I've googled and Googled

I'm a celebrity- what happens to the rats , frogs , snakes , lizards, water dragons , alligators etc AFTER the trials ?

Where do they go and what happens to them ?

There is a distinct lack of information on what happens to these animals after the trials .

I had heard they are culled as they cannot be released into the eco system.

There is absolutely no information available.

These are sentient creatures- I love rats , they are intelligent, affectionate, trainable, loving animals - yet I cannot find any info on what happens after these trials .

Why is that ?

Probably because what u suspect is true and who wants to hear about that

Poppyseed14 · 17/11/2022 22:17

I heard they all get fed to the bison 🦬

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 22:17

I suspect if that's what happens then more people would switch off .

How do I find out ? I did once complain to ofcom and got some shitty stock answer.

If they are culled - people have a right to know and choose whether to watch .

Could you make a Freedom of Information request?

Sorry but these are sentient animals - it's not funny . If people killed their pet rats , snakes etc they'd be liable to prosecution under the animal welfare act abd I suspect rspca would get involved .

I find it uncomfortable to think these animals are simply killed for entertainment. If they aren't - why is there absolutely no information?

Plenty of animal welfare groups such as rspca and peta condemn the use of these animals for this purpose.
I've not watched it for years because it just does t sit right with me yet there is no information online at all.

The show is absolute trash. Offer your thoughts regarding the animals here:

Me . I want to know . So I can decide if I line ITVS pockets or not .

Or the leaf / panther/ stoats/ wild boar / haggis

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 22:23

Do you not think this would colour peoples view in the show if it were found that the animals used are culled ?

OP posts:
Coconutcream123 · 17/11/2022 22:23

One of the reasons I don't watch it is because of this. It should be public knowledge.
Just more trash TV that needs to go IMO.

Topgub · 17/11/2022 22:24

You know its not a vegan show? Right?

The animals they kill to eat were sentinent too

Rarrrarrrarrbumdiay · 17/11/2022 22:24

Not really, ignorance is bliss. Plus look loads of awful shit goes on everyday and ..... well....meh.

People just want to watch the telly not get wound up about animals on TV shows. Got enough to worry about.

Theradioisoncoco · 17/11/2022 22:27

Why would they cull them?

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 22:28

They openly say the insects go to zoos etc for animal feed yet there is zero information on what happens to the animals .

Do people genuinely not care as long as it's a laugh for half an hour ?
The fact there is absolutely no information and the show is condemned by rspca and other animal welfare groups says something surely ?

They aren't being used for food . They're being killed for entertainment. On that I am not a fan , same as badger baiting and fox hunting . Killing for fun isn't my bag . Killing to eat - each to their own .

Theradioisoncoco · 17/11/2022 22:27

Why would they cull them?

Because they cannot be released into the eco system. They clearly are not wild animals . They're bred for the show and are tame . The fact there is zero info on what happens to them after the trials is questionable.

I'm surprised youre surprised that people don't care.

People are utterly selfish OP. Crazy this is news to you.

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 22:30

I know I sound like a tree hugging lentil weaver but I want to know what happens to them and I cannot be the only one

Topgub · 17/11/2022 22:32

I presumed they were 'show' animals

Like those petting zoo types.

But, no. I dont care if they are killed after

FeelWellEnoughToTellYou · 17/11/2022 22:32

I'm sure I read that the majority of them are caught and taken back with the people who brought them. And used again in the following trials? The rats were pretty much pets I think.

FictionalCharacter · 17/11/2022 22:32

I've never watched that horrible show and that's just one of the reasons. Treating animals like disposable commodities is something I don't want to be part of.

Hmmm

I got my arse handed to me and called a cunt last time I made a post like this but fuck it.

Unless you’re a vegan (which I am not) I don’t think you can really be horrified about animals dying whilst also tucking into a bacon sandwich later. I don’t know why people see entertainment as so much worse than gluttony. We don’t need to eat animals. . Not to mention the brutal cruelty of dairy farming - at least wild animals getting shot have a chance to be where they are supposed to be and not crammed in a farm, having their babies removed from them and milked until they die.

And I’m sure that the animals aren’t more forgiving knowing they die to be eaten.

I highly doubt it goes like this:
Human: “I’m gonna kill you for fun”
Animal: “WHAT! OUTRAGEOUS! That is not acceptable”

Human: “I’m killing you to eat your flesh later”
Animal: “Meh. Understandable”.

DDivaStar · 17/11/2022 22:34

I never imagined these were 'wild' animals. I always assumed they were bred for the entertainment industry and will continue to be used for such after celebrity. Obviously the insects may be used as feed but that's hardly unusual.

No, sadly, many people genuinely do not care 😞

Why would they cull them and pay for a different set of animals for a trial the next day ?
