….. you found out you were pregnant and your youngest was 14 years old?
I Had a pregnancy scare recently, I’m peri-menopausal, so period did arrive but very late.
It got me thinking, what would I do and I still don’t know!
So just putting it out there….what would you do?

100% I would abort, no question. I have absolutely no interest whatsoever on having a baby or small child. Physically I am absoltely sure I would be fine with a baby, mentally I think if would finish me off

MojoJojo71 · 12/01/2023 21:47

I’m 51 with a 10 year old and knackered most of the time so if I ever mustered up the energy to find myself pregnant again I would not continue with the pregnancy. I don’t think my body or my sanity could take it!

Fairislefandango · 12/01/2023 21:53

I would terminate without question. I'm still on medication for the high blood pressure (dangerously high at the time) that my last pregnancy kicked off 14 years ago. I'm 51 and barely perimenopausal. I occasionally have a nightmare that I'm pregnant and wake up horrified!

I honestly dont think anyone can answer properly until it has happened them.

I can say with absolute certainty I would terminate without a second thought. There is no way on this planet I could even begin to entertain the prospect of another child

Honeyroar · 12/01/2023 22:01

I’d terminate- and I couldn’t have children, despite wanting them. I’m early 50s now, I’m already struggling with peri/menopause and death/illness of parents. The thought of a baby/toddler added to the mix is scary.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 12/01/2023 22:02

I would have the baby 👶

Pearsandclocks · 12/01/2023 22:02

I would have had a termination.

TangledWebOfDeception · 12/01/2023 22:07

Freak the fuck out, quite honestly. I’m done with that stage in my life and very much enjoying being the mother of grown adults. I love my children dearly but love my life now too.

I would not be continuing with the pregnancy.

(Of course I know you can never actually know until you’re in the situation....but no. Absolutely not doing that.)

Grapewrath · 12/01/2023 22:08

Im 42 and youngest is 15 and eldest 20. I’d terminate now, let alone at 49.
I can’t imagine picking up Alevels at 60 and with my other kids heading towards middle age. Fuck that.

B1993 · 12/01/2023 22:09

I'm pregnant with #2 at 29, which means at 49 this baby would be 20! 😵‍💫 I don't think I'd be able to do it all again at that age but, since I'm not in that position, it's hard to say for certain.

Bayleaf25 · 12/01/2023 22:10

I’m 50 and I’m really sad to say I’d have a termination (I wouldn’t when I was younger) but I’m in no way fit and healthy enough to give 100% to a child, let alone the detriment to my own health) ☹️

Crispynoodle · 12/01/2023 22:20

I would probably have the baby but I'm 56 now with health problems and feel very lucky that my 4 chicks have successfully fledged and DH and myself feel liberated

Lifeatthebeach · 12/01/2023 23:15

I am 55 and my youngest child is 6, he was a complete surprise but we love having him. No regrets, was less tiring than my others and it’s great fun parenting with more patience and less nights out than my thirties 😁

Sunnytwobridges · 12/01/2023 23:25

I would terminate but it would depend on the situation. If I was going to be a single mom I’d terminate. But if I was in a loving partnership and I felt my partner would be a good dad I MIGHT consider keeping it but I can’t say for sure… my DD is 27 and I’m not sure I would want to start all over as I couldn’t wait for dd to be an adult 😂

Itawapuddytat · 13/01/2023 00:17

I will turn 49 this year. No way I'd have a baby at this age, 100% sure I would terminate the pregnancy ASAP.
