Or maybe Tuesday at the latest? Would she really want to face the absolute public humiliation of PMQs on Wednesday?

And the Tory's are doing a great job arent they? They are the ones who have been in power for 12 years, this is their own doing no other party

You don’t honestly think that Labour will do any better? You must be under an illusion!

It is quite hilarious to me the people who think that Starmer & co could do any better at solving the problems than the present government, especially if he had his left wing and Sturgeon round his neck!

I'm glad someone finds this shit show of a government hilarious. Quite frankly I thought the behaviour and judgement of the government over the last few years disgusting and reprehensible and didn't think it could get any lower. Them they gave us Truss.

I'd love to know exactly why you think that they are doing such an amazing job that no other party could better?

Frankly I think you're deluded.

Nope, she will need to dragged off, stage left, with a shepards crook.

🤣😂🤣😂

the visual of that 😂🙂😂🤣

Perhaps you fear they would raise taxes 🤣

I am cringing so hard for Liz Truss.

If I was her and I'd fucked up this badly I would be leaving the country name change the lot 😭

You'd need a whole new voice box too!!

Fortunately the polls don't agree with you. Did you see Starmer's speech at the party conference? How you could put him in the same bracket as Truss is just ridiculous.

You have an odd sense of humour and don’t seem to understand the implications of recent polls. Starmer would have the sort of majority that would let him do anything he wanted to.

BonesOfWhatYouBelieve · 17/10/2022 08:36

Interestingly, Boris Johnson is still living at Chequers, where all these emergency meetings with Hunt were held all weekend. Was he at these meetings too? Or is he on holiday again? He wasn't at PMQ's last week.

He's on holiday in the Dominican Republic. With a mid-holiday break to give a very well-paid speech in the US.

Today… midweek or indeed next week - she will continue to wreak havoc until she goes and we will continue to be the laughing stock of the world stage.
Her departure can’t come soon enough. We need a General Election.

Honestly, I don't think a GE is going to help. Who do Tory's put forward that will inspire confidence & there's no credible opposition.

colddayinhell · 17/10/2022 08:39

Are they going to reverse the removal of bankers bonus cap or are they hoping nobody will notice it's still going ahead?

BonesOfWhatYouBelieve · 17/10/2022 08:39

There's no credible government.

Yucca78 · 17/10/2022 07:28

So true!

Or even worse, the belief that Boris Johnson would be a better option.

Better the buffoon you know, as they say.

faffadoodledo · 17/10/2022 08:41

Starmer's only problem (and it's a massive one) is he has to right the mess left by Truss and Johnson. The polls say he'd have a mandate to do what he likes but my word it'll be messy.

Kellie45 · 17/10/2022 08:41

borntobequiet · 17/10/2022 08:36

Yes, and he wouldn’t be able to do any better because the economic situation would not allow him to deviate from the policies being pursued by Hunt, unless he did what Healey did in the socialist government which was to ‘tax the rich’ which made every entrepreneur flee Britain and actually reduced the net tax income and gave us utter stagnation in the economy.

Illybidol · 17/10/2022 08:41

I think the main difference is their motivation. I know someone who has worked with Tory MPs and every single action they take is driven by how they think it will make them look. They don’t respond to any form of altruistic reward. Apparently the overwhelming majority are arrogant, conceited and narcissistic. The labour leaders may come with their own issues but for the most part they have a desire to create balance, support and fairness. Plus most of them are not coming from the boarding schools that churn out sociopathic narcissists like a factory churning out wild boar sausages or swan or whatever .

GottaGetOutofDairy · 17/10/2022 08:45

Today Hunt is likely to roll back as much of the mini budget as he can. Which is probably the right thing to do but is going to have the effect of meaning mortages and price rises have been hiked up suddenly and unaffordably (for some), pensions have been greatly devalued and without any net change being made to the budget at all.

So the pain of the last two weeks and the ongoing pain of mortgages, pensions and rent will all have been for nothing. She fucked ordinary people's finances, for nothing.

I hope she rots tbh.

Rude, much.
You think people with an alternative view to you are hilarious.

What exactly is so hilarious about the people on this thread?
Why do you think that your opinion is so much better that you can sneer at them?
Why do you think that me reading your words rather than between the lines makes you sound so much better?

You don't think Labour could do a better job, why?

I think they would struggle to do a worse one.

Illybidol · 17/10/2022 08:46

Just to add I know many previously staunch Tory supporters in the middle classes who are now turned labour and would vote as such tomorrow if they could. I think there’s going to be a big change

Hopefully.

Somewhat stupidly, I keep feeling sorry for her parents watching this...

miceonabranch · 17/10/2022 08:47

I reckon she'll last till Thursday.

Exactly this.

queenofarles · 17/10/2022 08:48

They can't sack her, so she has to resign. If she does, she will look even worse. I can’t imagine it looking any worse , she at the bottom worst atm 😵‍💫. I have no idea how she will represent the U.K. in the G20.

GottaGetOutofDairy · 17/10/2022 08:48

And I am growing very weary of being told there is no credible opposition. There is.

They may not represent your particular brand of politics but a significant lead in every poll means they are, at the very least, credible.

I am 42 and I have never seen any politician act like the bunch of self-serving fuckwits in charge right now. We're well beyond it being better the devil you know.

Roll the dice for a different number. I'm game for the gamble.

You obviously haven’t worked with some of the Labour councillors around here! Our own MP is a Tory and a great advance on the last Labour guy who we never saw. I am sure there are good and bad in every party. These wild assumptions don’t help anyone.
