for many years, I was always goven boiled eggs chopped up in a cup!

I'm feeling the butter love here - i like the ones with the salt crystals in!

Microwave mash, butter, grated cheese

Potato waffle, tin of Heinz spaghetti, cheese, Worcestershire sauce (the ultimate hangover cure!)

Thick cut white bread bacon sandwich with HP sauce

Pasta with passata, a squeeze of roasted garlic paste and a spoon of pesto mixed in

Cheese and Marmite toastie on white bread

I love a carb!

My dad used to do that for me when I was ill as a child.

I don't know whether to give this one up or not in case there is a shortage. This - with buttered toast dipped in. 😂

No, it was one the packets of dried soup, a bit like the cuppa soups but better, you added water and cooked it up, there used to be loads of varieties but Lincoln pea was my favourite!

Indian "tadkha" baked beans on white toast..... yummy.

English muffins dipped in beaten egg and fried in butter with a sprinkle of cheese on top. Best hangover cure!

@Girlgift97 yes! We live in Northern Ireland.

Something other NI or Scottish families might know - fried beans? You cook sausages and bacon for a fry, put them on the plate then heat the baked beans in the frying pan with all the meat grease in.

Leftover gone stodgy risotto preferably just chicken stock butter and Parmesan

This but cut into slices and fried till crispy. Yum.

No I don't remember that, although sounds delicious!

Roasted cherry orange plain Tomatoes on Toast (needs salt & pepper)
Runny Egg in a cup with lots of chives & salt & toasted bread soldiers
Sourdough toast with butter
Crackers with thinly sliced cucumber, cottage cheese & Maggi sauce
Anything with cheese …

Auto correct on phone … first suggestion is roasted Cherry toms or plain old out the tin heated up toms on toast !

Cheese & ham or tuna toasties.
Mashed potatoes with loads of butter & salt.
Tayto sandwiches.
Brown bread or batch toast cooled and then spread with Kerrygold butter.
Plain salted pasta with bacon lardons.
Rich tea biscuit sandwiches with butter.
Custard.
Thick porridge with peanut butter & fruit.
American pancakes.

Carbs on carbs basically :)

Much prefer unsalted butter. When I am feeling particularly indulgent, I buy burro Beppino Occelli.

Honey on white toast
Beans
Smoked salmon on crackers
Macaroni cheese
Rice pudding
Tinned fruit
Dippy eggs and soldiers
French toast
Cinnamon bagel
Tuna toastie
Baked eggs

Ohhhhh. I'm not eating many carbs at the mo but when I do, I'm trying this!

Hob nobs.

Cheese and tomato toastie
Toast with butter
Cheese on toast
Soup with mashed potato in the middle
Chip shop chips with lots of vinegar
Maccaroni cheese
Pie with lots of gravy and mash potato or chips
Rhubarb crumble with custard
Bacon sandwich
Strong cup of tea with sugar

Digestive biscuits (McVities preferably), butter and grated cheddar. Sandwich together to make the best comfort snack.

Rice pudding
boiled eggs and soldiers
cream of mushroom or chicken soup
anything with custard
crumpets with cheese

3 things? Cheese, biscuits, wine 😉
