I feel terrible, I’m coughing so hard that I’m weeing, I feel like my head is going to explode and it’s making me retch! Is there anything that works to calm it down?! I’m at my wits end

Yes. Tena lady territory.

Feel horrible and fluey too (not saying it so flu for the pedants, but feels horrible)

Fladdermus · 07/12/2022 17:26

Yes, I'm just starting to come out of it after 8 weeks and many packets of Tena Lady. It's awful.

Schoolstresses · 07/12/2022 17:26

I have it too off the back of having covid 3 weeks ago. Its as extreme as yours in that its making me wee myself too 😥

Havent found a solution yet but hopefully someone will have some advice.

nancydroo · 07/12/2022 17:26

DH DD and DS have it. I'm next!

Wombatbum · 07/12/2022 17:28

I’ll have to drag my sorry bum to the supermarket because I only have sanitary pads and they are not cutting it! Oh the shame 😱

It's calmed down a lot now I'm on week 4. Not coughing as often or as hard now. It was a nightmare at first, I'd literally lie in bed coughing for an hour before I could get to sleep, same would happen if I woke in the night and got a tickle in my throat. I had the most painful throat I've ever had for the first couple of weeks too, so was living on paracetamol until it eased!

Tuvala · 07/12/2022 17:32

I’ve had a cough for a month now. It’s really getting me down.
It started with just a simple cold but the cough has been unreal and is still going!

Longleggedgiraffe · 07/12/2022 17:36

You need to seek medical help, if only for relief. The last time I was with symptoms like yours, I ended up with Pneumonia and COVID at the same time. A year later and my lungs are now permanently scarred. I hope it's not so bad for you, but please take care of yourself.

Wombatbum · 07/12/2022 17:36

I got home from work an hour and a half ago and have literally coughed non-stop since.

Big hugs to everyone else suffering. I’ll cry if I have this for a month 😩

Coughing so hard I’m worried I’m going to give myself an aneurysm. And a really ragged sore throat too. Not nice.

Noodle20 · 07/12/2022 17:38

Yes I cough so much I wet myself and I vomit too!! All bones hurt, my face hurts, my throat is sore as anything!!
Much worse at night! Desperate for it to ease up now, I can't imagine having this for a month!!

Tuvala · 07/12/2022 17:48

I tried to contact my GP but they wouldn’t see me unless the cough has gone on for more than 6 weeks!

tedgran · 07/12/2022 18:12

DH .went out for a boys lunch some weeks ago, came home with horrible cold which I then caught. Once I was a bit better it morphed into a terrible cough. I took co-codomol at night, which suppresed it.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 07/12/2022 18:14

My mum had it for 7 weeks. It really exhausted her

LBFseBrom · 07/12/2022 18:17

Not me but my neighbour has. She says is coughing her heart up. I feel for her, she is a very active, sociable woman but this year she caught covid and that was bad for a while.

Allthefoodandwine · 07/12/2022 18:18

Feel for you!

I've had it for just over a week, not great, as I had a Hysterectomy last week!
Coughing at the moment is not fun...

I also kindly gave it to DH

Broncho stop pastilles have been a life saver!

theskyisbluernow · 07/12/2022 18:21

Me too. Horrendous. I've found best thing is to sit on the loo whilst having a coughing fit where at all possible. The shame😰😬

Boooooot · 07/12/2022 18:25

I have it I’m on day 2. Very saddened to hear it could last weeks :(

Yddraigoldragon · 07/12/2022 18:31

Try Potters mucus cough pastilles, they are good.

Rinoachicken · 07/12/2022 18:34

Me too - mortifying pissing myself when coughing - quite relieved and it’s not just me!

MollyScamp · 07/12/2022 18:36

I had this cough for weeks. Had antibiotics, steroids, inhaler. I know they probably take a lot of the credit but the game changer for me I felt was chest physiotherapy. He taught me how to breathe and how to bring up what was in my lungs without coughing. He gave me sheets to follow at home.
ACBT (active cycle of breathing techniques).
he said the goal is to stop coughing at all costs, focussing on breathing in and out through my nose and not my mouth is key.

I only saw him once and he talked, there was no active hands on physio just explaining and practicing the techniques.

Goodoldvera · 07/12/2022 18:44

Think I had covid before it was 'known' Christmas 2019...I now suspect I have a hiatus hernia through coughing then..now every morning I have a choking retching cough because of stomach acid in my throat

Same here, feeling dreadful - have been for over four weeks now. Sick of it.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 07/12/2022 18:51

Yes, I really struggled through this for the last couple of weeks. Mainly at the top of my chest.
Definitely Tena territory. I got really weepy about it at work last week, as I’d never had a pelvic floor issue until this blinking cough. Still having to stop and cross my legs if a cough comes on.

gggrrrargh · 07/12/2022 18:54

I have no idea why I clicked on this thread seeing as I don’t have a cough…

..but you poor things it sounds horrible, sending
you get well thoughts that it will get better soon! 💐
