To not change the bed sheets immediately…

... because they have a small amount of dried blood on them as my dog is in season.

My partner was furious when he realised that my Shih Tzu had left a small amount of period blood on our bedsheets. (Two dried spots, one the size of a 50p, one the size of a 20p). I was already in bed, tired having retuned from a week working away, and in the first few weeks of pregnancy.

Parter demanded that the sheets should be changed immediately, I said it would be fine til the morning, but if he wanted them changing that badly he should do it himself.

For context the dog is mine, I've had her since before we met and moved in together.

Not sure if I've set up voting or not but ...

YANBU - it's a small amount of dried blood, the sheets can be changed later or he can do it himself

YABU - that's gross, it's your dog, you should change the sheets immediately

Minging

Topgub · 13/10/2022 21:14

If you're not fussed and he wants them changed, he should change them.

Andypandy799 · 13/10/2022 21:15

@DoreensEatingHerSoreen if it was on his side of the bed I think you should have changed them if it’s on yours I suppose if you can live with it, shouldn’t bother him

Hotandbothereds · 13/10/2022 21:15

Fine if he wanted them changing but why couldn’t he do it himself?

Are your sheets vagina operated rather than penis operated? 🙄

Goldendoodlemum · 13/10/2022 21:15

Yeah, that is a bit gross I'm afraid and my standards aren't high!

Notplayingball · 13/10/2022 21:15

Boak

PriOn1 · 13/10/2022 21:16

Oh dear. How’s he going to cope with a messy baby?

Do you have a spare room? Suggest he makes up the bed there and uses it.

Pebblebeach15 · 13/10/2022 21:16

No one is being unreasonable, everyone has their own standards. It would not bother me , but if the dog was mine and I bothered my husband I would probably change them if it upset him as I know i am more relaxed about these things .

Dotcheck · 13/10/2022 21:16

I think it depends where it is. If it was where you lie- ew, change. If it is in the corner, by feet, and I was reeeeeeeaaaly tired, I may wait

I think this. It's gross, but if it doesn't bother you then he should change it.

Newmum0322 · 13/10/2022 21:17

That’s gross!

MissMaple82 · 13/10/2022 21:17

Urghhhhhh... Wtf changing immediately!!!!

WhatHappenedToYoyos · 13/10/2022 21:17

Sounds gross to me but I agree you could have changed the sheets together or he could have done it. It's definitely not just for you to change them! Been there with pregnancy exhaustion and know what it's like but he won't understand just how tired you feel.

NewYorkLassie · 13/10/2022 21:17

Have you got up so he can change the bedding? Telling him he can do it is fine, but is he supposed to lift you out of the way?

Paperdolly · 13/10/2022 21:17

Gross. Your dog. Your job to change them

milawops · 13/10/2022 21:18

My standards aren't the highest but I would have to change them straight away. To be fair I wouldn't have the dog on the bed to start with if she's in season

butterfliedtwo · 13/10/2022 21:18

Nah, that's gross.

Stressfordays · 13/10/2022 21:18

Meh, I've def thrown a towel over baby pee/sick/poo and gone sleep before 🤣 I'd offer him the chance to change them though

greenacrylicpaint · 13/10/2022 21:19

it's gross to have a pet on the bed. full stop.
yabu
just change the sheet

Midnights · 13/10/2022 21:19

Disgusting tbh, and get your dog spayed!

Era · 13/10/2022 21:20

Truly grim

daffodilandtulip · 13/10/2022 21:21

It depends where it is...corner/edge/below feet area/on the top sheet... or are you actually lying on it...

sazzt · 13/10/2022 21:22

It's gross but early pregnancy exhaustion trumps anything. I could have slept anywhere. YANBU he needs to change it if he's bothered and you're not.

Wafflesnsniffles · 13/10/2022 21:22

Assuming its dry........ its no worse than human period blood. The idea of having a dog in my bed is gross but not a couple of tiny patches of dried blood.
If this is how he is now, how will he cope with baby puke, baby poop, baby milky sick. your boobs leaking overnight. So many more icky things for him to get in a tizz about.

PoseyFlump · 13/10/2022 21:22

Couldn't get worked up about that as long as it's not on pillows etc. If it was the middle of the day I'd say change but you're already in bed and you're tired. If he can't cope with a tiny bit of dried menstruation blood now he's got a hard road ahead of him (unless he's expecting you to do all the dirty jobs)
