So last year … after Naughty Boy got kicked out there was controversy at the all white camp! Charlene, Scarlett out and Baba in the bottom two too!! Racism!

Apparently not. Someone on the other thread said Ant and Dec confirmed Sue was in the bottom 2 last time on Instagram live, after the show.

That was the night before, where it was Charlene and Sue in the bottom.

Willyoujustbequiet · 20/11/2022 23:56

Its not racism. Charlene was a pain in the arse and Scarlette was boring.

We are allowed to get rid of people regardless of skin colour.

MyBeloved · 21/11/2022 00:11

I actually said to DH tonight and said I thought it could be racism. I didn't like Charlene, but was very surprised that Scarlette was voted out, and that Babatunde was in the bottom 2. I cannot understand why Chris is still there, personally - he is vile and 7adds absolutely nothing to the camp; nor does Sue! Mike is extremely one dimensional.

I'm with you, OP!

I know. 🙄 I said ‘last time’.

Someone said the other person is picked at random so Baba wasn’t necessarily in the bottom 2. But that doesn’t seem to be the case as Ant and Dec confirmed Sue was indeed in the bottom 2 last time with Charlene. So it looks like Baba did get the second lowest votes after Scarlett tonight.

really - the black contestants just happen to be the bullies and boring ones?

And you can't get much more of a bully than someone who shackled someone to a wall, beat them with a chain, verbally abused them and kept them prisoner - yet BG is still in?

Redkettle · 21/11/2022 00:57

Love baba. I thought he'd be in for winning

It’s not just them tho there is others but they can’t all get voted out together. Maybe if they were more popular and known outside they’d stay in.

WildFlowerBees · 21/11/2022 01:26

I'm not entirely convinced the voting is completely by the public. Charlene was rubbish, way above herself but I hoped BG would be out next he's such a toxic personality. As soon as I saw the results I knew someone would be saying it's down to racism. I really hope not that would be awful.

SunshineAndFizz · 21/11/2022 04:58

@Freddieonahill well yeah, I had no idea who she was before the show and she's told us nothing about herself/no interesting stories. Very pleasant but forgettable. I knew who the other two were.

StarryKnight · 21/11/2022 06:07

I’m sorry but I don’t agree at all.

if the public were voting for who they wanted to leave, then yes you might have a point that the black contestants are voted off first. But they’re not - it’s a popularity contest and there are some big well known personalities in there than Charlene and Scarlette.

if it were just because they’re black, then the racist voter would have to be voting for all of the white contestants simultaneously, rather than just not voting for the black ones.

x2boys · 21/11/2022 06:48

Strangestthings · 20/11/2022 22:39

I thought this too. Who on earth is voting for Matt Hancock?!

Quite a lot of people ,in spite of how news articles try to spin things rhe comments underneath the articles suggest quite a few people are rooting for him.

AutumnFox · 21/11/2022 06:50

It’s entertainment, people want to be entertained and watching a load of pleasant but boring people isn’t entertaining. BG might have a dodgy past and be a bit of a tit but he makes for interesting TV - out of all of them, he’s the one most likely to start arguments etc and rightly or wrongly that’s what people want to see.

My prediction is Sue will be next. If it is B then you might have a point.

People are voting to keep Boy George and Matt Hancock in because it's the only entertainment. The camp are getting on too well again this year.

BlueRidge · 21/11/2022 07:19

I liked Scarlette and I REALLY like Babatunde but I didn't vote for either of them because there's someone else I like more so voted for them.
Does that make me racist?

ReallyITV · 21/11/2022 07:25

If there isn’t direct racism at play as a number of you are suggesting, that doesn’t stop the unconscious bias. In this thread we are grouping into the ‘bullie’ and the ‘boring’ ones. Humans group people - the ‘in’ group and the ‘out’ group. I interestingly read an article at the height of the BLM movement about exactly this. I’ll try track it down and post it.

I agree that IF race is a factor, then it’s an unconscious thing as in people naturally gravitate to people who they identify with and that would include skin colour. But I really don’t think there’s a large number of people who actually think ‘I’m not voting for her, she’s black’

Wakemeuuuup · 21/11/2022 08:29

I was very surprised that Scarlette was voted off yesterday and did raise an eyebrow that 2 black women were 1st out. However I was happy to see the back of Charlene but I would have been just as happy to see Sue go.

I can't stand BG or MH but they'll be kept for entertainment value.

Babatunde has to go before the celebrity cyclone task as he is exempt so that's not good

Oh why's he exempt from that? I'd assumed he was claustrophobic with the tasks he's been exempt from but is it a water thing?

GoonerGirl5231 · 21/11/2022 08:34

Of course it's race related. The UK is inherently racist, whatever people try to argue otherwise. If viewers were voting for who they wanted to get rid of, both Charlene and Scarlette would still be in the jungle, because the votes for Matt and Seann would undoubtedly be higher. But expecting predominately white viewers to pick up their phones and vote in their masses for black contestants is wishful thinking and the fact that the producers flipped the vote to speaks volumes.

To add, it's what a PP has said – it's not blatant racism that S and C weren't voted for, it's unconscious bias.

Still racism though.

JaneJeffer · 21/11/2022 08:38

It's always been vote to save.

SlashBeef · 21/11/2022 08:40

So then do we just save people to keep the quota of non-white contestants up? That seems just as problematic.
