To ask what exactly Clarkson

Feels Meghan has done to him to justify the vitriol and misogyny of that article he wrote where he’d like to see her naked and assaulted?

I mean WTF? How in earth did a major publication think that it was fine to publish his little sexual fantasy about hurting a woman like that?

I’m no fan of the Royals in any form, and could care less about their infighting, but why are we surprised that there is so much violence against women and girls when this kind of article by an influential man is seen as okay to write?
Where’s his description of a naked, vulnerable Harry being assaulted??

Yes, I'm as old as him, probably older. I feel for the women in his life who deserve immeasurably better.

Nogbreaks · 19/12/2022 12:03

‘Clarkson claimed people his age agreed with him, anyone his age care to say whether that's true or not?’

that can’t be true, can it? Surely women in their 50 and 60s don’t think it’s fine for a man, any man, to spew such vile commentary about a young women.
i know I’ve put up with enough misogynistic crap in my 40’odd years to only feel more protective to younger women who are often the target of bitter old men.

If Gwyneth Paltrow married into the British royal family, then moaned about her publicity, moved back to America, and attempted to make millions trading on her royal connections, I'm sure she'd get just as much bile.

You truly think Clarkson would write about her being paraded naked and covered in shit?

FrippEnos · 19/12/2022 12:05

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2022 10:53

Clarkson is doing what he is being paid to do. Being a controversial loud mouth oaf that gets himself publicity. I am surprised that anyone takes him seriously not that that ever justifies what he has said.

I expect people said that about the Flack press coverage also.

On the Camilla posts, she didn't host the party, and it was a few days before this all kicked off

The point being more about Clarkson clearly thinking this piece wouldn't be problematic for her and the deafening silence from the palace backing that up

Just so that we don't forget, Flack was an abuser that smashed a lamp in to her sleeping boyfriends head.

Why should Camilla have to say anything?

Morestrangethings · 19/12/2022 12:06

newnamethanks · 19/12/2022 11:59

Clarkson is a knackered, misogynistic drunk whose obnoxious views should have no place on a public stage. Just another spoilt, entitled public schoolboy who should be spending some of his vast income on therapy instead of claret. Anyone who pays attention to his racist, perverted bitter rants, or has some empathy with them, also needs help.

Yes the editors and publishers of the paper his ‘article’ was published in do need help.

Sweet jesus no. He's the same age as I am, on paper, and I can't think of a simgle woman that I know who would feel that this level of misogyny is OK.

DrDinosaur · 19/12/2022 12:09

Iwantmyoldnameback · 19/12/2022 11:36

I think you can safely assume he doesn't have daughters, or a partner or a sexlife.

LOL! I'm a married 60 year old woman, with a delightful grown up daughter.

I'm 5 years older than Clarkson, and I vehemently disagree with him. But maybe that 5 years gives me a bit more maturity.

cakeorwine · 19/12/2022 12:10

It's a bit disappointing that his co-workers haven't spoken up.
There is all this talk about men speaking up and calling other men out.
I guess it's just talk.

Carole Vordeman (I hope I've spelled that correctly) said many people his age don't agree.

But I took a look at the comments on a daily m. article about it. The comments in support of JC were overwhelmingly upvoted. Thousands of votes this morning. I found that equally disturbing because it shows how much support there is for violent misogyny.

I’m around his age and it’s not true.

But his editors okayed it, and the paper published it so there’s a good chance they agree with him. Which is a pretty frightening thought, for now and the future.

ReneBumsWombats · 19/12/2022 12:05

Yes.
Because it's her behaviour that makes her irritating, not the colour of her skin.
It is possible to dislike a black person without being motivated by racism.

newnamethanks · 19/12/2022 12:14

Hang on @Nogbreaks, regardless of age, we are women and therefore, to the many Clarksons of this world, our frilly, silly views Do Not Count for anything so can be safely ignored.

I mean, if you look at the DM comment section on this, there are thousands and thousands of upvotes for those agreeing with him.

I've suspected for some time that many people have reached a point in hatred for Meghan that she could literally be assassinated and they would see it as a good thing.

The press have radicalised a substantial amount of people to see her as subhuman. This from Clarkson is just the tip of the iceberg. Once he gets away with this (and he will), it'll be open season on violent fantasies about her seeing the light of day.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 19/12/2022 12:15

Both of us are his age group and and neither of us agree and DH could not be described political, woke or a royalist.

ImJustMadAboutSaffron · 19/12/2022 12:16

Beachbabe1 · 19/12/2022 12:02

I was so upset by this when I heard this morning. Why is a grown man (him and Piers Mogan) so enthused with bringing a young woman, a young Mum down!? I am sickened by the level of hatred towards her. What exactly has she done wrong?? Imagine how she feels this morning. Clarkson should imagine how he would feel if an old man said that about his daughter!! As for the Sun newspaper, they should be held accountable and he should be sacked!!! I'm so upset and angry by this. Leave the woman alone!!! Please!! This also proves everything they have said about the media! Nasty, racist bullies!!!

I can think of a lot that Meghan and Harry have done wrong. That doesn't excuse Jeremy Clarkson from writing this stupid article with overblown comparisons.

cakeorwine · 19/12/2022 12:16

Radicalised is right. Constant articles blaming her and Harry for everything, constant attacks, constant negativity.

It's how you promote hate against someone.

Well I've read it a few times now and you still seem to be saying that Meghan manipulated Clarkson into his inexcusable misogyny. Since you call her manipulative and say he played right into her hands.

Try reading it again. Yes she is manipulative (although at no point did I state that she manipulated him personally) . Yes she will use these comments to her advantage.

yes Jcs comments are inexcusable and misogynistic.

All of these things can be true at the same time!!!

daretodenim · 19/12/2022 12:20

I am glad to hear though from reading this thread that I'm young! A "young mum"! I'm the same age as MM. I've never been referred to as a "young mum".

Don't infantilise MM to make what JC said worse. She's a grown woman and a mother. She's not young. And that's totally fine. What he said is abhorrent and not a single thing about her age, character or behaviour makes it worse or better. She's entirely independent from his words. They reflect HIM not anything about her. Referring to her as a "young mother" or "young woman" (she's in her 40s) actually serves to imply that being "young" makes it worse, meaning if she were older it wouldn't be so bad. She's not young and her age (or anything else) doesn't have a shred of influence over how horrific his words are.

Octo5 · 19/12/2022 12:23

Because it's her behaviour that makes her irritating, not the colour of her skin.

@DrDinosaur

What has she done so badly to people like you or Jeremy Clarkson that makes you sit at home seething and liken her to someone like Rose West??

I've read it several times. You call her manipulative and say that his disgusting vitriol "plays into her hands". And now, in case you hadn't made it clear enough, you're adding that this venom has advantaged her.

If this nasty shit isn't what you mean to say, then stop saying it!

vera99 · 19/12/2022 12:03

Time to initiate the S.C.U.M. manifesto - off to the knife drawer......

I wouldn't go quite that far. How about the sentiment revealed in the eloquent title of a play by the same author, as a nice little sentiment on where Clarkson can stick his antiquated, misogynistic hate speech?

The play is called 'Up Your Ass'.

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2022 12:25

Just so that we don't forget, Flack was an abuser that smashed a lamp in to her sleeping boyfriends head.

Looked like a complicated relationship and we all make mistakes. Does that make the press campaign that hounded her to her death okay then?

Why should Camilla have to say anything?

Because she's been hanging out socially with two men who've said disgusting things about her DIL in the press. For her own reputation she should be distancing herself from them and their words. But her / the palace's actions are doing nothing but prove H&M's point.
