I think both are awful and we should have a general election but if you had to choose between these two, who would you choose to be PM?

YANBU = Boris
YABU = Rishi

God, surely Labour supporters have enough faith in their own party to win a general election after the shambles of Brexit-Covid-EnergyCrisis-Cost of living crisis-crashing pound cluster fuck with needing to cross their fingers and hope that Boris gets in and seals the deal?

No, polling suggests Labour would easily beat a Sunak government too. But if it’s going to be tories for two years anyway, why not jet Johnson run them into the ground?

akabluebell · 22/10/2022 18:49

Sunak is part of the toxic government we've had the last few years, not to mention he was fine for partying. I'm absolutely sure he is not the right person to lead us. To be Frank, I think the Tories are toxic, will remain toxic and will continue to line their own pockets at the expense of the poor, the dispossessed, and the decent people just wanting the services for which they pay.

Do you know of one? Which one?

Because running the government into the ground entails running ourselves into the ground? You're willing to sacrifice some of us, to get the Labour party in? Are you fucking serious? At what cost? Whose lives?

Whatafustercluck · 22/10/2022 18:52

I would vote for The Yacht Party party if I thought it would keep the economy going.

That's handy because that's what you've pretty much got, whoever wins the contest. Rich men playing with people's lives.

Don’t get angry at me, I’m not a Tory member cretin who’s actually voting for these dickheads.

But if the tories need to properly crash and burn to learn its lesson then I’ve no choice but to be philosophical about it.

Blossomtoes · 22/10/2022 18:55

Who’d be sacrificed? Not the families relying on foodbanks or the people who can’t afford their mortgages who are being sacrificed to make wealthy people richer now.

If my boss is a cunt (morally) but he manages to keep a company going so that I can continue with earning a wage and living my life as I see fit, I don't give a fuck if that boss's morals are questionable. If he's a sadistic, cruel cunt? That, I take issue with. If not? It's between him and God. Would I nominate Boris for sainthood? No.

100a% this!! People are insane!

If your definition of insanity is thinking we should aim higher than being governed by a corrupt, lying, racist piece of shit who has shown nothing but contempt for the people of this country then fine, happy to be declared "insane".

Christ there's no hope with these views of settling for lieing cheating leaders. We're worth a lot more than we're getting. If it was a relationship we'd all be saying LTB . . .

massive unaffordable welfare state and spending

Wait until Labour get in - then you’ll see a massive unaffordable welfare state and spending.

This. Horrendous prospect

akabluebell · 22/10/2022 19:13

@neverbeenskiing I totally agree with you

I don't give a fuck who is in charge or what party they're under if they can keep the fucking country going. Seriously? You're that obsessed with party politics?

I would vote for The Yacht Party party if I thought it would keep the economy going. I've never been on a yacht

I don't get this allegiance to parties.

exactly - it’s pathetic and deluded

Murdoch1949 · 22/10/2022 19:21

Sadly, unless there is a big change in Tory members' votes, Sunak will be beaten by racism. They don't like non white English MPs.

I don't think he lost out because of racism. I think Truss won because she was a pawn in this weird ass game they're playing.

The way things are going Tory members won’t get a vote. Sunak’s the only one who’s over the 100 threshold.

SleeplessInEngland · 22/10/2022 19:24

Lol at the “how dare you be tribal” posts. Yeah, after 12 years of this shit my allegiance is to the non-Tory party, and brexit-voting Sunak doesn’t change that.

HotDogJumpingFrogHaveACookie · 22/10/2022 19:27

Provided it gets as far as a vote, I'll vote for Rishi.

Yes I agree that many wouldn’t want a brown PM

The voting results between Truss and Sunak were pretty close, 56%/44% iirc and giving that the stand out membership favourite was Badenoch, who was far more popular than Truss and Sunak, then I don't think you can accuse the Tory members of racism.

crowsfeet57 · 22/10/2022 19:45

Given the looming prospect of us finding ourselves at war with Russia, I'd have to go with Boris. Rishi does not have the experience or personality to deal with Putin.

Completely agree. The membership were driven by other considerations. Not so much skin colour. Whether that applies to general electorate not sure.

HRTQueen · 22/10/2022 19:50

I'm hoping Johnson doesn’t get the MP’s support needed and makes some announcement how though he would love the chance it’s not the right time for the country for him to return. He certainly isn’t done with being a senior politician

I wonder what the Sunak and Johnson meeting is about. Them working as a team. Johnson got the job he wanted under May what job will he want now apart from PM

You unfortunately don't know much about the Conservative Party, they are way more tolerant as a whole than Labour!

RedRobyn2021 · 22/10/2022 19:50

Better the devil you know, personally I'd go for Boris

HRTQueen · 22/10/2022 19:51

Racism runs deep in our society even if not openly expressed
