I feel terrible, I’m coughing so hard that I’m weeing, I feel like my head is going to explode and it’s making me retch! Is there anything that works to calm it down?! I’m at my wits end

Me too . Covid at start of October . Coughing ever since . A good dose of vick rub at night on the chest and neck helps a bit . Also a spoon of honey and cinnamon, let it warm up in your mouth and slowly coat the throat . Problem is only so much of vick and honey one can stomach .

i am embarrassed I cough so much

feetlikeahobbit · 07/12/2022 18:55

Yes on week 8. It's much better than it was though, not needed the tena this week which is a bonus!

susiesuelou · 07/12/2022 19:02

Yep, 3 weeks now and counting. I'm so fed up of it 😔

DH and adult DS have both had really bad coughs in the last 3 weeks. DH phoned GP who wanted him to go to our community hospital, but he said could he just have antibiotics which she agreed to and is now better. DS has been better over the weekends, but when he goes back to work, he just coughs all day. They’ve both had sore throats too. Both myself and other adult DS didn’t catch it from them.

Bubbles1st · 07/12/2022 19:17

Yes I've had it for 3/4 weeks, I was very rough at one point but the cough remains after antibiotics and a couple of extra weeks. We are supposed to go away next week on holiday so I went back to the drs today to see the nurse who said can I try and hold out and see how I feel I a week but in the mean time swabbed my terribly sore throat to see what going on.

My 15 month old is the same and now covered in a rash, they've given him penicillin and of course I'm hoping he is fine and my swap comes back free of anything too unpleasant as I'm sure will have the same going on.

Small win for me though as no wet knickers!

cortisolqueen · 07/12/2022 19:23

Me too. I'm strangely comforted to know I'm not alone but can't wait for us all to shift it...

PeaceJoySleep · 07/12/2022 19:30

Me too, have been taking the brown inhaler two puffs morning and evening and still the cough goes on and on and on.
Ten days ago I woke myself up coughing, ended up getting sick, felt like I couldnt breath and I had a terrible bloodshot eye. I went to the gp thinking she might tell me to rest! But she sent me for a chest xray yesterday. I bet there is nothing to see. Just months of coughing 🤔🙄😭

SophieJo · 07/12/2022 19:33

I had it for 2 weeks and ended up emailing Drs. Got a phone call back and a course of antibiotics sorted me out. At night there were times when I felt I couldn’t catch my breath because I was coughing so much. I ached all over. Just about over it now after over 3 weeks.

2bazookas · 07/12/2022 19:53

Yes, for a week. No fever sore throat or runny nose, just a steadily worsening chesty cough; today I can sometimes hear my lungs croaking as I breathe. I don't have asthma.

This week's ONS covid screening result was negative .

LoopDiL00p · 07/12/2022 19:59

I've got the same here, it's been about 3 months and I've had 3 courses of antibiotics. Tested negative for covid throughout.

I'm in Tena Lady territory too, and maybe this is too much info but the coughing is so violent that it's definitely done some damage down there as I've been spotting for the last few weeks. I gave birth 6 months ago with tearing, so everything still feels a little fragile. All apparently normal according to doctor and been told to just keep on at it with the home remedies 😩

Serena1977 · 07/12/2022 20:03

I feel shocking and battled on but couldn't go to work today.

Temp of 39, taking paracetamol, sore throat, going through rolls and rolls of toilet roll blowing my nose. Exhausted. Not covid. Feel it's gone to my chest so tried GP no appointments, not even emergency, emergency appointments apparently. Tried 111, couldn't help me, said GP has a duty of care to me so ring them back, did that, said no appointments, suggested I try A and E so I did, clearly everybody had been told the same, as patients queueing out of the door.

And yes to weeing everytime I cough.

Ragingoverlife · 07/12/2022 20:05

I'm Really hoping mine goes before my elective c section in a few weeks x

Peachesandcream15 · 07/12/2022 20:05

Yep. It's been 5 weeks and the cough has just about stopped now. It's been unreal. It seems to be everywhere, the kids at school have really suffered with it.

theskyisbluernow · 07/12/2022 18:21

Me too. Horrendous. I've found best thing is to sit on the loo whilst having a coughing fit where at all possible. The shame😰😬

Ha! Me too!

Rowthe · 07/12/2022 20:08

This thread is depressing.

I'm on day 2, I dont believe it will last that long...

Was awake most of last night because of the cough only got to sleep around 2.30am but then had to wake up at 6.30 to get kids ready for school.

I think it'll improve over the weekend.

I dont usually have coughs for too long.

Liana89 · 07/12/2022 20:08

That is so strange to end up on this thread! Been coughing for a month and feel really down about it, I went to the doctors yesterday who gave me amoxicillin, ordered a chest scan, and gave me two inhalers. It seems to slowly get better but alone with a toddler at home, it's a killer! And that's at the back of all the nursery illnesses brought back home over the past few months. Big uuuurgh and hug to everyone suffering!!

Triffid1 · 07/12/2022 20:13

Have coughed so hard I have vomited. I actually feel like my ribs and chest are bruised. I did not sleep last night due to cougging and have been ill all day. Hope its not weeks.

Middersweekly · 07/12/2022 20:14

You have my sympathy OP and other fellow posters in the same cough/piss boat. I’ve got Covid at the moment and coughing a lot and pissing myself! It’s been going on since last week! To add insult to injury I’m also on my period! 🙈 I’m wearing those extra long night sanitary towels!

Gh12345 · 07/12/2022 20:15

Mine has finally gone after 2 weeks. I kept getting headaches because I was coughing so hard

Rowthe · 07/12/2022 20:17

The worst part is, both kids have been I'll last week so not been getting much sleep anyway cos they've been coughing all night and randomly being sick due to coughing.

They are finally a bit better, was looking forward to getting some sleep and now I've started with the cough which kept me awake most of the night.

I think maybe I caught this because I was so run down because of the kids.

Rachaelrachael · 07/12/2022 20:18

Try cocodamol, codeine is a cough suppressant and the only thing that works for me

dementedma · 07/12/2022 20:18

Had it for over two months! Absolutely sick of it. Constant catarrh too. Anti biotics did nothing.
Steaming over hot water,throat sweets,cough medicine....no avail

I can hear my lungs croaking too! First few times I was like wtf is that noise!?! Never had that before. My head aches from coughing so much.
