To ask what exactly Clarkson

Feels Meghan has done to him to justify the vitriol and misogyny of that article he wrote where he’d like to see her naked and assaulted?

I mean WTF? How in earth did a major publication think that it was fine to publish his little sexual fantasy about hurting a woman like that?

I’m no fan of the Royals in any form, and could care less about their infighting, but why are we surprised that there is so much violence against women and girls when this kind of article by an influential man is seen as okay to write?
Where’s his description of a naked, vulnerable Harry being assaulted??

It's got to be the sub and the editor's job to stop this shit getting to print. I would say Clarkson never goes straight to print with his history. So more worrying than a slightly deranged increasing irelevant man saying this, is what is embedded in the organisation that passes it through to be printed.

I saw a couple of episodes of his farm show; he's as thick as mince, as well as a vile racist. Didn't he cheat on his wife, too? Nothing to recommend him at all.

I agree with PP that the Palace need to step in and make a statement.

To those 11% voting YABU , just replace the name Meghan to Kate in the article and see how you feel about voting. JC should be cancelled and so does the Palace for not standing behind her. I don’t like Meghan but this vile culture of misogyny has to stop, its 2022 FFS!!!

Yes, I’ve rethought my take on Kanye. The reporting of his troubled actions is mostly what is wrong here. Especially given what he said most recently about Jews. He is unwell. But people who want to hate Jewish people will feel emboldened by his published views. This seems to be really about the indecent standards of some sections of the media, again.

I agree. When I started out in journalism it was quite different and I feel quite grief-stricken to watch standards plummet to the reprehensible. I think we need to lobby lawmakers to reduce the use of opinion and gossip dressed up as news on media platforms.

Seems almost as if the royal family approves of the hatred and essentially encourages it.

Clarkson using it as a reference with a real woman was stupid and not funny. Just like many bad taste attempts at humour, see my previous comment regarding John bishop joking about killing his wife and putting her head in the fridge. I doubt he was suggesting he was actually going to kill her.

That said it isn't nonsense to judge people who are thrilled with GOT's excess brutality and degradation of women. It is weird to enjoy that crap. 'Epic fantasy' or not.

Has John bishops wife been subjected to a years long hate campaign from the British press then?

I don't think the two things are comparable.

I think that more than a senseless man saying something coming from witch hunting times is the newspaper that allowed this to get out there for everyone to see.

The News of the World was the sister publication of the Sun, you know the major publication who hacked a missing teenagers voicemail, whose actions hindered the Police investigation of her disappearance and murder and led to false hope. The Sun publicising JC’s disgusting misogyny is neither surprising or shocking.

I’ve brought it up, two times now. (Possibly on other threads). JC’s article was a vile disgrace, but a person would have to think it’s gone through a number of levels - subeditor, editor etc. - and that this sort of article is in keeping with the culture at the Sun. He didn’t just tweet it out randomly in the night.

This. That’s wasn’t some huge garden party with 100s in attendance, it was an intimate lunch in a restaurant - the Royals are not oblivious to the press, which journalists write what, their opinions on certain things.
theh have press secretaries, PR people, while teams looking after their image.
Camilla knows the kind of stuff both Morgan and Clarkson say and write about her step son’s wife. And yet they were both there, welcomed with open arms.
