Any Tory voters here who are switching to Labour this time?

Curious because I think this rarely happens and I can't see Labour getting in, I don't think Tory voters change their mind. Am I very wrong? Do you/have you?

Floating voter here. I voted labour from 1979 to 1997. Since then I've voted LD and con.
I'm leaning towards Labour if Starmer can keep a lid on the far left.

I'd sooner stick pins in my eyes than vote Labour 😮

😂quite

BertieQueen · 20/10/2022 15:34

I won’t vote Tory unless something dramatically changes…but I don’t want labour or any of the others!🤷🏼‍♀️

StapFooterin · 20/10/2022 15:36

I mean, do people just have some sort of blind allegiance to one side or the other and vote for them no matter what ?

Well, it is arguably what keeps things so polarised here in NI. I doubt it's unique to us.

FistFullOfRegrets · 20/10/2022 15:36

Starmer is on BBC now, there's just NO WAY.

he can't stabilise a glass of water, let alone an economy.

Shame they can't just hand it over to Labour though, see him completely fail to put his money where his mouth is.

unchienandalucia · 20/10/2022 15:37

Totally depends on who the tories chose as their next leader and what happens over next couple of years and their GE manifesto at that time. As has been proven this year, anything can happen and can happen fast!

Dorisbonson · 20/10/2022 15:38

Normally vote blue but can't vote for these morons.

I'm emigrating in a few weeks so don't think it's right for me to vote when I'm not in the UK, but it would probably be Labour vote otherwise even though I disagree with lots of their policies.

Lily073 · 20/10/2022 15:39

I live in a Tory safe seat area and the candidate does a good job and deserves to keep their seat for that reason. I will consider the manifestoes before making my decision but I won't be voting Labour.

Imnotswallowingthat · 20/10/2022 15:40

Forget the polls, the days of Labour having landslide victories are gone. One of the main reasons, which will never be reversed, is the situation in Scotland. The rise of the SNP has badly damaged Labour. When Tony Blair swept to power Labour won 56 seats in Scotland - in 2019 they won 1. They will never regain those seats.

Els1e · 20/10/2022 15:42

Floating voter here. Voted conservative last time as really didn’t like Jeremy Corbin. Got concerns but yes, will probably go labour next time. I would love a realistic alternative but in my area we don’t always get much choice.

Purrfecto · 20/10/2022 15:43

Voted conservative all my life, never again. 12 years and look at services, everything run into the ground, how do people honestly think Labour would be worse that what we have now.
What have they improved in 12 years? My vote is with labour or will happily vote tactically to get them out. I’m not a huge Starmer fan, think Andy Burnham would be better but we need change and need it now.

AdoraBell · 20/10/2022 15:44

Where we lived last year Labour didn’t field a candidate. Don’t know if they will where we are now.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 20/10/2022 15:45

I’m a floating voter. I didn’t vote Tory in the last election but I have voted for them previously, along with Lib Dems, Labour, Green and also spoilt a vote when I thought they were all useless, lying twats (that was sometime around the Brexit referendum and it’s somehow got worse since then). If there was a general election tomorrow, I didn’t know who I’d vote for. The Tories seem to be actively wanting to get out of power but the other parties seem happy sat on the other side disagreeing but not necessarily saying how they would deal with the situations.

If Labour want to get into power they need some solid policies that doesn’t screw the middle earners because that is where they will pick up votes. So will probably be seen as Tory lite. I’m in a Tory safe seat, so other parties don’t tend to bother with putting a proper candidate up, they parachute someone in who has no clue about the local area. The other parties need to actually put up a fight, make an effort to get elected.

beonmywaythen · 20/10/2022 15:46

100% yes. Labour is going to win huge. Will be my first time voting labour.

Topee · 20/10/2022 15:48

I wouldn’t be prepared to vote either Tory or Labour. I loathe how the Tories are wrecking this country but as a woman and mother of daughters there’s not a chance I could vote Labour either.

edwinbear · 20/10/2022 15:48

I won’t vote Labour purely because I have 2 DC at private school and can’t afford the 20% VAT they will add onto the fees. I probably would otherwise.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 20/10/2022 15:49

Christ no. Greens will get my vote.

QOD · 20/10/2022 15:50

this is amazing, I never talk politics here as I always saw so many rants about bloody torys etc

I am amazed there are so many of us tories here lol - i am same as most tho, lifelong fear of Labour

mavismorpoth · 20/10/2022 15:50

Kellie45 · 20/10/2022 15:30

Sorry what comment about manifestos?

A few have said they read the manifestos to decide who to vote for.

That's interesting, why the lifelong fear?

HollyBollyBooBoo · 20/10/2022 15:51

Have Labour given a definition of what a woman is yet?

Can't vote until they do.

bathsh3ba · 20/10/2022 15:52

No. The Tories are in a complete mess at the moment but that doesn't mean I believe Labour would do a decent job of running the country. I don't know how I will vote if there is a general election, I may choose not to vote at all but I won't be voting Labour.

onmywayamarillo · 20/10/2022 15:53

Always vote labour, unfortunately I moved to Tory stronghold 😩 but I'll still vote labour

Yes we normally hide in the shadows because we get shouted down so much on here ha.

Voted Tory all my life but honest to God, no more. But I can't vote for Labour when they think a women can have a penis. So I'm politically homeless. We need a new common bloody sense party.

Votes run in families and many people are blindly aligned to one party. It's extremely polarised. I have friends who would feel sick at the very thought of voting Tory as their family "are Labour" it's very normal to be soclialised in this way at home and it carry on into adulthood.
