Why is Boris on holiday?

diian · 21/10/2022 08:25

Isn't he a serving MP for Uxbridge?

Parliament is in session and there was a 3 line whip 2 nights ago.

How come he is in a luxury hotel in the Caribbean on holiday? What is he doing for his constituents and democracy on a tropical beach? Don't MPs take their holidays when Parliament is not session?

Is this just another example of Boris doing his own thing and making his own rules?

Looks like BoJo the Clown is a shoo- in to me. Only him and Sunak will get the necessary 100+ nominations. And guess who the 100,000 Tory membership will choose between the floppy haired Eton toff vs Rishi Sunak. Hmmm …

It's not a job like that. He isn't required to be at a desk 9-5....

It's a job where a key requirement is to go to the House of Commons and take part in debates and votes, which can't be done remotely. Most former Prime Ministers, whether they've stayed in the HoC or gone to the Lords, have taken an active part in the country's political life for many years after leaving office. They have a certain gravitas. As Johnson has never had any of that, it's no great surprise that he's made no effort in recent weeks to do any real work. I expect he has a book deal to work on.

itrytomakemyway · 21/10/2022 10:08

He didn't nearly die from covid - that was another one of his lies.

I do know people who have been very seriously ill from covid - none of them have taken holidays as they have no money thanks to Boris and his cronies crashing the economy.

I would hate to be a none Johnson supporting living in his constituency. He must be one of the worst MPs ever.

Does anyone know if he has actually been in Parlaiment at all over the past 6 weeks?

I cannot believe that people are still defending him and that he may well get another go at being PM. Just defies belief.

theworldhas · 21/10/2022 10:09

Seriously though - what exactly has Johnson done to redeem himself since he was made to step down in disgrace a few months ago?

Come on Boris, you’re the one chance the Tories have of getting re-elected. I miss his bumbling speeches. They brought a tiny ray of happiness“

Are you insane?

theworldhas · 21/10/2022 10:11

Assume that every word coming out of Johnson’s mouth is a lie and you won’t go far wrong.

People have confused correlation with causation. Johnson resigned > Liz Truss crashed and burned > ergo Johnson was great.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 21/10/2022 10:14

He’s a truly revolting individual.

itrytomakemyway · 21/10/2022 10:16

BJ supporters on MN!

His bumbling speeches were a ray of sunshine - Really? That's your reason for getting him back? He brought me no sunshine with his constant lies. A comedian would bring a tough of levity to politics - maybe we could wheel one in for laughs.

He didn't do anything wrong, not really. He just had a few lockdown parties - didn't we all - errr NO. I kept the law, as did all of my family and friends. Not only did millions of people not have parties, they also did not visit dying relatives in hospital, they did not attend funerals, they did not see their loved ones in care homes for months. All Boris had to do was refrain for holding parties. He could not even manage this.

Well he got Brexit done - oh really? What amazing progres did he make on that. And while I'm at it where is all the money the NHS was promised on the side of that bus.

He's not Corbyn - no, and more's the pity. And frankly if that is all you have got, bearing in mind that he has not been the leader of the opposition for quite some time now, then it really is about time to readust your 'whataboutery' arguments.

liveforsummer · 21/10/2022 10:16

He did that in the middle of some quite important going's on when he was actually prime minister so no surprise he does it now!

You can still hear his bumbling speeches if you really want to, you will just have to pay £350K for the privilege.

Did you feel those rays of happiness when people were dying alone whilst he partied? And when he used those ever-so-calculated bumbling speeches to lie to you and to Parliament? Did you feel happy when he condoned sexual molestation by someone he appointed to a post where he would have power over junior MPs and party workers?

HappydaysArehere · 21/10/2022 10:22

He wants to be leader again. His ego is beyond belief. There are even people popping up on tv - a discredited MP and another who insists his constituents want him. It’s like a nightmare. The damage and hurt caused by Truss and then the suggestion that that immoral, self seeking, lying, lazy idiot thinks he can “charm” his way back into No 10 where he can enjoy his gold wallpaper and copious drinking at taxpayers expense.

HappydaysArehere · 21/10/2022 10:27

That MP wasn’t discredited. I mixed him up. However his insistence that Johnson is the answer to all ills should tell us a lot about him.

balalake · 21/10/2022 10:29

The question should be, why is he not in prison on remand awaiting trial. Corruption, corporate manslaughter and probably a few other charges.

Proteinpudding · 21/10/2022 10:45

Has everyone forgotten the final reason he was actually forced to resign - that he employed a chief whip who he knew had a reputation for sexually assaulting other colleagues, and then lied several times about whether he knew about it when giving him the job?

I mean, it's bad enough that there were so many things he did wrong that it is easy to mix up what the final issue was. But supporting sex offenders isn't really something you can redeem yourself from.

HannahTheBanana · 21/10/2022 10:48

Exactly. The answer is because he is C u next Tuesday.

Ivyy · 21/10/2022 11:00

They probably told him to go have a nice break while they used Liz Truss to make bojo look better and then bring him back for round 2

CloudPop · 21/10/2022 11:06

"Once they enter the workplace, the British are amongst the most idle in the world".

Maybe this wasn't really a criticism, just a statement of aspiration for MPs?

Joystir59 · 21/10/2022 11:07

Iheartmykyndle · 21/10/2022 08:29

Maybe he can't afford a holiday in the school holidays.

😂

CloudPop · 21/10/2022 11:08

Please all email your MP giving him/her your views on the return of Johnson. This is the only tiny way the electorate can have any say in this matter.

Kissingfrogs25 · 21/10/2022 11:10

Actually he was doing speeches in the US and DR is very close to where he has been working. I am assuming they added a few days to make a small break of it. As he is entitled to do. He must be exhausted after the last few years.

He is on his way back and about to get well over one hundred backers.

Croque · 21/10/2022 11:11

They are on holiday because they are both effectively unemployed right now and are 'making memories' with their toddlers. I know that he has some constituency business from time to time but he has enough autonomy and longevity to sneak out when it suits.

His situation is basically a posh version of the Jeremy Kyle show. He needs to come back and make himself useful because he has some talents which are going to waste.

Yazo · 21/10/2022 11:11

He's always on holiday, people have always allowed gus shoddy behaviour and rewarded him for it, why would he change now. If anything the worse he is the more some people like him. Bonkers.

ihatethefuckingmuffin · 21/10/2022 11:20

When I read on twitter, same day as Truss was brought in, that the plan was to burn her and bring the Teflon one back before Christmas I remember laughing. It had to be a joke.

Wasn’t there another mp that lived in the Caribbean instead of in his constituency?

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 21/10/2022 11:22

I swear that if the fucking bastard selfish greedy Tories re-elect him I’m either going to sit in a corner, rocking gently and singing Lavender’s Blue Dilly Dilly to myself on loop or I’m going to get my walking stick and a big fuck off placard and head toward Westminster.

The man has no integrity, no shame and is a fucking disgrace frankly.

Anyone who votes for him next week is a person who won’t get any respect from me. Not any more.
