I'm beautiful and it's terrible

It's not really is it?

I've seen a few women commenting that being beautiful is to be harassed and abused so it's rubbish to be beautiful.

That's not my experience.

I have never been harassed.

I've never been bothered at all.

I don't get followed. Touched.

I'm not saying that men are delightful. They're not. But they don't bother me.

And never have.

I am beautiful though.

If a woman knows herself to be beautiful, she’s then a ‘cocky, arrogant twerp’
Is that right?

ThatshallotBaby · 12/11/2022 09:26

If she is, then she is. She can’t help it.

Absolutely @queenofthebongo

I was scouted multiple times when I was a young woman. I did a bit of editorial modeling. It was a very seedy industry. I did not pursue it.

Erm. Obviously beauty is subjective.

I've never been pretty. I'm tall and spiky

And I have never been sexuality bothered or harassed.

Interesting. But usually, the tall spiky models in magazines that have an unusual look, I find either quite ugly or quite intimidating so I expect most men are not willing to harass someone as tall as them! Like a pp said, harassed women are usually much more vulnerable or vulnerable looking.
I’m not saying you are ugly of course, but like he old adage….beauty is in the eye of the beholder… which is why I find your comments strange.

ThatshallotBaby · 12/11/2022 09:26

Or is it just this woman? The op? Because she posted that she was beautiful without a picture?

Dalekjastninerels · 12/11/2022 09:27

Notaboutthebass · 12/11/2022 09:24

Either made up or OP is a cocky arrogant twerp!

OP is a troll for certain, she has posted and done a runner.

OP

EXPLAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Venetiaparties · 12/11/2022 09:28

I would rather be a ball breaker than beautiful - advise my dds to aspire to the higher ranks of ball breakers. In my experience that is where true happiness lies.

Dalekjastninerels · 12/11/2022 09:28

ThatshallotBaby · 12/11/2022 09:24

@Dalekjastninerels
It is obvious. To whom?

To everyone obviously!!

Venetiaparties · 12/11/2022 09:31

I do think as a woman or a man you CAN say I am beautiful without worrying about other people taking you down. Beautiful people don't intimidate me and they can enjoy their inner/outer beauty if they wish, indeed as they should. We should enjoy whatever we are. I am totally cool with it. I hope op comes back.

ThatshallotBaby · 12/11/2022 09:31

It’s not obvious @Dalekjastninerels
You and some other posters think that. Why?

Venetiaparties · 12/11/2022 09:32

I am keen to know how she avoided any kind of harassment! Maybe she is a beautiful nun somewhere obscure and isolated.

Amen to that, sister.

schoolsoutforever · 12/11/2022 09:35

My understanding reading the OP’s first then second post was that she was making the point that being harassed by men was nothing to do with being good looking so I kind of thought she was making the same point as most other posters here (and my experience of being hassled quite a lot when young, and average looking, would agree). The first post wasn’t at all clear but she seemed to be pointing out that beauty brings privilege which also others have pointed out and seems fairly likely. Male harassment of women is to do with misogyny, not women being attractive and I thought that was her point. I think lots of posters have got angry with the OP for daring to admit she is considered beautiful and I’m not really sure that was the main point. What she said (taking both posts together)seemed to make sense to me.

I have no idea what OP looks like.

I do know she is a show off which makes her ugly to me no matter what her actual appearance is.

OP

You have no alibi...

Showing off?

I think there is a haughty kind of beauty that scares some predatory shits away. But I'm surprised you haven't had the usual amount of hassle women get.

Never had your bum or breasts grabbed by a random?
Never been flashed at or had a man wank openly on a late night tube train?
Never been kerb crawled?
Or followed home?
Or told by a complete stranger what he could and would like to do to you?
Never had a hard-on accidentlly shoved against your back on a crowded tube train?

You don't have to be beautiful for these to happen, just female.

Men don’t often go for modelesque “tall and spiky” looks to sexualise though (generalising here). Whilst I’m sure they appreciate that kind of beauty, It’s more classically “sexual” looking people (like myself) that get comments suggesting you’re asking for it because of your body, style, or features. Having huge boobs, small waist, big bum, exotic features etc. all these things get lecherous comments that are 9/10 unwarranted but men seem to think you’re “showing it off” by merely wearing clothes or makeup.

Maybe that’s why you’ve not experienced it to the level some women have. And no, you absolutely don’t need to be “beautiful” to be harassed. But there’s definitely a theme.

Since when are pp's expected to prove their post is true with a personal photo?
Parking/property thread's aside.

Why is it so hard to believe that a person can admit they're attractive.

I see beautiful attractive women all the time, of course a percentage will post on a predominantly female forum.

AltheaVestr1t · 12/11/2022 09:43

I’m loving the way everyone is piling on to the OP and simultaneously saying looks don’t matter.

If someone is very beautiful, it’s an objective fact, especially if it’s in a very classic way. Insisting that the person should notice or talk about how society responds to it is ridiculous.

Beauty is absolutely not objective. Standards of what is considered 'beautiful' are different in different cultures and change with the times according to fashion. It's 100% subjective.

Watch Muriel’s wedding. The ending scene is quite hilarious.

@Dalekjastninerels Why has a woman admitting they're beautiful upset you so much?
Demanding proof, calling troll?
Why are you bothered?
