So last year … after Naughty Boy got kicked out there was controversy at the all white camp! Charlene, Scarlett out and Baba in the bottom two too!! Racism!

It’s not unconscious bias at all.

I cringed massively and expected an outcry when the first two out were both black. I've thought about this a lot.

Both celebrities would have been in my bottom two and before Charlene went out I predicted that it would either be her or Scarlett first. I based this purely on my own thoughts about them being comparatively boring. Charlene was annoying about the rv sleeping arrangements and not really honest about her motivations. And Scarlett was a bit back stabby/ two faced about the cooking - gossiping behind Charlene's back but not really having the conviction to take her to task to her face. People don't like that and will no doubt prefer the BG approach - if you have a problem with someone, get it out in the open and be honest about it.

I've also thought about whether there may have been some unconscious bias in the editing and whether that might have played a role in how we feel about those two women.

And finally, they're both women of course, who have been shown to be quite strong/ assertive. Maybe people just don't like strong, assertive ("bossy" as some would say) women... so maybe this is in fact sexist.

@ReallyITV you can have a sensible conversation without being online all day. You started this thread in AIBU but clearly don't intend on having any discussion so don't believe you could possibly be unreasonable.

I personally didn't vote for Scarlett because I don't know who she is and don't think she's been an interesting or noteworthy character in the camp.

I don't like Baba, he's scared of heights, he's scared of water but he never seems contrite when he mucks up. I thought Scarlette was a good camp mate and didn't deserve to go yet, does that make me racist?

Sue is a pain as well but at least I know who she is. Don’t watch a place in the sun, don’t watch loose women and she should have just slept in the rv and my mother informs me baba is a comedian on gogglebox? Don’t watch that either.

Exactly. I bet if Lenny Henry was in he wouldn't be first out but people have to know who contestants are. I doubt A Place In The Sun or Loose Women have very large fan bases.

I don’t know why people are struggling to accept its unconscious bias. I mean do they genuinely feel that racism has been eradicated?! Come into my world and you’ll see racism and unconscious bias acted out on a daily basis.

Why are you being goady? Plenty of people have stated their reasons for not voting for Scarlett.

Some people might not VOTE TO SAVE because they are racist but it’s more that people are voting to save those they actually knew of before the show and those causing drama like butt head George.

I don't think these threads do anything to promote racial harmony. All it does it create unrest as people who've been bumbling along enjoying the show and mildly gossiping about things that have happened that they've found amusing or mildly irritating and all of a sudden find themselves accused of racism, either overt or unconscious.

I don’t see the problem. I’m happy for it to be discussed, why wouldn’t I be? I didn’t like Charlene but did like Scarlett.

If people are talking about racism, I’m not uncomfortable because I know it doesn’t apply to me. There is racism in the UK unfortunately and it should be discussed.

I was surprised Scarlette went thought she was lovely, but I wouldn’t have voted for her to stay.

I think if you voted. For the person you wanted to leave this would have gone v differently
