To think this was weird?

Had to take DS to an appointment today and we had to catch the bus. At the bus stop, a woman was there with her toddler and once we got on the bus asked where we were going, I told her the hospital and she said she also was. She then started telling me all about her child's disabilities etc, and then she asked about DS’s I told her I didn't feel comfortable telling her, she then asked if I wanted to meet up for a coffee after their appointments, I politely declined and told her we had plans.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before, I never had and it was rather odd but maybe that's just my opinion, AIBU?

No I wouldn’t go for a coffee with someone I met on the bus and never have nor have I been asked let’s not
pretend it’s a normal situation to happen!

In the days before internet dating that's how you met men!

Totally normal situation and I think it says a lot about someone if they consider this weird.

I think it’s odd that you need it explained to you. She’s lonely and was reaching out, human to human, for contact. Shared experience is often a good foundation for friendships.

You sound like a cold person. That said, she's an oversharer and that's usually a red flag. I do feel sorry for her though, as she's probably lonely Sad

Did the men you met on the bus jump immediately into telling you all about their woes and ask you to share private medical details?

🙄

You're just like my 7 year old, they eyeroll and huff off when I make a point they can't answer!

I was saying 7 year old aren't that bright, so throwing it back at me isn't the gotcha you seem think it is!

I wonder other more emojis I'll get instead of actual responses to my points that this woman on the bus was clearly oversharing and it's not OPs responsilibty to befriend her just because "she's probably lonely"

I guess she saw two women in the same boat and reached out. It’s a sad thing you found her weird.
