Things that shouldn't be allowed....

Following on from the petrol price thread (and in true Victor Meldrew style) what do you think shouldn't be allowed......I'll kick off with the following.

Petrol should be the same price from a retailer no matter where you buy it from

Nothing should ever be double taxed (Petrol again....Fuel Duty and VAT!!!)

All displayed prices for anything should be inclusive of VAT

A Council should not be able to get away with paying for damage caused by potholes by saying 'We are aware and it's due to be fixed'

Electricity and Gas prices should be easy to understand

The same goes for Water (who last bought a cubic metre of water from a shop when they wanted a drink?)

If someone is sentenced to life for murder, this should mean for the rest of their life, not to be released after 10, 15, 20 years etc....

Companies shouldn’t be allowed to use excess packaging to fool you into thinking the contents are bigger/more than they are.

BT - the contracts and pricing structure, the billing, the options, the website - just everything

I will moan about Cadbury’s chocolate till the day I die! I remember it melting slowly and lusciously on one’s tongue, being creamy and rich and sweet and really feeling luxurious- the best chocolate! Now it’s waxy/crumbly, doesn’t melt properly, and I could eat a whole bar without feeling satisfied.

same goes for all chocolate to be honest, I have a total chocolate addiction but struggle to find stuff that truly hits the spot.

Standing charges for gas and electricity.

Dogs of leads in public parks. They should have a separate section. Not everyone likes dogs and or standing in their shit.

Patents not paying child maintenance to support their child/children, regardless of whether they are self employed, unemployed, living in a property with other dependants etc etc etc. You had the child, now pay up. The system in the UK is a disgrace.

I so agree with this - bought DH chocolate covered Turkish Delight as a treat for Xmas. The actual contents could have been stacked at one end of the tin in the space of an inch and a half. The contents were in plastic packaging which consisted of 6 moulded pockets - the tin itself measured 5 x 8 x 2 inches!! Ridiculous!! The packaging and the tin probably cost more than the contents themselves!!

Cemeteries shouldn't be allowed; we're a small island and there must be so much land given over to graves.

And vegetarian food that contains cheese.

Caravans should only be allowed on the single carriageway roads between 11pm and 6am.

That vegetarian food is not made to imitate food that contains meat, for example Bacon. If you are a vegetarian - eat the sodding things - don't dress them up or over-process them to be something they are not!!

Bidding wars shouldn’t be allowed on rented property, it only drives price up.

In general houses that aren’t in a fit state shouldn’t be able to be rented, landlords that refuse to fix basic problems ect.

I agree with you and I have had many large dogs over the years but the one thing that has always annoyed me is when there is dog poo in the park or on the road.

I never went anywhere without the poop bags and in my opinion there should be huge fines given to owners who do not pick up their dogs poo( sorry to keep saying poo 🫣) just like we get expensive parking fines.
