Feels Meghan has done to him to justify the vitriol and misogyny of that article he wrote where he’d like to see her naked and assaulted?

I mean WTF? How in earth did a major publication think that it was fine to publish his little sexual fantasy about hurting a woman like that?

I’m no fan of the Royals in any form, and could care less about their infighting, but why are we surprised that there is so much violence against women and girls when this kind of article by an influential man is seen as okay to write?
Where’s his description of a naked, vulnerable Harry being assaulted??

Of course she has a brand, don't be naive

Nogbreaks · 22/12/2022 13:50

‘They don't need to say anything at all, obviously they wouldnt condone it.’

why is it obvious if they’ll complain about the suggestion that one DIL may have had Botox but refuse to comment when their other DIL is threatened with violence and have shit thrown at their naked body as she’s paraded in front of a howling mob?

They all have a ‘brand’ or an image.

The Queen is reputed to have joked "apres moi le deluge" . The problem for the RF is there will never, ever be another QE2 so widely respected globally and unerring in her discipline, stoicism and approach to the "job2 and everybody, whether they be royalist or republican knows it to be so.

If the circus goes on in this way for the future, with constant fire fighting and behind the curve of "the people" then they would be better off abdicating and becoming just another aristocratic family answerable to no one but themselves and the law.

Meghan and Harry are actually blazing the trail to unlock the gilded cage for them all.

Rhondaa · 22/12/2022 14:04

'Meghan and Harry are actually blazing the trail to unlock the gilded cage for them all'

Is that a quote from their reality show? If not it should be, sounds just like the pretentious stuff they spout <gilded cage lol>

Absolutely.

The monarchy cannot run away from its sheer ridiculousness and the more it draws attention to its flaws the more its irrelevance will be on show.

The idea of servility to a group of people and of the superiority of people who quite factually have no great achievement or qualities to speak of is laughable. It is a British tradition but one lacking sense.

Factor in racism, unhealthy relationship with the tabloids, closeness to questionable people from questionable regimes, pettiness, coldness, etc and the whole thing feels like an expensive burden.

There is a reason why the Monarchy appeals mainly to older folk. A younger more multicultural GB aren’t so servile or enamoured.

IClaudine · 22/12/2022 14:14

Some people seem awfully wound up by the "reality show". I haven't watched it, but am tempted to now to see if Janiie and other angry viewers are right about it or not.

Maximinimalist · 22/12/2022 14:15

And the brand of The Royal Family is well and truly dust across most parts of the world. It started with the treatment of Diana and now Harry and Meghan.

Nogbreaks · 22/12/2022 14:36

‘Gilded cage’ is a fairly standard phrase for being trapped in luxury, but trapped all the same. @Janiie did you think the phrase pretentious becuase you had to look up gilded in a dictionary?

Apparently he likes to shock. He probably thought it sounded funny in his head or something.

reddit did an out of the loop post asking why he did it and the top answer was something like “ because he’s an old white conservative “ or similar.

Pismascrescents · 22/12/2022 14:41

I think their silence on this is consistent with their silence on the Netflix show.

ReneBumsWombats · 22/12/2022 14:48

Small point that may not be relevant, but I believe the Palace spoke about Kate's ostensible extensions and Botox because providers were claiming she was their client, and they can't be seen to be endorsing anything commercial unless by royal warrant.

That is fair enough. However, condemning virulent misogyny aimed at a family member would seem to me to be more important than making sure they are not assumed to be endorsing a product or service.

Perhaps you should put yourself forward as chief advisor regarding comms isuues? Or, just accept they know what they are doing and to comment on a Sun column or a gossipy telly show isn't what they do, nor do most of us want them to.

that’s not true, we know every designer she wears, the shops her kids clothes come from, the hair salon she goes to.
They commented on this because it reflects her in a poor light.

'Something, anything'

And who said something or anything about the abuse Camilla received yet she has proven by ignoring it and being the better person is what wins in the end. She is hugely popular now but she could have dined out of her treatment and had poor me books/shows galore. To what end though? It never helps.

I agree. Camilla suffered loads of abuse. I'm not in the Harry and Meghan fan club by any means but Clarksons words were disgusting. I agree though the RF shouldn't enter the fray.

The current advisors are not doing such a great job right now, so I reckon I could have a go! I might see if there are any vacancies. Thanks for giving me the idea and Merry Christmas 🎄

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2022 16:24

Wills & Kates advisors are doing a pretty dreadful job in fairness. That Caribbean tour was a mess.

If you sabotage the fuckers I will personally buy you a pint next Christmas.

Mind you, you could hardly do a worse job ...

StormzyinaTCup · 22/12/2022 17:44

Absolutely no need for the RF to say anything, they just need keep calm and carry on. They'll still be going strong long after we have all shuffled off this mortal coil so not worth stewing over tbh.

‘'However, condemning virulent misogyny aimed at a family member would seem to me to be more important than making sure they are not assumed to be endorsing a product or service.'

They were panicking that St Kate might be tarnished with the rumour that she uses Botox ( which she probably does TBF) to ‘cheat’ on looking good. As if the woman isn’t already professionally groomed to within an inch of her life

T1Dmama · 22/12/2022 23:35

I’ve no idea what he’s said… but he’s a pretty vile man anyway! (In general)
i’m not a fan of M&H by any means, but his obsession is just weird…

@T1Dmama a quick Google will help!
