How often do you wash your towels?

Not AIBU but didn’t know where to put this. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage boys so lots of showers. I don’t seem to have any system when washing towels, just take a few off the heated towel rail every few days. What do others do, wash them every day, all the towels once or twice a week?

All bath towels once a week, hand towels twice a week.

AftersomeAdvice234 · 15/01/2023 21:59

Family of three (parents and baby) we wash ours Once a week.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/01/2023 22:01

I wash mine every day, but my towels do get fusty quickly if they are damp, and I don’t have a heated towel rail.

Batshitkerazy · 15/01/2023 22:02

All towels twice a week, but only me and DP 😊

MaverickGooseGoose · 15/01/2023 22:02

Once a week

atteatimeeverybodyagrees · 15/01/2023 22:02

Once a week or sooner if they smell

atteatimeeverybodyagrees · 15/01/2023 22:03

In the summer probably a bit more often coz of sweat

ForfuckssakeEXHstopbeingatwat · 15/01/2023 22:03

About every three weeks, as when they smell, usually because they've not been hung up. They get used to dry clean bodies, they're just wet mostly, not dirty.

specialk9 · 15/01/2023 22:04

Family of 5 - adults 2x a week inc teenage daughter. Children 1x a week but I only bath them 3x a week whereas our towels are used every day

Hand towels 2x a week

Snarf23 · 15/01/2023 22:05

Weekly. If they smell damp we change them but not very often needed.

UselessExLondoner · 15/01/2023 22:05

My kids have a bath towel (used for baths/showers) and a hand towel (used for drying their faces after brushing their teeth) each. They get washed once a week. Hand towels in the loos get changed twice a week. Except the top floor loo as it's hardly used so once a week.

Pinkyandtwerky · 15/01/2023 22:06

Everyone in the house has their own towel, heated rails , swop then all and wash every 4 days.

JaceLancs · 15/01/2023 22:07

On average after 3-4 uses
we don’t share towels as only 2 of us
hand towels get changed once a week
kitchen towels same

Boxofsockss · 15/01/2023 22:07

Twice weekly. On a Wednesday night and Saturday / Sunday night.

roses2 · 15/01/2023 22:07

Once a week I'm summer when they dry quick. Once a fortnight in winter when they take 2 days to dry.

redressgirl · 15/01/2023 22:08

once a week

Spectre8 · 15/01/2023 22:08

Every 2 weeks but I have two sets of towels so after one week I get the fresh set out. Then at 2 weeks both sets get washed. Cuts down how much washing I have to do.

moonwitchmum · 15/01/2023 22:08

Usually once a week, maybe more in the summer. But I don’t have a proper schedule, just when I go to use a towel and think it needs a wash

BodyShapeWoes · 15/01/2023 22:09

Swimming & gym towel after each use

rest of them once a week

tea towels when I have enough for a load I do have bloody loads of them

Perfectpeace · 15/01/2023 22:09

Honestly, after each use

whataboutsecondbreakfast · 15/01/2023 22:09

Once a week. Normally on a Sunday.

wonkylegs · 15/01/2023 22:09

Everyone has their own towels and own hooks to put them on to dry
I'm shouty about hanging them up so they are pretty good at doing it.
Get washed once a week unless they smell fusty (rarely) and then they go in the wash straight away.

Gloriousgardener11 · 15/01/2023 22:11

We all have our own towels and they get washed once a week.

Susieblue18 · 15/01/2023 22:11

Thanks all, that makes me feel better, I thought everyone was going to say every day! 😳

Once every two weeks. Everyone has their own towel and they are hung out to dry near a radiator.
