Having been following the Greta / Tate stuff on a number of different sites (and cheering Greta on so hard!) I see time and time again men (and yes it's men) posting about how if they were allowed their masculinity, Tate wouldn't have the fans but they get told that masculinity is toxic, how it's been taken away from them, how they are an "underclass".

What exactly has been taken away from men?!

As far as I can tell, Tate followers don't like the fact that women will no longer put up with being second class. Won't put up with being harassed or sexually assaulted. Are willing to stand up for themselves and be counted.

Are this section of men really so very weak that they are so threatened by this?

If you were a porn soaked 19 year old boy desperate to get laid you would probably have a totally different view. These are pretty toxic subgenres of despair and a place you should spend too much time after the research is done.David Icke ploughs pretty much the same furrow but without the overt violent misogyny.

At the start of the week, I had never even heard of Tate. Same as I’d never heard of Bear until I saw his court case in the news.

MN is the only SM I use - I’m not on Facebook, instagram, TikTok etc. I’m not on Twitter, which means I’m not blocked by anyone, so will dip in and out of accounts if something interesting comes up on here or in the news.

One tweet on Tate’s account, which I think I saw repeated on here, made me laugh. Tate tweeted “I don’t sleep with vaccinated women” and a response was “yay the vaccines work”.

Anyway, went down a bit of a rabbit-hole to find out a bit more about him. I made myself watch his interview with Piers Morgan as it seemed to be the most recent footage of him that’s not created for his account. Definitely an odd guy. And what’s with the weird accent?

I also checked out his Twitter page. I understand he’s not been back on there for long after a lengthy ban, so have no idea what he posted in the past. I just can’t get over the absolute twaddle he posts - how on earth does anyone find it inspiring? Had to screenshot these 2 peaches - there were plenty more, but jeez, what a knob.

No problem. FYI, if you ever see anything interesting mentioned re Twitter posts, it’s really easy to see them yourself.

Just google the persons name and ad Twitter at the end. Then, click on their Twitter link and you’ll be on their page. You can then happily (or not!) scroll through their content. You’ll likely get a box pop up asking you to sign-up or log-in, just click the X at the top of the box and you’ll be able to continue scrolling.

I find it a great way to get a better view of people’s thoughts, without the need to engage/get distracted/be blocked etc. It also means that you’re not subject to any of their algorithms re what content gets highlighted for you.

I know several female firefighters. All of whom could hoist 2 of me easily - they’re fit,
smart, brave, focused. - although, the images of a hunky firefighter running out of a burning building with someone on their shoulders belongs to Hollywood - rarely necessary
in reality they work in teams, with equipment, and don’t even enter a burning building unless they’re sure a person is inside. And they don’t risk an individual firefighter life ( male or female) to save another life unless they’re sure they can get to them.

I guess one thing that appeals to boys/men is that 'Act like a dick and disdain women' is easy to do, and makes you feel like you are Doing Something to change your life.

Of course sadly it won't even get most of its adherents laid, and will actively harm their ability to have meaningful, sustainable relationships because it teaches them they are 'owed' sex, deference etc. That they are worthy of respect whatever they do or say, but if a woman gets any at all from a man in the first place, she loses it the second she disagrees with him or doesn't act how he wants. Which is no way to conduct a relationship.

Misogynistic must be one of the most overused words these days. It's amazing how much more relaxed I felt when I realised that.

I used to do volunteer emergency services and I'm well aware that there are an increasing number of roles where tools/tech are more important than physical strength. But it's not "hatred of women" (please can we remember this is the definition) to want appropriate standards in recruiting for public safety roles, and to not want gender equality to be the primary goal when sex differences do continue to have relevance, which is all @Cuppasoupmonster is stating.

@Hellsmovie is also correct that AT hasn't been convicted and there is still a criminal justice process to go through in either Romania or the US. I continue to think that AT is a piece of shit but twitter isn't a court of law and I'd like it to remain that way!

you clearly read the posters message incorrectly as she was suggesting that no woman should be a firefighter due to strength or whatever which is patently bullshit. As I said I know many firefighters make and female and the women in the service as active firefighters are more than capable of saving a life on par with the men.
