To ask what exactly Clarkson

Feels Meghan has done to him to justify the vitriol and misogyny of that article he wrote where he’d like to see her naked and assaulted?

I mean WTF? How in earth did a major publication think that it was fine to publish his little sexual fantasy about hurting a woman like that?

I’m no fan of the Royals in any form, and could care less about their infighting, but why are we surprised that there is so much violence against women and girls when this kind of article by an influential man is seen as okay to write?
Where’s his description of a naked, vulnerable Harry being assaulted??

'How can we respect Charles as King and leader when he spinelessly refuses to speak out against Clarkson’s vile comments about his DIL'

Did the Queen speak out about 'Duchess of pork' comments or the years of abuse Camilla got? No. Because They don't do public slanging matches, they aren't all participating in a reality show.

IClaudine · 22/12/2022 11:08

Things have moved on a lot since the Duchess of Pork thing 30+ years ago. For example, William speaks about issues like mental health and racism. The Palace commented about Kate and botox rumours.

The continued silence from the Palace only serves to bolster what H&M have been saying.

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2022 11:13

Sexual/humiliation fantasies of parading a woman naked and slinging shit at her is on quite a different level to those examples, don't you think?

Having said that, Duchess of Pork in particular was appalling and indicates that press targeting of royal women marrying in should been reigned in a long time ago.

They don't do public slanging matches

Except if it's Kate's Botox. Or hair extensions. They refuted those. That's all they had to do here. A simple state of condemnation.

Having said that, they're only hurting themselves with this. I'm seeing a lot of anger from people about their response - particularly people who wouldn't considered themselves 'fans' of H&M.

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2022 11:14

Exactly. Spectacular own goal.

You've really got to wonder what the press have on them that they're afraid of coming out in retaliation?

FancyFran · 22/12/2022 11:14

In light of this disgusting lack of family unity I think KC will have a very different coronation. I have been a supporter of the RF all my life and I will not be watching it unless they take a stand on this abuse. I know where I would like to put my flag!

Nogbreaks · 22/12/2022 11:36

It does, doesn’t it.

Absolutely not. In the same way they won't respond publicly to their reality show nor will they respond to Sun columns. Good for them. Don't dignify such crap with a response.

But they dignify Botox claims.

priorities

IClaudine · 22/12/2022 13:07

The RF PR machine will comment on speculation that a white woman has hair extentions, but not on a white man's vile fantasies about a black woman being pelted with excrement. Says it all. I hope this is the beginning of the end for the entire institution.

“A spokesman for the Duchess at St James's Palace confirmed last night that it was the result of surgery as a young child. The scar related to a childhood operation,' they said."

Rhondaa · 22/12/2022 13:08

'But they dignify Botox claims.'

Yeah and they also ignore a shitload of criticism, slurs and allegations.

It would be as ridiculous if they publicly said 'Jezza C is disgusting' than if they said 'Harry's reality show is a cringesfest of epic proportions and consists of non stop varied recollections'.

Sometimes the facts just speak for themselves.

IClaudine · 22/12/2022 13:11

Sometimes the facts just speak for themselves

Indeed they do. In this case, the facts show that there is a truthful basis to some of M&H's narrative.

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2022 13:11

It would be as ridiculous if they publicly said 'Jezza C is disgusting

All they have to say is that they don't condone shit flinging, humiliation fantasies of Harry's wife in the press.

Basic human decency.

Even if you can't see that, plenty of pro Charles/Wills types are starting to. It'll only hurt them in the end.

Roussette · 22/12/2022 13:15

Basic human decency indeed.

Why can't Camilla put out a statement in her role championing a DV charity... saying just something like... 'words matter, domestic violence is not just physical'.

Something, anything. I had no particular opinion about Camilla but now she has gone down in my estimation a lot.

Rhondaa · 22/12/2022 13:26

'All they have to say is that they don't condone shit flinging, humiliation fantasies of Harry's wife in the press.'

They don't need to say anything at all, obviously they wouldnt condone it. Once they start offering critiques of the Sun as I said they're on the slippery slope to reviewing grubby reality shows.

They are better rising above it.

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2022 13:29

They don't need to say anything at all, obviously they wouldnt condone it.

No evidence to suggest that and Camilla hanging out with the writer doesn't look like condoning at all.

They can't hide behind 'rising above' when they aren't consistent about that policy. It's a bankrupt statement.

Rhondaa · 22/12/2022 13:29

'Something, anything'

And who said something or anything about the abuse Camilla received yet she has proven by ignoring it and being the better person is what wins in the end. She is hugely popular now but she could have dined out of her treatment and had poor me books/shows galore. To what end though? It never helps.

vera99 · 22/12/2022 13:30

The BRF didn’t even have to demand the article be taken down. They couldn’t even put together the most basic lukewarm response of something like,

“The Queen Consort finds the article deeply unfortunate, especially so in light of her work preventing violence against women and condemns it in the strongest possible manner. Furthermore she was deeply saddened by the tone and misogynist nature of the views expressed.

She is delighted to be working with women and organizations that seek to help and support women who have experienced domestic violence and there is no place in the 21st century for these views to be expressed. "

But nope, couldn’t even do that, and in not doing a damn thing they proved to so many people on the fence about the H&M doc that they were right.

I think her popularity has dropped somewhat since this debacle. Was she really ever hugely popular? Not from what I have seen.

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2022 13:32

Yes I think Camilla just flew under the radar for a while.

Now, unfortunately for her, she's really damaged her brand.

As if they'd release this. It was in The Sun. We aren't taking Panorama or Newsnight here. A trolly paper included a trolly column. Move on and stop giving it more oxygen.

You'll be expecting them to tell off the trolls on twitter next

Roussette · 22/12/2022 13:41

Ahhh so it doesn't matter then, because it wasn't JC being interviewed on Panorama.
Ridiculous.
It was an article in a mainstream newspaper, rag though it is. And it's received over 21,000 complaints, more than has ever been received for any article. That tells you something.

Rhondaa · 22/12/2022 13:41

'Now, unfortunately for her, she's really damaged her brand.'

Her 'brand'? What the dv charities she supports is a brand?

She hasn't damaged anything. JC has perhaps limited his career options a bit here that is the only damage this has caused.

TheKeatingFive · 22/12/2022 13:42

Move on and stop giving it more oxygen.

You think Camilla's little Christmas lunch didn't give it oxygen?

The queen would have handled this differently as she had a much better understanding of the public mood and messaging than either her son or grandson. They just don't have these skills. It'll be interesting walking them crash land.

Her brand means her as Queen Consort. That's how I take it anyway

The RF are all about spin and media manipulation to keep the public on side. She's lost some of her supporters I would think
