Son's main present major fail help!

Ds 13 got a new graphics card. His dad and me have no clue about stuff like that so asked the computer savvy expert in CEX where we bought it from. It was about £130. Dh asked specifically if it was right for our PC etc and how easy it was to fit. He was told really easy.
Fast forward to today old graphics card out, new 1 in but it won't work. Haven't a bloody clue. It won't connect to the monitor it says no signal. Now old 1 won't go back in so no PC at all. Poor DS is putting a brave face on but he was so excited for this. Evri lost 1 of his other presents so he's not got that much to be happy with arrghh!!

Had to come back to see if it got working after lurking earlier, what a fab way to end a brilliant day, well done all! so nice to see people pulling together. The world needs more of this 🥰 (I say, without having had a drink tonight!)

Returned hoping for a happy outcome and am thrilled for OP’s family and full of awe for the helpful posters.
Just so many of us can empathise with the OP’s problem — in several generations we’ve gone from most folk being able to understand the majority of the technology they need to the opposite.
