Me and my daughter was awoken to a LOUD condescending beeping noise. Like duh duh duh duh duh da da da da if that makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve checked all the smoke alarms, carbon dioxide detector things and all good. The kids are older now so they don’t have any musical toys. I literally have no explanation. AIBU to move out out 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

in all seriousness has anyone else ever had this?…been living here 2 years this august and hasn’t happened at all before now

Are you a semi? We had this and it was our next door neighbours Alexa alarm, it was so loud it penetrated right into our house.

itsonlysubterfuge · 03/02/2023 20:18

This happened to us. Has the power gone off recently? It was our home alarm beeping to let us know a door was open. We thought the alarm didn't work, but it was just turned off. When the power went off it reset all the settings. It took us days to figure out what was occasionally beeping!

Newwardrobe · 03/02/2023 20:19

Years ago we heard an intermittent whining noise , it went on for days , we finally located a furby down the back of the sofa that had decided to reactivate itself..

Doyouthinktheyknow · 03/02/2023 20:24

We had a random high pitched repeated squeak. Took us days to realize it was the downstairs loo🤷‍♀️🤣

Oddly it seems to have stopped but was intermittently squeaking for ages! Really thought it was electronic, unplugged everything.

So could it be your pipes🤣

LikeTearsInRain · 03/02/2023 20:25

Does anyone else have access to the property or has visited recently? Could be low battery on a hidden camera

turnipash · 03/02/2023 20:48

Smoke alarm.

Wow. That's meta. I hope it was deliberate.

Do you realise what meta actually means? Wow, just wow. Deliberate indeed.

😂

I'd like this to be a zombie furby rather than a phrogger!

This happened to us with carbon monoxide alarm running out of battery

This also happened to me, drove me batty as I couldn't find where the beeping was coming from
OP, I was ready to move too!

queenofthebongo · 03/02/2023 21:27

This happened to me!!! It really freaked me out as well. But I tracked it down to the washing machine! If you accidentally press the go /wash button whilst the door is still open it gets quite bippy (and condescending!) 😂

let me know if I’m right!

2023username02 · 03/02/2023 21:41

Do you have cctv cameras?

our hard drive sometimes overheats and we have to disconnect it for a few minutes.

Bignanny30 · 03/02/2023 22:15

Maybe some one broke in but when there the alarm that they forgotten that they had set on their mobile started bleeping, they scarpered in case it had woken you. Now I’ve scared myself and I’m checking all my doors and windows before I go to bed.

Stewball01 · 04/02/2023 00:54

@PayPennies
You don't have to be so rude about a misspelling. Tell her the right word if you're so clever. The lot of you, all laughing but nobody came up with the right word and being 78 I've forgotten the word but we all know what she meant. Is the word descending? I think so.

MadamLeota · 04/02/2023 02:21

OllytheCollie · 02/02/2023 08:45

I am enjoying all the people being condescending about your misuse of the word condescending.

When this happened to us it was a VTech toy bought in a charity shop for 50p that I had hidden from a child and then hidden in a bag in the loft. DH had piled something else on top of it and it was still trying to feebly bleat out Yankee Doodle Dandy. He spent a long time in the loft finding that particular 'ghost'. I think we binned it rather than inflict it on anyone else.

Very similar scenario. We were regularly awoken in the night to the sound of a piano hitting random notes and holding them. Went on for weeks, some nights nothing, other nights went on for ages.

Fitted wardrobes were emptied, under bed storage. Nothing.

finally, in sheer frustration, dispatched DH to the loft and spent best part of the afternoon emptying it to find an old character musical book of DD’s with a piano keyboard on it firmly wedged under one of the joists. Obviously as the joists expanded and cooled some nights there was enough pressure to hit random notes.

To this day we joke about the time we were haunted for months by Winnie the fucking Pooh.

ChrisConary · 04/02/2023 04:10

Could you have an air tag, one of those apple tracker things, tucked into a pocket, or onto something you have brought into the house? I was with a friend today, picking up the personal possessions of a deceased friend, at their attorney's office today, and among his things was one of those thingys, an apparently it has been beeping on and off for the last FOUR MONTHS.

maddening · 04/02/2023 07:42

Do you have a house alarm? If you are turning the electric off fully at night the alarm may use a back up battery intended for electricity cuts, but doing every night might ware it down and it could need changing?

CockysGirl · 04/02/2023 09:54

Do you have a weather station? My DH has a little box that sits on a shelf to give weather predictions, temperatures etc and that has such a loud bleep when it gives a warning or has a low battery.

Fanakerpan · 04/02/2023 10:31

Condescending? can't get my head around a 'condescending noise'.

The irony that you can't get your head around condescending isn't lost.

Still none the wiser! Have no home phone smart meters etc nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe my house has been targeted by a ufo and we’re due an abduction 👽

Is it still beeping??

dhfoody47 · 05/02/2023 08:22

I had this & it was an alert from the BBC Sounds App! Really loud, took me ages to realise .... could be that? 🤔

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/02/2023 08:33

My washing machine made a noise like smoke alarm the other day just out of the blue, nearly jumped out of my skin! Apparently the water hose was slightly kinked.
Do you have an echo dot/ Google nest? Mine has gone off in the middle of the night,it was terrifying!

candycrush789 · 05/02/2023 16:54

Hi! Worked out the source of the beeping. My Alexa was still plugged in and I forgot I had set alerts and alarms to sound through my Alexa when it’s on, the beeping was an alarm alerting me to wake up and take the bins out as it was bin day! I only realised what it was when it happened again the day after sounding an alarm reminding me about something 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ how could I forget! Thanks for all your suggestions though ladies. Note ti self-keep Alexa turned off at night 🙂

I know it’s a typo but I love the idea of a smoke alarm running out of batteries in a condescending manner.
