Having been following the Greta / Tate stuff on a number of different sites (and cheering Greta on so hard!) I see time and time again men (and yes it's men) posting about how if they were allowed their masculinity, Tate wouldn't have the fans but they get told that masculinity is toxic, how it's been taken away from them, how they are an "underclass".

What exactly has been taken away from men?!

As far as I can tell, Tate followers don't like the fact that women will no longer put up with being second class. Won't put up with being harassed or sexually assaulted. Are willing to stand up for themselves and be counted.

Are this section of men really so very weak that they are so threatened by this?

Agree completely and to the pp who said AT has fewer fans today than yesterday, it’s the exact opposite. He has more.
I have started talking positively to my ds, pointing out fantastic male role models ( and there’s loads of them ) as I want him to think being male is great ( which it is) .
I don’t want a negative downtrodden son looking for a solution on the internet.

I think being complacent, ignoring him, belittling his “fans” is a very risky game. I’d rather tackle it head on, although I’m genuinely not sure how best to do that.

Can you tell me which positive male role models you direct them to? My 14 year old ds has been sucked in by Tate, he has just spent another 20 minutes defending him to me. It’s utterly depressing and really stresses me out.

I don’t think AT has lost a single fan due to his run in with Greta. Literally none of his fans overlap with hers. They are both playing to their home fans and both see what they want to see and think their hero/ heroine wins. Equally deluded imo.

A recent documentary I watched with my son was the Thai cave rescue. That is an absolute example of male role model positivity. The British rescuers with their obscure cave diving hobby and expertise knowledge, the Australian medic who devised the rescue plan to sedate the boys and implemented it and the young thai coach that kept 20 boys calm and alive for over a week. All fantastic and examples of positive masculinity.

It's not about an overlap of fans. It's about boys, who listened to AT, seeing him making a tool of himself and being burnt by a teenage girl young enough to be his daughter.

It's led to him getting arrested in Romania for people trafficking, so don't think he really can claim this as a win.

I really thought that people on the left would have learned something, after Brexit and Trump, about ignoring disenfranchised groups.

Although if it's lead to him revealing he was in Romania, and hence his arrest, then it has to be 1-0 to Greta. Although the true fans will see that as evidence of his unfair treatment. What was said up above about power in victimhood is unfortunately true.

Get him to listen to Andy Murray in conversation with Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe on the Today programme earlier this week. Andy is the antithesis of Tate, is worth at least £60m, a feminist, is a father of four and former world number one in his chosen career. That’s a role model.
