The co ap cat. Aubi to complain

At my local co-op in the village where I live half of the time that I go in I go in there is a random cat walking around the aisles.
I have asked staff about this before but All they have really said is that it is the local cat and it is always in and out of the few little shops there.

I am definitely not a cat lover and I don't really like the thought of the cat walking around the food shop.
Aubi to complain or should I just let it go and drive further out to a different store if it bothers me.

Maybe Iabu then as it doesn't seem to bother others. I'll make the trip to the little Tesco about further out in future as I know it's a me issue really.

I just think about the fact that it's probably outside killing birds of vermin and then strolling around a food shop!

I think Co Ops must give off cat-friendly vibes. There used to be one who frequented our local branch. When he died a little plaque was put up outside 😻

Bodega Cats on Twitter make me nostalgic for my time in South America

Straycatblue · 14/01/2023 14:49

We have a local cat that sleeps in the foyer of supermarket , multiple attempts from store & owner to prevent him coming in have failed
He now has his own fb page & a basket in foyer for sleeping with a sign that says "Do Not Feed"
The kids love him , he's a local hero

ThinWomansBrain · 14/01/2023 14:49

have you seen the cat jumping/sitting in the unwrapped fruit?
If you don't like it, shop elsewhere, but if the cat is only walking around on the floor, I can't see what harm he/she is doing anyone else

TwoMonthsOff · 14/01/2023 14:49

But we have them in our homes, near our food and it’s fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

Glittersparkle76 · 14/01/2023 14:51

Oh for gods sake!,is this all you have to worry about?,get over yourself ffs

NoInvitesEver · 14/01/2023 14:51

Lucky it's not my cat - he will chew through the wrapper on pre-wrapped bread and eat the bread, and has eaten cucumber and chunks out of washing up sponges. Only the tinned food would be safe if he got in.

IDontCareMatthew · 14/01/2023 14:51

Dear god.... leave the poor animal be!

Bothers me far more that people are using the toilet without washing their hands and picking their noses, coughing etc and then actually touching things in the shop, the cat who is very unlikely to be touching anything other than the floor wouldn’t be on my radar. YABU

I’ve just looked at that ❤️ brilliant

You and hundreds of others walk on the same floors every time carrying god-knows-what in on your shoes. The food is more at risk from contamination from customers than a clean-pawed cat which wanders the aisles

🙄

And you walk around on pavements covered in bird shit, animal poo and filth and then walk around food shops!

CatNamedBob · 14/01/2023 14:53

You're being ridiculous. Plenty of people are far more unhygienic, picking up fruit with unwashed hands etc, than a cat is.

Megifer · 14/01/2023 14:53

Complain, we can't have other people enjoying something a bit quirky and certainly can't allow the shop staff to not be bothered about it. Hopefully they'll get warnings from h/o 👍

Marblessolveeverything · 14/01/2023 14:53

I reckon he is a secret health inspector.

Poor kitty popped to shop for a few bits now having strange lady taking his photo.

Straycatblue · 14/01/2023 14:54

Problem is stopping it ...

I imagine there's been loads of complaints but cats are clever

The one at our supermarket waits till a human activates automatic doors (sometimes he can do it himself by pacing about below the sensor ) then runs in with them.

Staff are fed up spending hours trying to keep him out it's an impossible task esp when short staffed & trying to work

harrassedmumto3 · 14/01/2023 14:54

Aww, I'd like this. I wonder if it has an owner.
However I don't blame you for not liking it.

Tinktravels · 14/01/2023 14:41

@SirCumference to be honest I doubt it's going to do anything to the food but I just really hate the thought of it .
I don't personally have allergies but a lot of people do!

Maybe I am just a cat hater.

There is uncovered fruit in store yes

I can't stand other people, but I'm not thinking about banning them from shops. Though secretly I'd quite like to. You're being ridiculous, go to another store if you don't like it.

Whatatimetobealivetoday · 14/01/2023 14:56

You do know that some people are probably much filthier than cats.

DonutsAreNotLunch · 14/01/2023 14:56

We have a Tesco cat that sits on the bin outside waiting for strokes from passers by Ive seen it being chased out by a member of staff before so I don’t think it’s allowed in the shop.
Wr also have a school cat that crosses at the lolly pop lady every morning and then hangs around outside the school all day, after school finishes it goes home again. It seems to absolutely hate children though so I’m not sure why it feels the need to come!

Tinktravels · 14/01/2023 14:57

Ok maybe I am being unreasonable as my problem is I just don't like it.

But what about people with allergies?

Lol this reminds me of the 10 year old at the gym thread. Queue the 100's of internet warriors to tell us how it violates the insurance policy and it should be reported cause it's not safe etc etc.

It's just a cat, get over it.

takeasadsongandmakeitbetter · 14/01/2023 14:57

We have a 'one stop cat'

I personally don't shop there but am aware of the cat and doesn't bother me... mostly sleeps next to the tills

Let them complain if they need to, mind your own business rather than looking for reasons to complain.
