To not feel safe in changing rooms anymore?

nypost.com/2023/01/14/sighting-of-trans-womans-penis-in-ymca-locker-room-sparks-tears/

Another story about an inappropriate man in a woman's changing room - is this what we are going to see more of in the UK now too? Having been both flashed and sexually assaulted in a public place, this chills me to the bone. Men who get a thrill out of exposing themselves to women will use any opportunity to do so. To think that they won't abuse women's spaces is to be wilfully and dangerously naive.

YANBU - Not unreasonable to think that flashing is flashing regardless of self ID and magical feelings.

YABU - Be kind to men etc etc

What do you think is going to happen to you in a changing room? I don't get it.

I have been raped and sexually abused.
I can't imagine these things happening in a changing room with a stranger. Perhaps they do but you'd be far more realistic to worry about people who have regular contact with children like family and then about their peers. It's rarely strangers

Nothing has to fucking happen for a woman to be able to be in a space, designated just for them, without the presence of a penised male.

How is that so fucking hard to understand?

I don't want men in the changing room but I'm not bothered about trans women

You don't get to provide my consent to it though.

I, like most of the population couldn’t give a flying fuck who is using a changing room.

Thats my position. Many on here regularly forget their anti trans views are a minority one.

Not all women feel vulnerable in a changing room, I’m used to mixed sex changing rooms and see this as a lot of hysteria

Out of interest, do you genuinely think that ’anti-trans’ are in the minority? Or could it be that the people who support trans are just so loud that that they drown out the voices of anyone who dares to voice a different opinion? E.g. It sounds like there’s a lot of trans supporters but there aren’t really.

Here you go: fairplayforwomen.com/unisex-changing-rooms-put-women-in-danger/

"There were 134 reports of sexual assault in changing rooms over the two year period 2017 to 2018. Of these, 120 took place in gender-neutral changing rooms compared to just 14 in single-sex changing areas. A further 46 sexual assault allegations were made about attacks in other areas such as in the pool, in a sports hall or corridors. These are not included in the percentages."

There was a recent Twitter post about a man dressed as a woman, exposing himself in House of Fraser, someone he was with took the photos! I mean wtf!

One of the images was in the lingerie department!

The Twitter post has been shared to Notts police. Hopefully he’ll be done of exposure!

I have been to this cafe in HoF before with my DC. Never again. The photos are abhorrent. The look on his face chills me. This is how sexual offenders start out.

Lincolnremain · 15/01/2023 17:45

What about young boys having to change with the males? Just curious

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 15/01/2023 17:45

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 15/01/2023 15:53

Okay and? He should have been changing in male changing rooms. He doesn't belong in womens changing rooms

Indeed.

And unless the earlier poster is a mind-reader, there is no way of interpreting what his motivation was, or whether his (inadvertent [cough]) exposure was deliberate or accidental.

Well being filmed getting changed when men have access to the changing room is one. You're obviously very naive. There's whole fucking websites dedicated to hidden cameras in women's changing rooms! There's been police officers that have been charged for filming women in changing rooms! Do you never watch or read the news?

@Lincolnremain Um, trans women ARE men. Did you not realise that? 92% to 97% (depending on what govt data you follow) of trans women retain their penis and testicles. Penis and testicles = man. Why do you think putting on a dress automatically changes a man into a woman?

Iizzyb · 15/01/2023 17:47

Astonishing to be told by a man that we can only have a fear for our safety if we've previously been attacked.

It's ingrained in every woman and girl that there are places you can safely go alone & places you can't - also places that are safe during the day that wouldn't be at night.

The reason we keep ourselves safe is that we risk assess every journey and activity we take or participate in, in our whole lives.

When my friend went to uni in Bradford (mid/late 80's) the blokes were told that if they were walking up a street & found themselves following a woman they should cross over the road so the woman didn't think she was being followed. He always did that. He was absolutely no risk to anyone but he recognised some men were & he could be perceived as a risk by a woman who didn't know him. Still does it today. Cost him nothing - ever.

Very different to the approach of some on here/in life these days. So sad for every single one of us.

This.

The only answer to this is that third spaces are created, which can be used by those who don't want to use a sex based space and those who are happy to use mixed sex spaces.

There will need to be sex based spaces retained for those who cannot access mixed sex spaces, since obviously they matter too and inclusion doesn't mean exclude the ones with inconvenient access needs.

I don't watch the news, it's full of misery. If I spent my life worrying about all this then I'd be unhappy and bitter. Perhaps I'm naive, I don't think so. I've lived in many countries and travelled all over for years. Just not going to get upset about this.

All these people on here deciding for other women and girls, no matter what their age, when and in what context they should see male genitalia. Incomprehensible.

Lincolnremain · 15/01/2023 17:50

There's no issue with boys age 8 + (additional needs apart) changing in male changing rooms.

Why not? I know several men who were assaulted by men when they were kids

The thing is, @Lincolnremain, that is because of opportunity. We know this. Crime stats, anonymous surveys, perpetrator support groups, infiltrated paeodophile rings, grooming gangs, they all work based on OPPORTUNITY. It's more likely to be someone with ACCESS. That's not very palatable, but it is reality. Most men who offend do it the first time because they get the opportunity. Which is why, and come on, this is basic, we safeguard women and children when they are vulnerable. In places where they may be undressed, unconscious, locked in, away from main areas. Toilets, change areas, hospitals and prisons. Or we did. Because we limit opportunity. It IS happening. Ask Katie Dolatowskis victims if they think it's okay because mostly it's fine?

And frankly, it isn't just what I think is going to happen. I've miscarried and had to clean up in communal toilets. Hidden myself away from an abusive pursuer. My closest friend is Muslim with disabilities and needs those spaces. She doesn't always need to use the disabled facilities but she does need men free spaces. Why should a man who feels feminine get to override her needs? Why do we have to even say this?

I know, right
Its amazing how many people seem to think that a biology GCSE taken 15 years ago, means that they have any understanding of genetics and the advances made in understanding them over the past few years. Validating a full range of genders that were never understood until now.

The jokes keep on coming. There are only two sexes. Male and female. One cannot become the other.

In other news, the world is round.

And the moon isn't made of cheese

nilsmousehammer · 15/01/2023 17:52

Always interesting that those posting to say they're not small minded and are fine with mixed sex changing are incidentally fine with excluding and harming the women and girls who cannot use mixed sex spaces.

That seems a bit small minded and unaware to put it mildly. We've got two choices here: find solutions that work for everyone, or exclude a lot of women and girls from anything so that male people can have the full preferred choice from everything.

IAmWomanHearMeRoar1 · 15/01/2023 17:53

It doesn't surprise me to read that someone who thinks men are no threat to women doesn't watch the news. Most of these gullible people brainwashed by gender ideology are very ill-informed people who take pride in their ignorance, lack of compassion, and lack of critical thinking. Ignorance is as ignorance does. Especially when it's deliberate willful ignorance.
