Any Tory voters here who are switching to Labour this time?

Curious because I think this rarely happens and I can't see Labour getting in, I don't think Tory voters change their mind. Am I very wrong? Do you/have you?

I want to, but I just can't. The only thing I can say about Labour is they might be slightly less bad. And then Keir Starmer speaks...

GasPanic · 20/10/2022 14:33

If there is a GE I will read the manifestos and then make a decision.

How else would anyone sensibly make a decision ?

I mean, do people just have some sort of blind allegiance to one side or the other and vote for them no matter what ?

RedAppleGirl · 20/10/2022 14:33

No.
I'll be staying the same.
Can't stand labour back2front woke party.

DoubleDinnurs · 20/10/2022 14:34

I am a tactical floating voter. Voted Tory a few time previously. Never, ever again.

QuentininQuarantino · 20/10/2022 14:36

As above - I’ve voted for all three main parties in England in a few constituencies but I can’t see myself voting conservative again. I didn’t think I’d ever forgive libdem after the student loan vote though, and would probably give them my (tactical) vote now, so never say never!

HotDogJumpingFrogHaveACookie · 20/10/2022 14:36

I'm a floating voter in a red wall tory constituency. Last time I voted tory because I felt the tory candidate for my constituency would do a good job. I was wrong and will vote labour next time unless something catastrophic happens.

You know full well a lot of people do, yes.

Yes, I'm pretty certain I will change my vote. I have posted on here before about this, I have been a Tory voter for all my life (63 years), voted for BREXIT and quite liked Boris Johnson.

However, the complete shit show that the government has descended into, and their lack of awareness about ordinary working people who can't afford to eat/heat their homes/pay their bills or get a mortgage is unbelievable. And don't even get me started on the lack of concern for pensioners or those with disabilities.....

I shall not vote Tory again. Up until recently I said I wouldn't be able to vote Labour but I'm genuinely reconsidering that, and I know others in RL who think the same. If there were a general election tomorrow, yes, I'd vote Labour for the first time ever.

pobparker · 20/10/2022 14:44

I have voted Tory since the Indy referendum , I live in an SNP / Tory marginal seat , and do not want Scexit , so voted tactically
I voted lab or Lib Dem before this and will probably go back to Lab , as long as they refuse to work with the SNP
I cannot vote for this shambles

Thelnebriati · 20/10/2022 14:44

I'm an ex Labour voter in a Labour safe seat. My Labour MP has blocked my email and doesn't respond no matter what the subject.
I'm hoping there will be an SDP candidate I can vote for, otherwise I will spoil my ballot. I just can't vote for the current iteration of Labour, they have sold us out for identity politics.

Pinkandpurplehairedlady · 20/10/2022 14:46

I'm a lifelong tory voter but can't in good conscience continue to vote for them after the shit show of the last few weeks. I'll probably vote Labour in the next election.

WallaceinAnderland · 20/10/2022 14:47

Isn't the next GE two years away?

DesignerRecliner · 20/10/2022 14:50

If a GE is called soon, then I'm stumped. I can't vote for labour with their stance on trans rights, I have daughters and I won't put them at risk anymore than they have to be.

But the Tory party no longer represents my views and wishes for the country

That's interesting. Are you able to specify what your desires for the country are and what theirs are?

Might have to be a protest vote, can't think of anyone I would actually want in charge right now

Kellie45 · 20/10/2022 14:55

I have lived under a Labour government (and I don’t count the Blair government because Blair was a conservative in all but name) and I would never vote Labour. They are a wrecking ball for any enterprise

PurBal · 20/10/2022 14:56

I usually vote Tory. I won’t be next time. I generally vote based on policy and/or whether the person is a good constituency MP (I had an amazing LD one some years ago). So not sure I’ll vote Labour as the candidates are usually weak in safe blue seats (where I currently live).

LadyApplejack · 20/10/2022 14:58

No. I won't endorse this Labour party just because the Tories are also crap. I feel Labour are as out-of-touch as the Tories, just in a different way. They won't be able to solve the economy - in fact they were more in favour of damaging lockdown policies - and will probably continue with identity politics that I can't stand. Leaves me very politically homeless.

Abei · 20/10/2022 14:58

I won't be voting Tory but I can't vote labour either. A new party is needed.

I agree with you about Blair. I'm curious about the comment on reading manifestos though. Did you read the manifesto for that government and if so did the policies carried out deviate from it much?

MarshaBradyo · 20/10/2022 14:59

Don’t forget a large chunk of the electorate vote in the centre and switch - hence landslide majorities for Blair and Johnson. It’s likely many in the middle would have switched

meateatingveggie · 20/10/2022 15:01

I won't vote Tory and I certainly won't vote Labour. In fact I'd vote for anyone before labour.

So that leaves....?

Anonymouslyposting · 20/10/2022 15:03

I’m a Tory voter (and a Tory member).

As Truss is going (thank god) and the next election isn’t until 2024 we have no idea what the tories will look like when we finally get a say. So I don’t know how I’ll vote at the next election, however, if there had been an election with Truss and Keir as the candidates I would have voted for Keir. I also would have voted for Keir over Boris.

My instincts are Tory but I have voted Labour before and would do so again if I looked at the people and manifestos and Labour looked more credible. It would be really nice if we could have some centreist candidates from both parties so we never again have to chose between the utter crap of the last few elections.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 20/10/2022 15:03

No. Couldn’t vote labour. But detest this shower of shit in government. What if Labour got in, they had a coup and got Corbin back in charge, or one of his ilk.

Stars71 · 20/10/2022 15:04

Never will I vote La
