Married Couples with Children

Why do some married people act like being married with kids is better than being single?
That they are more well rounded and wouldn't be able to so their professions and whatever else if they didn't have a family?

Who’s done what OP?

Lexi868 · 28/12/2022 20:20

Who are these people acting this way? I'm married with kids but don't profess to be better off. Just happy with what i have without the comparison

PriOn1 · 28/12/2022 20:20

Why do some single people act like being single is better than being married with kids?

Because some people are arseholes?

Comedycook · 28/12/2022 20:21

Do they?

AndyWarholsPiehole · 28/12/2022 20:23

Who?

susiesuelou · 28/12/2022 20:24

Who are these people who wouldn't be able to do their professions without a family? I mean, I'd be able to do my job much more efficiently and professionally without my family if I'm honest. Getting calls at work every 5 mins to collect a sick child from nursery isn't exactly conducive to climbing the career ladder 😂

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 28/12/2022 20:25

Because some people think it's some kind of achievement, and that unmarried people are somehow 'lesser' because they haven't achieved it.

Aquarius1234 · 28/12/2022 20:26

It makes me laugh how they use being married with kids and being 'normal ' to convey confidence.

choccyporcupine · 28/12/2022 20:27

what’s the real life situation op? i can’t think of anyone i know who has kids and feels that helps their profession, most people i know don’t even work in their desired field because of their kids

namechangeforthisoneeee · 28/12/2022 20:28

You've got give us a bit more. Coz as it stands you sound bitter about god knows what

Divebar2021 · 28/12/2022 20:28

I don’t know anyone like that. I’ve never professed such a thing to anyone. I don’t really care what anyone thinks about being married - I dare say there are plenty of divorced people with plenty of negative things to say. I don’t know why someone who is single would be upset about some arsehole comment - just laugh at them OP.

Goldenbear · 28/12/2022 20:29

Yeah this is what I meant. Surely no one feels that having a family helped their career?! Particularly not mothers!

Seems so old fashioned.

Is there a drip feed coming?

I've never come across this either as a single person or a married person or a married with children person.

I think lots of middle aged men do...

PortiasBiscuit · 28/12/2022 20:33

You are just being goady OP, have a sherry and a couple of After Eights and behave yourself.

MajorCarolDanvers · 28/12/2022 20:33

Are we to guess what this is about

susiesuelou · 28/12/2022 20:33

Lots of middle aged men think having kids helped their career? How so?

ShadowPuppets · 28/12/2022 20:34

Eh?

My career has been absolutely fucked by having a family. DH would be able to have a much more glam role if he didn’t want to not be away regularly. My childfree friends of both sexes are earning many multiples of ££k more than the married with kids ones. Hope you’re ok though OP, sounds like somethings really riled you.

OfTheNight · 28/12/2022 20:34

You come across smug people in all walks of life.

I’ve never met anyone who felt having kids has helped their career though. It’s usually quite the opposite, especially for women.

StephanieSuperpowers · 28/12/2022 20:35

Not this again. OP, stop watching romantic comedies and confusing them with real life.

Vallmo47 · 28/12/2022 20:36

You’re massively generalising, OP.

35965a · 28/12/2022 20:36

Surely having DC does the opposite of help people in their careers?
You sound bitter about something.
