I've googled and Googled

I'm a celebrity- what happens to the rats , frogs , snakes , lizards, water dragons , alligators etc AFTER the trials ?

Where do they go and what happens to them ?

There is a distinct lack of information on what happens to these animals after the trials .

I had heard they are culled as they cannot be released into the eco system.

There is absolutely no information available.

These are sentient creatures- I love rats , they are intelligent, affectionate, trainable, loving animals - yet I cannot find any info on what happens after these trials .

Why is that ?

Because they cannot be released into the eco system. They clearly are not wild animals . They're bred for the show and are tame . The fact there is zero info on what happens to them after the trials is questionable.

I would want to know what happens to them too. Maybe they send them to zoos or rescue centres?

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 17/11/2022 22:40

They definitely re-use the animals (not the insects). I’m not sure why they’d cull them - presumably they’re hired from someone who keeps tame exotic animals.

You know they tape the crocodiles mouths shut? Its why you never ever see them open their mouths and they basically pose no risk at all to the humans screaming at them

Georgeskitchen · 17/11/2022 22:41

I can't imagine why anyone watches this drivel. They must be short of a few brain cells

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 22:41

I am veggie but not vegan .

It gives me a headache because I'd like to be but practically it feels difficult.

I do use milk substitute. I prefer it and after watching that panarama I couldn't look at milk again .

So I'm not a massive hypocrite. I'd just like some clarity on what h happens to the vertebrates.

The invertebrates such as crabs , insects don't have the same protection under animal welfare rules so I'm wondering what happens to the rats , the alligators, as well as the water dragons , snakes , frogs , etc .

Ugh cannot stand TV show snobs.

Life is hard, people want escapism and easy watching and yea, sometimes arsehole MPs to have spiders crawl up their shorts.

Would love to know what kind of TV you watch?

Rarrrarrrarrbumdiay · 17/11/2022 22:43

Honestly op, even if you found out what happened .... in what way would it change anything?

The show will continue. I can't see the point in your wondering or worrying

Because it would make a difference as to whether I watched or not . And I'm sure I aren't the only person to wonder this and yet Google gives not one answer.

You could try asking the RSPCA where the show is filmed OP.

I recall they got involved and charged gobshite Gino DCampo with animal cruelty when he killed one of the tame rats running around a few years ago.

SpookySally · 17/11/2022 22:49

Trashy TV for trashy people, both the contestants and the watchers. I agree OP, it’s horrible.

Rarrrarrrarrbumdiay · 17/11/2022 22:50

so you wouldn't watch, but the outcome would remain unchanged for the animals.
OK.

Sheilascarface · 17/11/2022 22:54

I agree with you op. And yes it is trash.

Pompomsfantastix · 17/11/2022 22:55

Many people choose not to watch this due to the animal cruelty involved. It’s not rocket science.

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 22:59

I haven't watched it for years and years but I can't avoid the adverts- and it always makes me wonder all over again ....

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 17/11/2022 23:01

Surely the larger animals are owned by someone who hires them out for things like this/tv/films etc?

I very much DO care what happens to them and I hate it when the poor bugs are crushed under people's feet 😢

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 23:02

I just some honesty. There is absolutely nothing out there on what happens after these trials .

I recall years ago when they did some kind of "coffin" underground thing and filled it with rats , then raised the "coffin" and the rats obviously ran off into the jungle - it was then I heard they are gassed because there are strict rules about what can enter an established eco system . Never watched it since .

I heard they all get fed to the bison 🦬

Noooooooooo 😂

JetBlackSteed · 17/11/2022 23:06

at least they don't eat live things anymore, that was horrible

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 23:10

Take the piss all you like but I do wonder if these trials were with fluffy little hamsters, rabbits , chinchillas, gerbils, cats , dogs .....would there be questions asked ?

Hmmm

I got my arse handed to me and called a cunt last time I made a post like this but fuck it.

Unless you’re a vegan (which I am not) I don’t think you can really be horrified about animals dying whilst also tucking into a bacon sandwich later. I don’t know why people see entertainment as so much worse than gluttony. We don’t need to eat animals. . Not to mention the brutal cruelty of dairy farming - at least wild animals getting shot have a chance to be where they are supposed to be and not crammed in a farm, having their babies removed from them and milked until they die.

And I’m sure that the animals aren’t more forgiving knowing they die to be eaten.

I highly doubt it goes like this:
Human: “I’m gonna kill you for fun”
Animal: “WHAT! OUTRAGEOUS! That is not acceptable”

Human: “I’m killing you to eat your flesh later”
Animal: “Meh. Understandable”.

Great Post. Shame you are not vegan though, we could do with more like you on our side!

Blinky21 · 17/11/2022 23:11

It's why I stopped watching, animals shouldn't be used for trashy entertainment. Even if they aren't killed, it must be stressful for them

Curtainsorblinds · 17/11/2022 23:11

The rats and snakes etc surely must be pets/ show animals and used again and again?

I won’t watch it because of the awful way they treat animals and the utter disregard for animal or insect life.

I am vegan and had pet rats for many years so I’m really hoping the rats aren’t just killed after?!

Curtainsorblinds · 17/11/2022 23:12

I agree! You’d make a great addition!

stillvicarinatutu · 17/11/2022 23:16

So my point isn't valid because I'm vegetarian but not vegan ?

QuiteSomeTime · 17/11/2022 23:22

you wouldn’t be ‘lining ITV’s pockets’ if you watched it, nor will you be even vaguely hurting them if you refuse to watch ITV again

IMissVino · 17/11/2022 23:24

If you care so much, why haven’t you actually done anything re finding out, though? Freedom of Information request, write to the RSPCA, write to DEFRA…why have you just ‘Googled and Googled’?
