To not feel safe in changing rooms anymore?

nypost.com/2023/01/14/sighting-of-trans-womans-penis-in-ymca-locker-room-sparks-tears/

Another story about an inappropriate man in a woman's changing room - is this what we are going to see more of in the UK now too? Having been both flashed and sexually assaulted in a public place, this chills me to the bone. Men who get a thrill out of exposing themselves to women will use any opportunity to do so. To think that they won't abuse women's spaces is to be wilfully and dangerously naive.

YANBU - Not unreasonable to think that flashing is flashing regardless of self ID and magical feelings.

YABU - Be kind to men etc etc

Yanbu. I am in Scotland and have a gym membership. I am dreading the impact of self id when I use the changing facilities.

YANBU. Decent men would never want to change in a women's single sex space. What's been happening in Primark is atrocious. There are porn channels on youtube where men are uploading films and photos they take in the shop.

Women need to stick together by whatever means and stop this perverted ideology. No penises in women's single sex spaces. Ever.

AndyWarholsPiehole · 15/01/2023 15:49

As a man I don’t believe most men get “turned on” by woman getting changed. It isn’t exactly something people fantasise about from my experience. I’ve got many male friends who can’t even imagine spying on women in changing rooms

And yet spying/ peeping Tom videos get millions on views on porn sites.

DillDanding · 15/01/2023 15:50

I absolutely don’t care if men and women are in the same changing rooms.

But I do realise I am in the minority so I fully support women who are uncomfortable with it.

Thelnebriati · 15/01/2023 15:50

Women have a right to single sex facilities, and also to not be harassed for wanting them.

26 Harassment
(1)A person (A) harasses another (B) if—
(a)A engages in unwanted conduct related to a relevant protected characteristic, and
(b)the conduct has the purpose or effect of—
(i) violating B's dignity, or
(ii) creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment for B.

Of course, we are supposed to weep at the mere sight of a penis as women are so ‘vulnerable’

As the phallus has been used as a weapon against women since time began, including war time rapes, and women are raped every day, yes, newsflash - women ARE vulnerable to men.

Blinky21 · 15/01/2023 15:50

Huh?

BethDuttonsTwin · 15/01/2023 15:51

I’m going to say it. Any man who uses women’s changing rooms/spaces just because he put a cheap wig and some mascara on, knowing that he’s not wanted there and is making women uncomfortable is a coercive fetishist who is forcing women to to join him in the acting out of his fetish. Not the minority, but the majority and it’s time we all stopped pretending otherwise.

YANBU. It’s a pervert’s paradise now.

This exactly.

mbosnz · 15/01/2023 15:52

What I find fascinating about Burgoo's post is how he requires data in the first part of his post, and in the last paragraph, presents his own personal opinions and thoughts, those of his friends, and his and their experience as being supporting evidence.

Also, sadly, there is data to suggest that men do prey upon women changing, walking about their business, hell, even going to the loo - in the form of charges and convictions for surreptitious covert filming. My very beloved and brave niece was the victim/survivor of upskirting, and went to court to get the bastard convicted. The impact of such a gross invasion of privacy should not be underestimated.

boobalie · 15/01/2023 15:52

Many on here regularly forget their anti trans views are a minority one.

Our pro-women's safety views are really really not minority views.

Burgoo · 15/01/2023 15:16

@Soubriquet "No they aren’t.
TW are biologically men and if they have a penis, they belong in the mens changing room."

If they have had a full transition and now have a vagina is that ok?

When you go through a transgender operation. Do they alter the physiology of the brain?

HandShoe · 15/01/2023 15:53

YANBU.
Single sex spaces exist for very good reasons.

Okay and? He should have been changing in male changing rooms. He doesn't belong in womens changing rooms

IAmWomanHearMeRoar1 · 15/01/2023 15:53

Limesodas · 15/01/2023 14:58

Except trans women are women

They have every right to be changing in the women’s changing rooms

thankfully most get this

Except, trans women who have their penis and testicles are NOT women. They are men. Thankfully, you are in the minority.

BellePeppa · 15/01/2023 15:53

Limesodas · 15/01/2023 14:10

I, like most of the population couldn’t give a flying fuck who is using a changing room.

Thats my position. Many on here regularly forget their anti trans views are a minority one.

Not all women feel vulnerable in a changing room, I’m used to mixed sex changing rooms and see this as a lot of hysteria

Are you biological male, bio female or trans? I think we need context for your views.

And if you think that most people are for trans in women's spaces, a Scottish survey was about 65% against self ID, which would allow men to legally access women's toilets and changing rooms.

Indeed. Also a majority opposed dropping the age from 18 to 16 and the time period from two years to three months, and believe that the Scot Gov policy presents a risk in women-only spaces. So more or less the opposite of what @Limesodas claims to believe.

Really? You have no objection to stripping in front of strangers, others stripping naked in front of kids? No taboo there at all?

OK.

Juste getting changed... in which changing room?

Cherry60 · 15/01/2023 15:55

YANBU. Penises belong in the men's changing rooms and women/girls should not be being put in the position of defending our right to spaces away from men.
