To think that a man standing outside a school in girls uniform is not OK?

crinklemum2 · 20/01/2023 08:35

Name changed as this is very local and he was seen wearing my DD's school uniform.

A local school uniform shop shared images to reassure parents they would not be selling him any items. Essex police say he poses no risk and people should stop sharing the photos. He looks to be late 50s/early 60s.

He's been seen around schools - both primary and secondary - dressed as a school girl (in their uniform). I am fucking outraged that the police don't seem to think that's an issue. God forbid we offend men or shame their fetishes.

AIBU that this must be an antisocial behaviour at the very least?

Perhaps Owen Jones, Lloyd Russel-Moyle, Lisa Nandy, Mhairi Black et al would like to speak up about the awful hate being directed at this poor individual who’s just trying to live her life.

(sarcasm)

These police officers might have said “he poses no risk”

Calling @EastLondon Observer

this seems to be one where we need your wisdom and experience.

It is Friday and I'm not busy again at work so ELO could entertain us.

Darthwazette · 20/01/2023 09:31

It must be a very civilised area, in my neck of the woods, it wouldn’t take long until the local teenage gangs battered him to within an inch of his life.

😂 When I was at secondary school 30 years ago Belfairs was one of the roughest schools in the area so I’m somewhat surprised myself.

FluffyFlower · 20/01/2023 09:31

At the very least, his behaviour is age-inappropriate. Yes, people are different but the dude clearly has a fetish. There is no place for this behaviour around schools, he deliberately chooses to be there, to look at kids and to be seen by kids.

Holdmycoat · 20/01/2023 09:32

'Surely the answer is to educate the children that people are different, but to recognise eg signs of grooming.'

Yes educate children that a grown man stalking 3 schools and following school children about on buses is a HUGH thread. This could lead to grooming and much more. It is about prevention not about acting after the crime.

Holdmycoat · 20/01/2023 09:32

threat*

Naunet · 20/01/2023 09:32

Don’t worry everyone, the police are experts on which men are a threat to women and girls, nothing to worry about 🙄

The fucking nerve of them to come out with that after recent events, makes me just as angry as the dirty old pervert they’re caping for by asking people not to post pictures of him, because HES the one who needs protecting of course.

Brokendaughter · 20/01/2023 09:32

Just think, this is what 'inclusion' brings to society.

If it's okay for one man to dress as a woman & leave his house, then it's okay for any old pervert to put on a school uniform & get his wank fodder mingling with the school children at the gates.

His getting away with this, in a world where a father speaking up for his raped daughter is dragged from a public meeting because people don't want to hear bad things about boys wearing girls clothes, there will only be more & more of it.

Just wait until he identifies as being a school aged girl & applies to join a school.
Be Kind will be out in force then.

Men have ALWAYS been like this.
There are plenty of them who are far more perverted than most people imagine (yes, I know NAMALT) but they had to keep it out of the public eye.

Society had them leashed so they couldn't behave like this where everyone could see them, but now that leash has been taken off, it will just get worse year on year.

Thank the TRAs.
They fight for this mans rights to be publicly what he is.
All he has to do is look like he will scream trans & the police will let him do anything even if he lies.

Funny how intentionally exposing your child to perverts on the internet would be regarded as a safeguarding issue, but letting one stand outside the school is apparently okay.

The police used to move people on who hung around schools for no reason.
What has changed?

It was extremely disturbing the number of men who had Learning Difficulties caught by Peadophile Hunters who upload their videos on YouTube. Their families and community mostly defended them.

I don’t care if you have every special need under the sun, they still possess a rampant dangerous sexuality and they need to be dealt with… having mental health issues or other umbrella needs does NOT mean you are not a PREDATOR. Makes me furious.

I would advocate for libido suppressing drugs, as I don’t advocate for mutilation, IF that even works.

Young people with learning difficulties are even more vulnerable to absorbing the prejudices of the people who care for them and of the wider culture we live in. They merely hold up a mirror to us. Misogyny needs to be stripped from society.

