Fucking hell - that poor, poor boy. His mother and her partner are absolute monsters. What a disgusting world we live in :(

Deterrents don’t work in terms of preventing crime

Perhaps not, but at least if the bastards are jailed for life (as in, they die in prison) it gives the victim’s family and friends some sense that justice has been done. It also means there’s no chance that they will commit any more crimes.

Itsokay2020 · 03/11/2022 22:26

How many more children have to suffer at the hands of their parent(s)? It sickens me, and my heart breaks for the loss of another beautiful child who should have lived a fulfilling and happy life.

My thoughts are with everyone involved with this case, I shudder to think what they have seen and heard 😥

dottypotter · 03/11/2022 22:25

How do we know it wouldn't work?

At the moment people who do this type of thing know that the worse they will face is prison.

Because it’s been well studied.

It doesn’t work and will never work as crime isn’t logical

No one commits a crime thinking they’ll be caught, a large percentage of crimes are heat of the moment - so people don’t often think ahead, or they will never consider the prospect of being caught.

It doesn’t matter what they know, harsher punishments have been proven to not work as a deterrent to crime.

I don’t know how much difference the pandemic made to be honest. My health visitor was fairly useless and if I’d simply not bothered to turn up to appointments then they’d have left a few voicemails and that would have been it. They wouldn’t have investigated further.

I have a aeverly autistic child who attends a special school we got bugger all help during lockkdowns and the pandemic ,but i get frustrayed with people blaming lockdowns for child abuse ,most parents dont abuse their kds even in exceptional circumatances its abusive parents that abuse children

Unfortunately we don’t have the capacity or budget to keep people locked up for life outside of the worst of the worst offenders.

gonutkin · 03/11/2022 22:29

Absolutely horrific, no child should feel unsafe at home 😔 and the fact that he was older but was obviously so terrified and the abuse so normalised that he didn't run away or tell someone 🥺 I just wish someone would have seen the signs. Poor poor boy

Greyarea12 · 03/11/2022 22:30

I have just read about this for the first time about 5 mins ago. Evil! I can't even bare to think about what that poor boy went through & how he must of felt. I hope genuinely hope that someone tortures them in prison. Evil bastards.

CourtAppointedHairdresser · 03/11/2022 22:30

That poor sweetheart. I just look at his face and want to give him a big hug. I can't even imagine what he went through, knowing it was his own mother, the one person you should be able to depend on to put you first, who condoned and participated in this.
I think this might be the first time I've ever read a case, even one like this, where there were literally no quotes or remarks from the defence. Not even a perfunctory "the defendant had a sad childhood".

Charcy · 03/11/2022 22:30

This is the sort of crime the death penalty should be brought in for, and no one will change my mind.
Utter monsters. Just going to hug my DD in her sleep 😪

The Stepfather also died in jail.

What was the point of it all?
Just wish horrible messed up evil people would stop shagging round and having kids.

Why are they always pregnant when they are arrested too?
Baby Ps mother was pregnant so was Emma Tustin.

Don't want the children they have got but they are still shagging and producing more why?

DazzleRazzles · 03/11/2022 22:28

Unfortunately we don’t have the capacity or budget to keep people locked up for life outside of the worst of the worst offenders.

Because it’s so much cheaper for these low-lives to be in and out of prison (as a significant number of them are), even taking into consideration the extra police time, legal expenses and all the rest of it? I doubt it.

nonono1 · 03/11/2022 22:33

Baby Ps mother was pregnant so was Emma Tustin

I didn’t know that. I hope those kids were taken away straight after birth.

notdaddycool · 03/11/2022 22:35

Hope they never see the light off day again and life means life. They talk about disciplining him, what a weird choice of words.

NameChangeForARaisin · 03/11/2022 22:35

Awful, horrendous case.
How on earth were those bastards allowed to see each other, let alone get married in prison? I hope they die in agony.

bluewanda · 03/11/2022 22:35

Some people say evil doesn’t exist but these two (plus countless others) are living proof that it does.

My son is 15. When I saw the video of Sebastian my stomach dropped. I couldnt read the article it’s so damn heartbreaking. At that age they are mini men and have adult thoughts, imagine all the things that must’ve been going through his head every single day. All the mental and physical pain he must have been going through.
That poor, poor lad. It’s sickening

nonono1 · 03/11/2022 22:37

I agree, why the hell are these monsters allowed to get married in prison?

Don't buy that that people don't know they will be caught.

They think you can beat a child to death that lives with you and nobody will ask questions.
Some of them lately have been filming it and often text each other.

Don't buy it that they don't think they will be caught.

MugginsOverEre · 03/11/2022 22:40

He was a sweet looking wee boy. I hadn't heard of this but I'm actually sobbing now. That video of the poor kid trying to sit down carefully because he was clearly in pain broke me. I could almost feel how utterly sad he was.

I hope the scumbags receive nothing less but the same back in prison. Child killers don't fare well in there.

I've got DS10 on a sleepover in my bed tonight (dad's on nightshift so we get snuggles instead) and I think I need to turn over and hug him more now.

Vegay · 03/11/2022 22:45

That poor, poor boy. I've just seen the sentencing update on the news and it showed CCTV footage of him just sat there in his room. Hands clasped and just sat waiting. I can't imagine what was going through his head. I'm in tears.

bluewanda · 03/11/2022 22:45

I hadn't heard of this

Yet apparently I’m being unreasonable posting this thread because there are multiple threads already, according to @DazzleRazzles (despite the fact I’ve not seen one). The more people who are aware of this case the better, because it means that much-needed changes in our society are more likely to occur.

Wish I hadn’t read that article. Cried my eyes out. Been in to hug my two DS, 14 and 15.
Can’t fathom it at all.
That poor wee darling 😢
Hope they burn in hell and with a bit of luck, prison officers will turn a blind eye and they’ll get theirs.

IwishIwasSupermum · 03/11/2022 22:47

They’re complete scum, I hope they are not segregated from other prisoners and they have the shit beat out of them both. That poor boy - RIP Sebastian.

bluewanda · 03/11/2022 22:48

with a bit of luck, prison officers will turn a blind eye and they’ll get theirs.

I think that might be a bit of a myth. I think prisoners at risk of violence from other inmates are probably placed in segregated areas, although I don’t know for sure!
