Son's main present major fail help!

Ds 13 got a new graphics card. His dad and me have no clue about stuff like that so asked the computer savvy expert in CEX where we bought it from. It was about £130. Dh asked specifically if it was right for our PC etc and how easy it was to fit. He was told really easy.
Fast forward to today old graphics card out, new 1 in but it won't work. Haven't a bloody clue. It won't connect to the monitor it says no signal. Now old 1 won't go back in so no PC at all. Poor DS is putting a brave face on but he was so excited for this. Evri lost 1 of his other presents so he's not got that much to be happy with arrghh!!

Put the 6 and 2 together and plug them in - MAKE SURE YOU TURN COMPUTER OFF FIRST!

Make sure you plug the cable for the graphics card into the computer and not into the motherboard.

Once plugged in you'll need to go the website for the graphics card and install the driver if you don't already have g force experience which will do it for you.

Ds said that should. I have duck all idea what he's talking about but he built his own gaming PC in 35 minutes 🤣🤣

Absolute bummer. Our son got a new card too but dh is in IT and with some trouble and quite a lot of colourful language, was able to get it up and running successfully. Ds2 was a nervous wreck while it was being installed.

So when it's in OP make sure it's fully in the socket and secure with the power cable in it the 12v one 8 pin. Then reconnect power to the power supply once you have it connected to the monitor. ☺️

And Swedish DH is holding his thumbs because that's what they do! 😂

We re currently hoping that the battery for DS2s Rc car charges and works cos a) didnt work after 4hrs charging and b) I may have already thrown away the box 😳😳😳

Got another techy DH here on standby if needed, I dimly recall the words 'graphics card' being used here from time to time 😂

OP has it shown a boot up screen when you turn on the pc, if it has the card is working the rest you need to do are software drivers from Nvidia.com

@VillaMaria71 if you have an HDMI cable for both the card and monitor you can use that.

Aw lovely thread hope it works OP. We’ve had our own tech issues today which appear temporarily solved. Like you I’m not tech savvy so if it’s not plug in and go it’s major stress!!
