Feels Meghan has done to him to justify the vitriol and misogyny of that article he wrote where he’d like to see her naked and assaulted?

I mean WTF? How in earth did a major publication think that it was fine to publish his little sexual fantasy about hurting a woman like that?

I’m no fan of the Royals in any form, and could care less about their infighting, but why are we surprised that there is so much violence against women and girls when this kind of article by an influential man is seen as okay to write?
Where’s his description of a naked, vulnerable Harry being assaulted??

Astonishing line of questioning on BBC2 right now from a (female) presenter. Everly question is basically 'but are you sure she hasn't provoked it?'

FFS get a grip everyone, he clearly isn't seriously saying he wants this to happen to her, he is using hyperbole to communicate how irritating he finds her.
As do I, and its nothing to do with her racial background, it's because she's a vacuous, narcissistic, woke Californian.

Stop patronising us.

Piggywaspushed · 19/12/2022 11:45

Loved the interviewee's parting shot though ...'as for bringing the RF into disrepute, I have two words for you. Prince Andrew'.

It’s vile but honestly the best thing that could have happen for Megan and Harry.

Many people disliked Megan and thought she was over reacting or fabricating her experiences but this just proves that she was telling the truth.

If you don’t like someone it’s fair enough to say I don’t like this person because of X, Y, Z.

But to hate someone so much (and for no personal reasons) that you want her subjected to humiliation and violence and say she’s worse than an animal like Rose West is beyond vile and I worry for my own daughter that men not only feel this way but will happily publicly say it.

Imagine someone saying something so vile about your daughter, sister or wife.

The fact that his daughter who claims she’s against bullying and misogyny has fully supported his statement is disgusting and I hope she’s removed from media outlets too.

If she doesn’t like Megan (has she ever even met her?) then she could have said she agrees with the sentiment but not the way he said it - but instead she agrees with the humiliation and violence of a women who has never hurt anyone.

Agree. I struggle with such concepts and think people who express such views of hate against someone they never met or know, and has no bearing on their lives and go off rumours need to give their heads a wobble.

There has been a noticeable double standard when it comes to Kate and Meghan with evidence and people chose not to believe or even say.. well Kate went through the same thing as if that makes it any better. This type of stuff should be ending not continuing considering the damage it causes. I can only imagine what the next generation of royal women go through if it doesn’t end at some point, but it speaks of our culture. It’s ridiculous now but I also know some enjoy the drama 🙄.

I also notice some forget that there have been people out there that have attacked and stalk celebrities. Numerous female celebrities have spoken about this and the violation only to be told well pat for the course and victim blamed because of it and then when something happens “shock horror”.

Brunilde · 19/12/2022 11:46

Jeremy Clarkson, Piers Morgan etc have made a name for themselves by being outrageously cunty. It is their brand and what generates income for them. The best opposition to this behaviour would be to say nothing, because for every comment/click/article view generated from this they are getting paid. So by putting this post up and highlighting it to others you are doing exactly as expected. They know it the editors know it etc.

In a social media age boring and sensible content unfortunately isn't as profitable as drama.

Octo5 · 19/12/2022 11:46

Kanye seems to be uncancellable.

I completely disagree with much of what Kanye says but he’s got SEND and MH issues and says things when he’s not taking his meds.
So although it’s not ok still, at least he’s got more of an excuse than Jeremy has.

He’s also regularly getting removed from SM and many companies have pulled out of working with him, which I agree with but I don’t see people doing that with Jeremy Clarkson.

Jeremy Clarkson seems to have much more protection than other celebs do, even though he’s done a lot worse.

Roussette · 19/12/2022 11:34

So the only thing wrong with it is that he's given some traction to Meghan's claims about vile, bullying and racist media articles?

We, no. Can you not read? I said “Inexcusable misogynistic comments” Christ alive, some people just want to be offended!!! Is that you Meghan?

Gwyneth Paltrow could also be said to be a woke, irritating Californian. She gets some mild stick for it, but nothing like the bile that is spewed about MM. I wonder why that is?🤔

Well I've read it a few times now and you still seem to be saying that Meghan manipulated Clarkson into his inexcusable misogyny. Since you call her manipulative and say he played right into her hands.

Roussette · 19/12/2022 11:51

'Is that you Meghan'. Yawn.

Anyway... Alisha Dixon talking about talent shows etc and being interviewed on This Morning, and as she said goodbye, she said 'Oh and, Jeremy Clarkson should be muzzled'
Well done her.

