We all know whoever wins, they will not speak about covid and the havoc it is causing on society still. Cases rising, hospitals bringing back social distancing, deaths going up. Measures such as mask wearing on public transport should have never ended.

QED

You are free in your little bubble of ignorance to believe what you will.

But carrying on as you are, I have no doubt that, you will at some point possibly get to reap the "rewards", perhaps someone you care about might suffer a PE, be placed in ITU on a ventilator or be gifted with long COVID.
Having witnessed the fates (first hand) of a huge volume of similarly ignorant denizens, there is little point in discourse with you - you refute peer-reviewed evidence, conducted by highly trained diligent professionals, conducted under stringent robust parameters, built on decades of research and because you and others like you, simply can't wrap your tiny ignorant little heads around basic logic, you've suffered from confirmation bias into a troll hole of utter bilge.

Just because you haven't been greatly affected, doesn't mean that others around you can't be.

But I do thank you ever so much for so quickly proving my point.

There are no peer reviewed studies of masking, the way people typically do for covid, that shows it to be effective. Nor do studies of populations show that masking restrictions altered the course of covid when you compare what happened in different places.

That idea was blown out of the water when the droplet model was shown to be inadequate. And really no surprise, that model was already under pressure with things like colds and flu, and with covid there was suddenly so much more intense attention on transmission.

Similarly the studies of barriers show them to be ineffective and even potentially negative if they impede air circulation.

While it's possible to mask for this kind of transmission, it's a whole different ballgame suggesting the population as a whole does it on an ongoing basis, and it also has real downsides in terms of other health effects and QOL.

It is thoroughly depressing reading through the profound levels of selfishness and willful ignorance posted here. For those of you railing against the apparent fascism of masks, vaccines, science, modern medicine et al. there is no medical or scientific evidence supporting your wholly misinformed positions.
You are repeating nonsense cynically created on social media, sourced and repeated by people who have no scientific or medical background or any sort of understanding of what the problem is and how to deal with it.
You are literally arguing black is white.

As a medic, I find it tedious dealing with you.

I grow ever weary of arguing with you, your arguments last about as long as a snowflake versus a flamethrower, and even when you are completely disproved, you are shown to be the ignorant tiresome, selfish, entitled misled wretches that you are - you still argue.

If you feel so strongly in your misinformed position and don't believe in the efficacy of masks/vaccines etc, (i.e. you don't believe in modern medicine and science) please stay away from ED, A/E, UTC's, GP's and very definitely don't call 111 or 999...for anything.

Either you accept every we do as absolutely valid or you accept absolutely nothing - you can't have it both ways.

accept everything? Even mastectomies for healthy children?

Hippocratic oath?

i haven’t actually used the medical establishment in years and have private insurance that I don’t need because I care about my health and keep myself healthy

used 111 for child once or should I not have done that?

you sound unhinged

OMG you internet hero!
You noted that I made in minor error in grammar!
The village trolls will carry you through the streets and people will think of you when they're doing the underpants charleston.
A day shall be named after you and the people will give thanks to you for being born!
I salute you!

😂

Meklk · 23/10/2022 14:06

Are you vaccinated? I have 3, will have 4th one soon and I forgot Covid. I had it at least 7 times. But nothing more than a runny nose. And honestly, I would better die than survive another lockdown. No thanks.

seperatedmum · 23/10/2022 14:07

snort can we all play imaginary professions?

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 23/10/2022 12:06

What should the govt start doing?

Businesses were going under due to covid restrictions..

What exactly should the govt be doing?

Vaccinations are on schedule, what else?

Exactly.

Do you not see that one of the reasons we are in this mess is because of hard Covid lockdowns?

Bobby80 · 23/10/2022 14:12

YABU

What exact measures would you like in place?

I'm assuming you are vaccinated?

If you feel at risk then you wear a mask or do whatever makes you feel less at risk.

I honestly don't see what more anybody wants done. COVID is a virus, like the many, many others. Long COVID is post viral fatigue, like you can get from many, many others. Nothing has really changed. We just know the name of 1 more virus. Calm down.

Camilla's stunt double? is that for jumping off buildings or just boring engagements?

Sorry, you didn’t really explain how ME having a vaccine helps them?

If someone I love gets Covid and suffers, my vaccination status isn’t going to do much good is it?

