I'm beautiful and it's terrible

It's not really is it?

I've seen a few women commenting that being beautiful is to be harassed and abused so it's rubbish to be beautiful.

That's not my experience.

I have never been harassed.

I've never been bothered at all.

I don't get followed. Touched.

I'm not saying that men are delightful. They're not. But they don't bother me.

And never have.

I am beautiful though.

Borgonzola · 12/11/2022 05:08

Ooo I'm stunning, me

HmmGrin

KissTheHostGoodbye · 12/11/2022 05:08

How nice for you

MadelineUsher · 12/11/2022 05:12

Tall and spiky? That is attractive. Not beautiful.

Your attitude is ugly, though.

Whyisegg · 12/11/2022 05:22

You definitely deserve a medal. Thank you for your service to this country

Butchyrestingface · 12/11/2022 05:30

If your only point is 'you don't have to be beautiful to be sexually harassed,' you've done a terrible job at wording it.

"I am tall and spikey beautiful but also tres inarticulate and confusing to the point of goady AF."

To paraphrase the late, great Meatloaf, 🎵 none outta three ain't bad. 🎵

I am pretty sure this is an Alan Partridge monologue from one of his radio shows, try re reading it in a Partridge accent and it makes more sense

Kittylickingplate · 12/11/2022 05:35

Wow, just wow. I am not English so maybe I am missing something but what a peculiar post.

SpentDandelion · 12/11/2022 05:40

Men won' t be your biggest threat maybe, but by judging comments on here, other women will. Some women find it hard celebrating another woman's beauty.

Whyisegg · 12/11/2022 05:44

I don't think that's the issue here - however, it is disappointing to see how women gravitate to this post.

Why should we celebrate beauty? Unless you mean beautiful on the inside?

Good looks is something you’re born with, it’s not an achievement. Nice to look at but that’s all and it’s usually temporary anyway isn’t it?

Hard work or just being a good person is what I’d be celebrating and that’s what I tell my kids.

MrsDoyle351 · 12/11/2022 05:50

Not overly keen on James Blunt though Halloween Grin

Yeah. Sleep with one eye open, OP. The Fugly Munters © have you in the crosshairs.

Dolphinnoises · 12/11/2022 06:16

I’m loving the way everyone is piling on to the OP and simultaneously saying looks don’t matter.

If someone is very beautiful, it’s an objective fact, especially if it’s in a very classic way. Insisting that the person should notice or talk about how society responds to it is ridiculous.

AlwaysCleanYourHatBeforeGivingItToADentist · 12/11/2022 06:19

I'm pretty average looking but 99% of the time I go out, I get bothered. My friend reckons it's a compliment. 🙄🤐

AlwaysCleanYourHatBeforeGivingItToADentist · 12/11/2022 06:23

By "go out" I mean a night out. Day to day, I occassionally get cat called out of car windows but that's because I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time rather than it being aimed at me iyswim.

Op, I'm glad you don't get unwanted attention but it doesn't mean other people don't.

I don't find it hard to celebrate another woman's beauty. I adore beauty in all its forms, art, literature, design, architecture, music, poetry, men, women, nature especially. But her self-descriptor is not of a woman who is beautiful. Tall and striking, does not equal beautiful. Doing a bit of modelling once, does not equal beautiful. And her sentiments on this thread are ugly, so...

Mannymoomin · 12/11/2022 04:10

IME men tend to prey on vulnerable young women and girls.
You would be better off recognising that predators don’t see you as vulnerable, your shallow idea of looks don’t come into play in this scenario.

This.

I'm not sure that society views beauty and harassment as being connected.

If anything, beauty can be revered as some kind of achievement. Being young and insecure is far more likely to result in harassment in my experience.

As I understand it beauty is more likely to result in being successful in careers and friendships as people like to be around it.

No, you are not missing something and your observation is spot on, it is a weird post.

She was back the other week, feeling more beautiful than ever

Lovelycupofcoffee · 12/11/2022 06:44

Oh god now I gave that James blunt song going round and round in my head 😂😂

Dalekjastninerels · 12/11/2022 06:44

OP

Post a photo of your so called (by yourself) beauty.

You obviously have tickets on yourself which is very unattractive.
