To not feel safe in changing rooms anymore?

Another story about an inappropriate man in a woman's changing room - is this what we are going to see more of in the UK now too? Having been both flashed and sexually assaulted in a public place, this chills me to the bone. Men who get a thrill out of exposing themselves to women will use any opportunity to do so. To think that they won't abuse women's spaces is to be wilfully and dangerously naive.

YANBU - Not unreasonable to think that flashing is flashing regardless of self ID and magical feelings.

YABU - Be kind to men etc etc

This is why I do all my clothes shopping online now. I don’t think it’s safe for women and girls to use women’s changing rooms now as males have been given free access. My daughter is still very young but I will be encouraging her not to avoid using public loos and changing rooms if she is on her own when she is older. Life should be getting safer for women and girls but we are going backwards. It makes my blood boil.

midgetastic · 15/01/2023 17:22

Transwomen are more at risk of attack than conforming males

I don't see it's as a reason to put them in with women though - I mean "alpha males" and "everyone else " seems pretty naff segregation

In many areas men with certain skin colours and gay men are also more at risk

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/01/2023 17:22

I'm heartened to see how little truck many women here have with the tenets of gender identity ideology.

Pollyumbrella · 15/01/2023 17:22

YANBU. I fear for my dd

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 15/01/2023 17:23

Typo in my post above. I meant to say I will be encouraging my daughter to avoid using public loos and changing rooms when she is older.

ReformedWaywardTeen · 15/01/2023 17:23

No I don't use them anymore.

I tend to not even bother going to the high street and find it safer to buy online and take my chances size wise.

At a time when stores are struggling to get people in the doors, putting women at risk of SA or flashing is just going to be the final nail in the coffin

Along with a few biology denying, lack of critical thinking handmaidens. Hey ho.

I know, right
Its amazing how many people seem to think that a biology GCSE taken 15 years ago, means that they have any understanding of genetics and the advances made in understanding them over the past few years. Validating a full range of genders that were never understood until now.

Oh do tell us about these groundbreaking discoveries!

lifeturnsonadime · 15/01/2023 17:27

I mean it's fairly obvious what the sex is of the people who have campaigned for the removal of women's single sex spaces.

I don't think that the retailers would have kowtowed to a minority of women making demands to change the status quo. Even though women and girls are being harmed and retailers are aware of this (looking at you Primark) they are still bending over backwards to appease the minority of males making the demands.

Sexism is alive and kicking in 2023.

I'd like to thank the TRAs from the bottom of my heart. Threads like these send women here:

How else to explain the fact it just got to 70,000 signatures?!

Sign, like, share! At 100,000, the government will consider it for a debate in Parliament!

Hi on them, shock us with this wonderful research (links to the research including details of funding to be included please).

The jokes keep on coming. There are only two sexes. Male and female. One cannot become the other.

In other news, the world is round.

But they wouldn’t BE in “women’s spaces” would they? They’d be in “spaces” designed for people to get changed and to have a shit in, behind closed doors. As many school, new buildings, pubs, clothing shops, spas already do, with no additional problems. As I said, disabled people have always done this, and it seems to work just fine.

There are 'additional problems'. Read the thread. And disabled areas are usually singular locked spaces designated for one person, not the same 🙄

“Not the same”? In what way? Do you normally share your toilet cubicle with multiple people?

What are these discoveries? Gender, is not the same as SEX. Biology has not changed in saying there are only two SEXES. Gender, is a false manmade 'construct'. It's not real. Only sex is real, and immutable. Biology shows this.

Transwomen are transwonen. Biological males who, except for a vanishingly small number, all have their penises fully intact . I don't want to see it . I don't want to share a changing room with someone who is clearly a man despite the wearing of a 'woman costume'.

Exactly right.

But the protestations above as to the coyness and pearl clutching by those who don't want to catch sight of dicks in their changing areas are hilarious. Most women who are bi or heterosexual don't grab their rosary beads and utter 10 hail Mary's if they clap eyes on a cock. It's a fucking ridiculous point to make.

Female genitalia can't be used as a weapon to invasively enter the body of a man. Waving it about in others' spaces, were this even possible, would not be viewed as what it clearly is when men do the same: an implicit threat against women that their appendage can be weaponised against them, and a reminder of the fact because it gives them a sexual thrill. (Oddly enough, in many years of using female changing facilities I have never once seen a vulva on display). Then there's the worrying statistic that men who behave in this way go on to more serious sexual offences later.

Do it in a public park and you'll be arrested. But try the same thing on with women in a state of undress, in an enclosed space they can't easily get away from, and that's apparently a-okay. Traumatised victims of sexual offences matter, and should not have to give up their swimming activities because a sub-set of men wants to use them as human support vessels.

Men are entirely the cause of this issue. Men are the ones who have weaponized their dicks against the bodies of those who are smaller and less physically strong. If other born males who identify as women have an issue with this, that issue was caused by their own sex, and should be taken up with them.

Women didn't cause this. We can't control it. We can't cure it.

The types that believe men can turn into a woman are also the same type of people as flat earthers.

Except that whether you want to admit it or not, transgender women are actually far more likely to be the victim of a violent attack, in a public place, than a cis woman would be.

Oh bore off with your blatant unevidenced lies.

Cis is seen as a slur on this site as well. Women are not a subset of our sex class.

There's no such thing as "cis". It's an ideological term for believers in your quasi religious belief system. And yes, males are always at more risk of violence than women.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 15/01/2023 17:32
