Would you vote conservative again?

I wouldn’t vote conservative again after the total shambles that have been the last 12 years. They’re constantly infighting rather than sorting out the economy and have left the NHS in a total mess. No care for people suffering from the cost of living crisis

labour will make a complete mess of things even worse than the Conservatives. If you think otherwise you’re living in cloud cuckoo land.

I think you’re resident in cloud cuckoo land if you think things could be a worse mess than we’ve seen in the last month.

we will all be taxed to the hilt under Labour.

Taxation is currently the highest for 70 years.

walkingonsunshinekat · 23/10/2022 20:43

But I know that labour will make a complete mess of things even worse than the Conservatives. If you think otherwise you’re living in cloud cuckoo land. There was actually nothing wrong with Truss’ economic policies - low tax, high growth - it was the sudden implementation of them combined with high borrowing that spooked the markets

Hang on, read that back to yourself? Nothing wrong with Truss's plan apart from all of it lol!

You cannot just wish high growth, the markets completely rejected her plan - which was to borrow to fund low taxes, it wouldn't have worked!
Growth is always (historically) backed by Govt spending or by increased tax revenues = greater Govt spending i.e Norway, once Europes poorest nation, now the richest in the world.

Thatcher/Lawson got finances under control, then cut taxes = growth BUT what they forget to tell us all is that North Sea oil revenues save the UK - that isn't going to happen this time around.

You don't know that about Labour because they haven't been in power for 12.5 years & they wont be in for another two years.

TBF its not possible to do worse than what Truss did, its beyond stupidity and yet the whole Tory party/Govt want us all to believe that this was just two idiots and no one else had anything to do with it.

walkingonsunshinekat · 23/10/2022 20:47

Ha don't make me laugh, taxes worldwide are going to go up and the UK's will be the highest, due to Truss and the Tories.

You don't know any businesses planning to leave the UK if Labour get in.

VicToryA · 23/10/2022 20:48

I voted Conservative for my entire life (now in my 50s), but did not vote Conservative at the last election because of Brexit. I would now add "because of Lockdown" (which was the worst policy since Brexit).

A lot would have to change for me to vote Conservative again - though as I disagree with the Lib Dems about a lot of things (my Lib Dem vote at the last GE was a protest vote - it's a super-safe Conservative seat), I couldn't vote for them, either. And I disagree with the Labour party about pretty much everything, so Hell would freeze over before they got my vote.

So I am now politically homeless.

TheLassWiADelicateAir · 23/10/2022 20:53

Yes. I would vote for any candidate most likely to defeat an SNP candidate- if that's Conservative, yes, no hesitation.

JimTheShit · 23/10/2022 20:55

I would have to vote Tory, unfortunately. I can’t bring myself to vote for a party like Labour.

Why not?

Walkaround · 23/10/2022 21:09

@MariEllie - I think you are living in cloud cuckoo land. Your post is basically arguing that Truss’s policies spooked the markets, but the markets were wrong and there was actually nothing whatsoever wrong with her plan of massive borrowing (from said markets) whilst providing no evidence whatsoever the country could ever pay the money back. They tried a similarly insane plan in the 1970s dash for growth. What sort of fantasy business world do you live in? The same one as Corbyn, where the only problem with his policies was also that the markets are “wrong” and “too easily spooked”?

As for leaving the UK - well, after Brexit, covid, Tory infantilism, the effects of the Ukraine war and Trussonomics, it’s really not surprising if businesses are considering quitting the UK. We are advertising ourselves as a morally bankrupt, unstable, imploding fuck up that it is increasingly difficult to do trade with, has been run down by austerity, has crumbling infrastructure and has been infiltrated at the very top by dangerous egotists who are using the country as the test centre for their extremist ideologies.

@tillyFam1971

I'm not going to PM you because I wouldn't want to conceal my ridicule at your response.

I can only think you are the 'bring Boris back' troll from earlier. If not, then you are seriously, seriously deluded.

FFS you should at least learn to spell properly to spew your hatred and homophobia.

That's always assuming that your post are left to stand.

Or do you think that by posting at this time of night that @MNHQ won't notice your ignorant, offensive nonsense?

GreatHonkingPudding · 23/10/2022 21:25

Pretty much everything in our country is worse since 2010.

I read this week that the average person in the U.K. is now poorer than the average person in Slovenia, and soon would be poorer than the average person in Poland.

Court cases don't get to court for years, there's 3.5x as many people on NHS waiting lists as in 2010, schools will soon run out of money, more British children lost a parent or caregiver during covid than comparable countries...

Our country is collapsing around our ears and I can't escape the conclusion that either the Tories are staggeringly incompetent and doing it by accident or malevolent and doing it on purpose.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 22/10/2022 09:49

I don’t know how anyone with a social conscious could vote Tory. Either very very rich, very very stupid or just a cunt.

I came on here to say exactly same thing!

AdelaideRo · 23/10/2022 21:37

I've never voted Tory. Don't think I ever will.

I find the me-me-me nature of their policies totally reprehensible. The only way to a better society is to close the gap between rich and poor not widen it (look at Scandinavia).

derxa · 23/10/2022 21:39

Don’t count your chickens. Mordaunt could easily get to 100 now and the membership will go for her.

TheHonourableHonoriaGlossop · 23/10/2022 21:55

The main problem for me is that choosing between the two main parties is the equivalent to choosing between execution methods.
they both have fundamental flaws which make them, imo, unelectable. I hope there's a Monster Raving Loony party candidate, I think I'll vote for them.

Can you read? Obviously you can’t think. I said there was nothing wrong with the aims of Truss’ plan - or perhaps you like large state high taxes like most socialists? Don’t worry I remember the last real Labour government - why I’m not keen on another. The years of stagnation and being ruled by left wing unions. Hopeless.