Not read many PPs but keep thinking how many men (or women) think like JC and that H +M never realised/considered their security would be very much at risk from all their complaints about RF and always will be and also that of their children probably. They have stirred up a hornets' nest. How did they never think of this?

Nice victim blaming there.

You seem to think that if we all shut up and stopped demanding equal treatment and calling out misogyny, the misogynists would stop hating us. Well they fucking well wouldn't, and women should never stop exposing shit like the stuff Clarkson et al come out with.

Women still wouldn't have the vote if they hadn't fought, and in some cases died, for it.

Roussette · 19/12/2022 11:53

Well said @LakieLady

Some people just want women to shut up and not fight against mysogynistic behaviour.
Well... that ain't happening.

tulips27 · 19/12/2022 11:54

Clarkson claimed people his age agreed with him, anyone his age care to say whether that's true or not?

Hmmph · 19/12/2022 11:55

It would be nice if people would focus on blaming JC and the S*n for publication.

Stop blaming Meghan, Kate and Camilla.

TheKeatingFive · 19/12/2022 11:56

Why isn't the palace condemning this though? It would be their chance to show that they have Meghan's back against the press.

NoShrunking · 19/12/2022 11:58

There's actually layer on layer of misogyny here, because the issue starts with Game of Thrones.

I never watched it, so have been off to do my research - in part because I couldn't remember anything about naked walks of shame and shit-throwing, and so it didn't seem very authentically medieval to me.

Anyway, they said it was based on the public shaming of Jane Shore, a mistress of Edward II. And if you take a look at her story a) she was wearing her underclothes, not naked (so stripped of her status which was the point) and b) people jeered but there is no mention of shit throwing and specific mention that she came to no physical harm.

So, the deeply misogynistically demeaning bits were invented by Game of Thrones. And then taken on by Clarkson.

Not that there was much defence anyway, but the medieval mindset isn't it. They were actually more respectful.

Nogbreaks · 19/12/2022 11:58

‘If Jeremy Clarkson daughter posted on MN for advice..... keep in mind she'd be anonymous!

you'd all be saying to stay away and keep the baby away from him ....wouldn't you ?’

yes, if some poster on here came in and said their dad had said that, was she BU to keep the dad away from her daughters, the majority would say absolutely go NC with him, keep him and his vile views away from the kids, and people would wonder about whether or not those kids might even be safe with a grandad who advocated the sexual humiliation and assault of a young woman …

I'm older. I vehemently don't agree with him (understatement)

newnamethanks · 19/12/2022 11:59

Clarkson is a knackered, misogynistic drunk whose obnoxious views should have no place on a public stage. Just another spoilt, entitled public schoolboy who should be spending some of his vast income on therapy instead of claret. Anyone who pays attention to his racist, perverted bitter rants, or has some empathy with them, also needs help.

LakieLady · 19/12/2022 12:00

As do I, and its nothing to do with her racial background, it's because she's a vacuous, narcissistic, woke Californian.

"Woke" is one of those words that says far more about the person using it than the person they're using it about.

It wasn't just women. He is just as awful to men (think torture and literal emasculation). Bloody brilliant series!

Yuck

Beachbabe1 · 19/12/2022 12:02

I was so upset by this when I heard this morning. Why is a grown man (him and Piers Mogan) so enthused with bringing a young woman, a young Mum down!? I am sickened by the level of hatred towards her. What exactly has she done wrong?? Imagine how she feels this morning. Clarkson should imagine how he would feel if an old man said that about his daughter!! As for the Sun newspaper, they should be held accountable and he should be sacked!!! I'm so upset and angry by this. Leave the woman alone!!! Please!! This also proves everything they have said about the media! Nasty, racist bullies!!!

DrDinosaur · 19/12/2022 12:02

If Gwyneth Paltrow married into the British royal family, then moaned about her publicity, moved back to America, and attempted to make millions trading on her royal connections, I'm sure she'd get just as much bile.

Rainbunny · 19/12/2022 12:03

I'm willing to bet that men in his age group might well think similarly.

I personally think his outrage is a symptom of the (too slow) loss of control over society by men of a certain generation*. It's a sign of emotional impotence. In some ways Clarkson's rant is the old white male version of sending an unsolicited dick pic to a woman who he knows will be disgusted to receive it. It's a pathetic attempt to assert some "masculine" power to women who will hold them in contempt, something that infuriates them.

Male rage is as old as the hills.

  • Not all men obviously, my lovely dear father was a true feminist and would have been disgusted by Clarkson.