OfcourseSpringRoll · 20/01/2023 09:33

The problem is he hasn’t actually done anything that’s against the law. As much as people get really annoyed with the police they can only enforce actual laws. It’s the price we pay for living in what is actually a very liberal society, regardless of what anyone thinks of this country. In other countries he would probably get attacked by people or the police. Being a liberal country on the face of it seems great but does have its drawbacks in times like this.

Boomboomboomboom · 20/01/2023 09:34

He IS causing alarm or distress though and his behaviour is deeply odd. The police are extremely naive to say he doesn't pose a risk of harm because they are not accounting for the harm caused by the alarm distress and fear of seeing him. Harm is not confined to physical attacks and the police should know the law!

The local authority/police could do all.sorts of things to try and prevent it, including Community Protection warnings, Community Protection Notice, ultimately and anti-social behaviour injunction.

A rethink is required here if words of advice have not worked.

PlusLaMeme · 20/01/2023 09:34

Fucking hell, the gaslighting by some posters!
"Don't trust your gut instructs, ladies, please centre a stranger's needs over those of your children. And remember to be kind"

Fuck that with a box of fries!

How many girls must a stalker stalk to be considered a 'stalker'?

3 whole schools full obviously isn't enough.

WalkthisWayUK · 20/01/2023 09:29

There is safeguarding though. If he was not dressing as a school girl, and you saw the same man persistently hanging around a school then most people would see that as an issue. And the police would have a word.

Yes exactly. I remember not so long ago a weirdo hanging about outside several schools in my town. His description and make and colour of car was shared on the school newsletters. The police turned up one afternoon and he was given short
shrift. What are people so afraid of these days? Something underhand exists in the echelons of our society and I for one can’t wait for it to be exposed. This nonsense needs to be put to bed as a daft time period in our history. 20 years ago (heck even 10), if you saw a man doing this he’d have been dealt with by parents, the headteacher and/or the police immediately and he’d never return. He would be named as the local nonce and be treated as an outcast. The police have succeeded in making so many people frightened of questioning a major safeguarding issue like this. The whole thing stinks.

BobDear · 20/01/2023 09:36

as @YellowAndGreenToBeSeen said upthread, this is NOT a fashion choice, it is a fetish. And a fetish being acted out in the presence of children. And if he is riding the bus with them and taking photos without their permission, that is also an offence.

Of course he should be approached and cautioned to stay away from the school. Describing him as an 'old perv' is minimising. 'Old' suggests 'harmless' and 'perv' is an outdated term that again implies that someone might be a bit odd but they are again, broadly harmless.

And then, when and if he does assault someone, they will say "oh he was a bit odd but we all thought he was harmless'

Fuck that.

TheJobsworth · 20/01/2023 09:37

Said the spider to the fly.

bluelavender · 20/01/2023 09:37

Would his actions not be causing distress and alarm to children; some of whom may be vulnerable. I can see how this may make girls in particular feel highly self conscious. I am not sure that their needs have been considered

The police have interviewed and cautioned women (and men) in the UK for “non-crime hate incidents”, so I suspect it’s perfectly within their capabilities of telling a creepy fuck to stay the fuck away from children. If he has good legal representation they can challenge it for him. I recommend the Good Law Project for him, Jolyon Maugham likes defending this sort of creep.

Why is he wearing their school uniform? Sorry but what possible purpose could it serve other than a fetish? Unless he is delusional and thinks he is a student, in which case he probably needs a section.
I wouldn't want my children going home unescorted with this man around.

Yeah you're 'right' it is better for society to lock up every one who is different

Anyone who has a label we dont like lock everyone up and throw away the key? Create a roster so people can take it in turns to stand their poking sticks?

Start a petition to make the police just make up a law and the courts will just go alone with it and bring back the death penalty?

OfcourseSpringRoll · 20/01/2023 09:40

I use to scoff at conspiracy theories but I honestly think the hatred towards women and girls is now in full view, a seen conspiracy. We were getting somewhere and men don’t like it. It’s as simple, as that. I was talking about the change a few years ago. Arguing back in 2018 with Labour canvassers saying I would never vote for them again after years of trade union activism.
