Why is Boris on holiday?

Isn't he a serving MP for Uxbridge?

Parliament is in session and there was a 3 line whip 2 nights ago.

How come he is in a luxury hotel in the Caribbean on holiday? What is he doing for his constituents and democracy on a tropical beach? Don't MPs take their holidays when Parliament is not session?

Is this just another example of Boris doing his own thing and making his own rules?

Personally I'm glad Boris is away, wish they'd all fuck off to the Caribbean and let some competent people do the job instead.

janedoe30 · 21/10/2022 08:29

Funny, my husband & I were just discussing this! It's an absolute joke ..non of them care about the people they are supposed to represent - I despair Envy

Iheartmykyndle · 21/10/2022 08:29

Maybe he can't afford a holiday in the school holidays.

MeowMeowPowerRangers · 21/10/2022 08:31

They can still go on holiday's, just like us normal peasants can.

It's doing us a favour hopefully they won't vote him back in.

JabberwockyPie · 21/10/2022 08:32

He's flying back now. To join the race to leadership.

L1ttledrummergirl · 21/10/2022 08:32

Because he's a lazy piece of shit who only cares about himself.

Agreed

BruceAndNosh · 21/10/2022 08:34

Because he's a lazy fucker?

wonderstuff · 21/10/2022 08:34

I don’t understand why MPs aren’t restricted to the times parliament isn’t sitting for holidays? They seem to get similar periods away from parliament to school holidays? Although I wonder if the people of Uxbridge notice when he’s gone, can’t imagine he’s a terribly conscientious MP.

Eve · 21/10/2022 08:35

Wonder who paid for that holiday - won’t have been him.

Yep. The only decent one sadly, seemed to be David Amess.

Mumoblue · 21/10/2022 08:36

Because he’s a knob and the Tory party is a joke.

FuriousCheekyFucker · 21/10/2022 08:36

He's flying back now to win the Leadership vote.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 21/10/2022 08:38

Boris is always on holiday. He’s an absolute workshy chancer.

I really think MPs ought to be held to account for their attendance, both in Parliament and their constituency. Everyone else who is paid for a job is expected to do it.

luxxlisbon · 21/10/2022 08:38

Who cares. Why are people forgetting about his clown is a disgraced former PM. He was ousted by his own party for making such a shit show of things.
How on earth does nothing stick to this man?!

Maybe he can't afford a holiday in the school holidays.

Not with his 115K a year pension and the £350,000 he got for making a 30 minute speech in the US the other week.

lovemelongtime · 21/10/2022 08:39

Because he is a self serving twat

Iwantmyoldnameback · 21/10/2022 08:39

They don't have enough holidays for him, he has made laziness an art form.

megletthesecond · 21/10/2022 08:40

Because he's lazy and entitled and has rich mates who want to keep him close.

kegofcoffee · 21/10/2022 08:40

It's crazy isn't it.

The commons sits for around 125 days a year, and he's on holiday during those days!

I'm not really in agreement with the fact they get paid whether they turn up or not. I also don't agree with the fact that the government refused to release their attendance records.

diian · 21/10/2022 08:41

Maybe he is 'working from home' on his tropical beach or is going to be a digital nomad PM!

Because he's a lazy piece of shit who only cares about himself.

Yup.

Also, why do people call him Boris? Are there any other UK politicians people always refer to with just the first name? I prefer Johnson. He isn't special and exempt from all normal rules/conventions, although he undoubtedly thinks he is.

And while I'm on the subject, George Osborne chose in his teens to be known by his middle name (his grandfather's name) instead of the first name his parents had chosen for him, namely Gideon, which he hated. Some political opponents of his always referred to him as Gideon and implied he'd changed name to sound less posh. I don't like George Osborne but I always felt this was very unfair.

Meanwhile, Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson makes the decision, aged 13, that he will henceforth be known as Boris, not Alexander, and nobody ever attributes dubious motives to him or refuses to call him Boris! The man is Teflon. It baffles me.
