Ds 13 got a new graphics card. His dad and me have no clue about stuff like that so asked the computer savvy expert in CEX where we bought it from. It was about £130. Dh asked specifically if it was right for our PC etc and how easy it was to fit. He was told really easy.
Fast forward to today old graphics card out, new 1 in but it won't work. Haven't a bloody clue. It won't connect to the monitor it says no signal. Now old 1 won't go back in so no PC at all. Poor DS is putting a brave face on but he was so excited for this. Evri lost 1 of his other presents so he's not got that much to be happy with arrghh!!

Doyouthinktheyknow · 25/12/2022 18:56

What do a wonderful thread, so pleased for a positive outcome🥳

Reminds me of the year ds2 wanted to build a computer for his birthday. It obviously didn’t go well, I ended up doing it and the fucker had to be taken to a computer store to get it working and was never right!

I absolutely knew what would happen, really should have been an absolute no but ds2 was so keen to try.

I’m a nurse by the way, have to Google everything beyond cutting and pasting in word, I’m basically computer Illiterate🤣🤣

BinBandit · 25/12/2022 19:04

I've not read the full thread and I can see that you are now sorted, but for future reference there is a website called pcpartpicker. You can input the parts you have and it will tell you whether they are compatible or not - particularly useful if you are building a full PC. Also lots of brilliant forums (just google) where people are incredibly helpful and supportive. We once had a chap from Sweden helping us with an issue on boxing day!

This is an example of the internet community at its best. Amazing. Now if the wider world was so selfless there would be far fewer problems!
