To not change the bed sheets immediately…

... because they have a small amount of dried blood on them as my dog is in season.

My partner was furious when he realised that my Shih Tzu had left a small amount of period blood on our bedsheets. (Two dried spots, one the size of a 50p, one the size of a 20p). I was already in bed, tired having retuned from a week working away, and in the first few weeks of pregnancy.

Parter demanded that the sheets should be changed immediately, I said it would be fine til the morning, but if he wanted them changing that badly he should do it himself.

For context the dog is mine, I've had her since before we met and moved in together.

Not sure if I've set up voting or not but ...

YANBU - it's a small amount of dried blood, the sheets can be changed later or he can do it himself

YABU - that's gross, it's your dog, you should change the sheets immediately

I voted YABU because your dog should be spayed, but that aside, your partner should get used to doing housework and being compassionate to you during your pregnancy (and in life generally, of course).

Grim. I don’t think I could physically sleep in a bed with dog blood on it- and it is your dog so I think TBH it’s fair enough that you should change it. I’d also consider keeping the dog off the bed or using a throw on it when the dog is in season.

Tlolljs · 13/10/2022 22:19

Well good for you@Asparagoose
But I wouldn’t let anything or anybody lick my face.

BadNomad · 13/10/2022 22:19

It's not a period. Dogs don't have periods. It's bloody discharge. Discharge.

TheLoupGarou · 13/10/2022 22:19

That's grim. Would change asap

LimpBiskit · 13/10/2022 22:21

Minging

Ladybrrrd · 13/10/2022 22:22

I think it would depend where it was. If it was by my face, I would do it straight away. Otherwise no way after a long day. I've had blood, discharge, spunk, all sorts on the bed for the night and survived. He can do it.

Also not all dogs can be spayed. My bitch never could because of a heart defect.

GreenManalishi · 13/10/2022 22:22

I'd be more concerned about the furious man demanding things from me when I'm early days pregnant and just back from a week working away. I'd have slept in a broom cupboard at that stage.

If this makes him furious, he'd better buckle up for what's to come.

TimetohittheroadJack · 13/10/2022 22:22

it’s a couple of small blood spots, I can’t really see the big deal! What harm could it possibly do?

TenoringBehind · 13/10/2022 22:22

Really grim, and I say that as a dog person.

The123 · 13/10/2022 22:22

If you think that’s minging, you should Google what a limpbiskit is.

The123 · 13/10/2022 22:24

If you don't change the sheets the blood/discharge is going to stain them? I would have got them soaking in cold water.

SpaceyCake · 13/10/2022 22:28

I like dogs but this is rank and made me feel slightly ill. I would say change them together. Team effort and all that.

Mariposista · 13/10/2022 22:33

Come on, it's hardly dirt. What would he say if you leaked onto the sheet during a period (as has happened to every woman at some point). Would he be behaving like a baby over it? Sure, change the sheet at the earliest possibility, but he hardly needs to act s though the dog has shat on the sheet. It's a tiny, tiny amount of blood.

ThatBliddyWoman · 13/10/2022 22:38

Hotandbothereds · 13/10/2022 21:15

Fine if he wanted them changing but why couldn’t he do it himself?

Are your sheets vagina operated rather than penis operated? 🙄

😂
I can see why people are saying gross, because period blood is rather gross no matter what species it comes from however, you were tired, in bed already and what did he think would happen if the sheets didn't get changed until morning? The dog-period monster will come and get you?

Of course dogs have periods, like all mammals. I’m sitting under 3 dogs all vying to be on my knee, so I’m the wrong person to offer a judgement, particularly looking at my filthy floor. If there was lots, I’d probably change it.

missmamiecuddleduck · 13/10/2022 22:39

Is he often furious?

He's welcome to change the bedsheets or is that solely your job too?

pickyourown · 13/10/2022 22:41

🤢🤢🤢

elm26 · 13/10/2022 22:42

My OH has woke up laying in my blood that I've lost during my lovely endometriosis periods and has changed the bed whilst I shower before even getting it off him and he's lovely BUT if our dog leaked on the bed, I would want them changed too asap, this is from somebody who's spaniel sleeps in the bedroom, comes into bed for a cuddle with us every night before settling in their bed and I kiss their face all the time so I'm partial to a bit of germ sharing with my pup.

I don't like the thought of your partner being angry about this? I'm 7 weeks pregnant and exhausted too. I think he should have just offered to change them.

LuckySantangelo35 · 13/10/2022 22:43

PriOn1 · 13/10/2022 21:16

Oh dear. How’s he going to cope with a messy baby?

Do you have a spare room? Suggest he makes up the bed there and uses it.

@PriOn1

your baby’s bodily fluids are a lot easier to deal with than a dogs

No, they don't. Dogs don't menstruate. Dogs have an estrus cycle, i.e. a heat cycle. No periods.

Head end or foot end? Crucial information

@Brigante9

if there was lots of your dogs period blood on your bedsheets youd probably change them

why only probably?!