Xenia · 23/10/2022 14:14

From early 2020 I have been against the lockdowns and mandatory mask requirements and have not changed my views at all on that. Now we have saddled a generation with massive debts to pay for furlough etc. It was not in the greater good and should never be done again.

balalake · 23/10/2022 14:15

@Tadpoll we did not have hard Covid lockdowns. Ask anyone in Spain or Italy for a comparison.

Though the timing and nature of the restrictions that were in place, and the way they were removed, caused far more economic impact than should have happened from them.

Helpmewithteen · 23/10/2022 14:16

Inbredyokel · 23/10/2022 13:56

The fact that not a single one of you is able to refute or disprove anything I have written, let alone provide any basis for a reasonable argument...and the only thing that you can do is resort to childish name-calling, further reinforces my point of how utterly ill-suited to critical thinking you are.
With your collective (and individual) stupidity, I am amazed that when trying to negotiate the challenges of walking upright by yourselves, more of you don't fall down more often or routinely shit yourselves when faced with the challenge of using a toilet.

I only have two words.

‘Don’t Care’.

She does the DV stuff (raises awareness + cash), but she feels she’s getting on a bit to by shimmying along the bar with Zara at 3am. So I pop on a tiara and go for it. Sophie’s a wild one!

that’s no medic that’s for sure. Not unless the polytechnic of Llandrindod wells has started doing correspondence courses.

Yep. The damage is done, it’s not worth even entertaining as an option.

99victoria · 23/10/2022 14:26

I was in hospital for an operation last week. I had to do a LFT 2 days before and on the morning of the op but that was it - i didn't have to wear a mask at any time before or after my op. I was happy with that

I find it sad that really entertaining posts like those featuring the “Water Troll” are deleted and stuff like this is allowed 😃
I get it’s not always easy to spot a “fake” or troll post but I guess talking about mythical serpents entering the water system etc sort of gives the game away

Moon22 · 23/10/2022 14:33

We can't live in a world where we all wear masks forever more. Didn't stop covid anyway. Obviously, you should wear one if it makes you feel more comfortable.
Hospitals are on their knees. Nurses are leaving in their droves- nurses are still wearing masks in some parts of the nhs. I wear one for 13 hours a day where I work, and it's not something I will not be doing for too much longer. Like alot of others, I will leave nursing, do something else and be mask free!!
Covid has done damage to every single area of society and it just can't go on.

Same here. No, we do not need or want to go back to Covid restrictions, lockdowns, masks and all that bollocks again. We damaged the economy and our people enough with it first time around. Why go back for more?

I definitely wouldn't vote for a party lead by anyone who wanted to reimpose Covid restrictions. Ridiculous.

Anyone who wishes to isolate themselves and/or wear masks when out and about is welcome to do so. They were never banned. I won't be joining you though, and nor will most people I know.

TheKeatingFive · 23/10/2022 14:42

But what does 'address covid' even mean OP?

Its a viral disease and it isn't going anywhere.

Thankfully now with vaccines and treatments, it isn't a significant threat to the vast majority. You can protect yourself by taking any vaccines you're offered and wearing a medical grade mask if you want to. And then crack on, because there are much bigger issues facing the country than this.

justasking111 · 23/10/2022 14:46

China is dealing with it in this way. From a member of my family who lives there.

My wife is still away in Shanghai. She went to deal with some family admin and I was supposed to go with her, but recent Covid restrictions lead to all sorts of problems with the flights and I was unable to fly with her. Flights from Kunming to Shanghai kept getting cancelled, and eventually she had to fly via another city, turning 3 hour flight into an 11 hour flight (incl. layover)
When she first arrived in Shanghai, the hotel she had booked would not take her as she had flown in from a city classed as medium risk. She eventually found a hotel that would take here.
After 2 days, her health code turned red, and she had to self-isolate in the hotel for a week, with PCR tests daily. This was because she had used a cab that had been used by a detected case earlier that day. My wife was a close contact of a close contact, the driver. So after a week of negative PCR tests my wife was waiting for the green code after her last PCR test. In the meantime, the hotel she is staying in was locked down, because one of the guests was a close contact of a known case. Here we go again.
Luckily I escaped the madness, and my wife has lots of time to practice here meditation. And I get to play alone in the kitchen.

The only measure I am willing to keep following is to have my Covid vaccination booster and flu shots when offered every year. Anyone who wants me to do anything else can go fuck themselves.

Revolvingwhore · 23/10/2022 14:53

This is pretty much where I am with it.

The damage which has been done to my teenagers and extended family from covid measures is extensive and immense.
