Teacher vaping in car

KittiKati · 25/01/2023 20:36

I collected my child earlier from school as they had a medical appointment and as I walked back to the car I noticed my child’s piano teacher vaping in her car. There was no one else about but would this bother you?

Apparently some have sec out of marriage too, and drink alcohol ...

As an unmarried teacher, I got some really interesting questions from pupils (high school) about how I got pregnant and I’m not married.

I explained I got pregnant the same way as everyone else.

Shock horror.

Thunderpunt · 25/01/2023 21:23

As it was on school premises and during school day I would not be happy either. I've 2 teenagers that vape, and think it's cool.... primary school kids do not need to see it as normal.
I think if you had posted that the teacher was smoking a cigarette in her car on school premises during school day... people would not be happy. There is no evidence yet that vaping doesn't cause problems, and also many contain nicotine which is addictive i believe

Yepadidnae · 25/01/2023 21:23

I think you should mind your own business ffs and maybe get a life.

Oh flip. Outed by EtonMessy.

OK when I was a young teacher I smoked in the staff room, and what is more on Friday lunchtimes we used to go to the pub over the road.

And we used to pass packets of polos to each other in assembly. A three polo assembly was a good assembly.

Don’t worry, it didn’t turn me it into a juvenile delinquent knowing the teachers were smoking in staff room ! Remembering what school was like in the 70’s and 80’s I would imagine a cigarette break between lessons was very much needed !!

cathcath2 · 25/01/2023 21:24

Are you being serious OP? She wasn't shooting up or snorting cocaine. Vaping is legal. You could be that parent who complains but why would you? She'll just go down the road to vape in future.
This is from one school's policy.

When I was at high school the married drama teacher had sex with a history teacher on a school residential trip and ended up getting a divorce and marrying her.

Your head would explode op!!

When I was at school, the music teacher had sex with the receptionist. Never mind that they were married, it was a complete disgrace.

Jourdain11 · 25/01/2023 21:06

Well, I know you're being facetious, but what about a can of coke running late down the road every morning? It's sending the message to children that it's okay to have poor time-keeping and use stimulants to compensate!

I would love to see a can of coke running down the street !.

WonderingWanda · 25/01/2023 21:25

Well presumably the children were in school watching their teachers rather than standing in the car park watching her. She obviously wasn't expecting you to be there.

Nextlevelnonsense · 25/01/2023 21:19

@KittiKati - I had sex with a teacher once.....Shock

Just as long as neither of you dared to have a post-coital cigarette you're probably OK.

Workyticket · 25/01/2023 21:30

Jesus!
I once visited my mam in hospital, called in to the pub after with my brother and had a blue WKD (It was the year 2000!)

Just the one. A parent spotted me and staggered over pissed, to try to hug me.

He 'had a quiet word' with the head the next day about me drinking on a school night. The head thought it was hilarious and sent him on his way

I don't teach Primary anymore - parents think they fucking own teachers..it boiled my piss then and still does!

Stressfordays · 25/01/2023 21:30

On my works Xmas do this year, I bumped into my kids schools Xmas do 🤣 I sent over shots to the table and they shouted over 'wheeey' while they took them. We've never spoke of it since though 🤣

MrsHamlet · 25/01/2023 21:30

You are being ridiculous

Chickenly · 25/01/2023 21:33

This kind of shit is why, when I was a teacher, my contract stated I couldn’t even smoke inside my own home. Obviously unenforceable and I didn’t smoke anyway but the control parents think they should have over teachers is ridiculous.

Inkpotlover · 25/01/2023 21:34

You need to un-clutch your pearls. Teachers are not robots and one having a quick vape in their car is not remotely scandalous or life-threatening to the children they teach.

Nat6999 · 25/01/2023 21:34

At ds school half the teachers spent their free periods having a smoke at the gates, the teachers on bus stop duty were smoking. Being trapped in a building with 2000 kids I would have needed a smoke.

Rebel2023 · 25/01/2023 21:34

@elevenplusdilemma the early indications are that it is MUCH safer
This has been talked about loads on here before and people still persist in saying vaping is dangerous
Yeah I wouldn't take it up randomly but if you're smoking 30 a day like I was, the risks are minimal

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nicotine-vaping-in-england-2022-evidence-update

“It would be tragic if thousands of smokers who could quit with the help of an e-cigarette are being put off due to false fears about safety,” said Prof John Newton, director of health improvement at PHE.

Here is a grip. Please keep it with you at all times .

rampila · 25/01/2023 21:35

KittiKati · 25/01/2023 20:40

Is vaping not serious then like smoking?

Neither are serious when done by an adult in their own car when not in charge of children. Get a grip.

Jourdain11 · 25/01/2023 21:35

My friend is a teacher and apparently some parent saw him holding hands with his partner during a weekend. A whole bunch of particularly religious parents complained to the head, saying they didn't want a gay man teaching their children because homosexuality was forbidden according to their faith.

purpledalmation · 25/01/2023 21:37

If you have a glass of wine in the evening, is that setting a bad example. At least she wasn't having sex. That would be worth complaining about

skippy67 · 25/01/2023 21:37

BMW6 · 25/01/2023 20:45

FFS OP don't be such a pompous twat.

Get. A. Life.

Yup.

Nat6999 · 25/01/2023 21:37

My are teacher used to send pupils to the shop for cigarettes, the understanding was we fetched them for him & he ignored us if he saw us in the pub drinking underage.

quietnightmare · 25/01/2023 21:38

Good for he. Probably stressed from all the children who can't be bothered to practice 😂

Naddd · 25/01/2023 21:38

Get a bloody grip
