make speeches lauding the UK for the opportunities it gave their parents and themselves then try to snatch them away from others after they have benefitted from those opportunities?
Makes no sense to me, at all 🤷‍♀️
Of course, the obvious answer is that their parents arrived into the UK via legal routes.
Many of those legal routes no longer exist (very deliberately) and this Government (if it can be called such) seems to be doing it’s level best to override the asylum system (as Conservative governments have been for some years).
I welcome immigration. Our nation is what it is thanks to it. Has been for millennia.

Keep struggling. You might understand one day. But then of course it will be too late.

So you can't even attempt to explain your point or produce any evidence for it?

Lozlozbozboz · 26/09/2023 15:01

Exactly, how come children of immigrants seem to be more racist than me, a white working / middle class male? This is a terrible state of affairs that seeks only to engorge the right

I think it's a drive to be more English than English ? Maybe as a reaction to people like Priti Patel who setup a grading system for how British you were based on how many generations you could trace back.

lollipoprainbow · 26/09/2023 16:09

At last she's seen sense. This can't go on.

Lozlozbozboz · 26/09/2023 16:12

But English or British itself is a conglomeration of many tribes, it's the melange that makes us what we are!

AIR1904 · 26/09/2023 22:57

She is one of the ugliest people alive in every sense of the word. A vile pig of a Tory.

LaGioconda · 27/09/2023 00:31

I had to turn the TV off when she was on today. The sheer torrent of lies, irrationality and bigotry that spilled out of her mouth was beyond human endurance.

Lozlozbozboz · 27/09/2023 02:03

not just her neck but her whole being

You op are in the minority on immigration. And this has been observed for decades and was a problems with brown and Blair's government too migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/uk-public-opinion-toward-immigration-overall-attitudes-and-level-of-concern/ . Curbing immigration is immensely popular except on the hard left Mumsnet.

"Hard left"? Ahahahaha. Don't be fucking ridiculous.
Yes, we're all secretly Marxists.😂

Newsthump has it:

“Multiculturalism has failed”, insists the mixed-race daughter of two economic migrants of Mauritian and Indian descent. A woman who studied in France, and who married a British Jew on her way to one of the three great offices of state, where she now works for a Hindu prime minister.

This thread sums up what white savior syndrome looks like. The question, why would a child of immigrants want to deport illegal immigrants, just shows how people see children of immigrants. A homogenous group who all think the same, have no agency, and mostly need to be saved and fought for by the moralistic indigenous population. How offensive. I wonder if the progressives realize how this exposes their true internalized racism. They have no interest in the cause, they just do what they think makes them look good.

Didn’t take long. A progressive turns up to call a woman ugly. Why do the left hate women so much. Utterly misogynistic.

I thought that. No wonder female politicians talked about the abuse they receive online and irl

Own goal for women to do it

There is a difference between people who enter the country legally, with the correct documentation and background checks and people trying to enter illegally. Having an open border allowing all people in without the correct documents is very very foolish. If you need that concept explained to you then you lack basic common sense. It's not about racism, it's about national security.

For those at the back/hard of thinking:

It is not illegal to seek asylum. By definition.

Lozlozbozboz · 27/09/2023 12:07

Well she is very ugly looking, but the point is that she is an ugly human being, morally, politically and intellectually

GeriKellmansUpdo · 27/09/2023 12:11

Children of "foreign born" parents is particularly ugly usage. Will only stir up hate.

SB isn't from an asylum seeker background. Her parents immigrated on working visas (her mother, still a valid route today) and by already having a British passport (her father, following colonialism in Africa, which granted British citizenship to Asian people who worked for the British in Africa).

Therefore SB doesn't see herself having anything in common with asylum seekers. Neither she nor her parents were granted asylum here. Why do we think she should, just because she isn't white? I don't see what is surprising. She is a Tory, behaving as Tories tend to do.

This . Mums net is not representative of the population .
The poor will be most effected by uncontrolled immigration not the liberal elite . They will be the ones competing for social housing , they will struggle to get medical help , the Rich will just go private . So for every person advocation mass uncontrolled immigration you are keeping the poor struggling to access basic services .

You are artistically forgetting the fact that, with some very limited exceptions, it is not possible for asylum seekers to enter this country through legal routes. You are also assuming that everyone disagreeing with Braverman advocate open borders, as if that is the only alternative. The very obvious and sensible alternative would be to open up a legal way for asylum seekers to apply, whether through making an application from other countries, offering safe routes for applications to be made on arrival, or a combination of those. It would also of course have to be accompanied by an efficient asylum processing system because, contrary to the assumptions freely made by the right wing, Braverman's opponents don't actually advocate keeping illegal immigrants.

The trouble is that Braverman doesn't think that sensible policies like that will help her in her personal ambitions and, given that her principal appeal is to the hard right, she is probably correct. If she got her way, her supporters would have an ugly shock when they notice how many Rwandans we are admitting under the deal with them and realise that her policies are nothing more than window-dressing and rhetoric.
