To not change the bed sheets immediately…

... because they have a small amount of dried blood on them as my dog is in season.

My partner was furious when he realised that my Shih Tzu had left a small amount of period blood on our bedsheets. (Two dried spots, one the size of a 50p, one the size of a 20p). I was already in bed, tired having retuned from a week working away, and in the first few weeks of pregnancy.

Parter demanded that the sheets should be changed immediately, I said it would be fine til the morning, but if he wanted them changing that badly he should do it himself.

For context the dog is mine, I've had her since before we met and moved in together.

Not sure if I've set up voting or not but ...

YANBU - it's a small amount of dried blood, the sheets can be changed later or he can do it himself

YABU - that's gross, it's your dog, you should change the sheets immediately

That is revolting. I wouldn't sleep in my own dried blood, never mind the dogs. Your dog, your responsibility to clean up after her.

Sackeforbadhips · 13/10/2022 21:37

Blah it wouldn't bother me. I know it would my DH, so I would probably change them.

The123 · 13/10/2022 21:37

Getting the dog spayed isn’t the main issue here. Neither is a bit of blood on the bed ( I mean come on, it’s a tiny bit of dried blood?!?) A partner who can’t recognise this his pregnant girlfriend doesn’t need aggro when she’s exhausted is!

bashual · 13/10/2022 21:37

Utterly minging. Truly disgusting.

Gross. Your dog. Your job to change them

This, nothing to do with your DP.

So he had effectively been in charge of the dog and the house for a week but its now suddenly your problem to fix? Who's to say he hadn't been sleeping with it for the past two nights?

Yeah to be fair though I don't think a man could ever get the bone tiredness of pregnancy. I'm sure he genuinely doesn't realise how tired she is. Having said that mine didn't either but he didn't make me get out of bed to do housework Confused

What a lot of little snowflakes on this thread 😂 do you all realise when you walk on pavements your shoes are touching shit and piss? Better bleach your shoes. Eeww gross 🙄

mondaytosunday · 13/10/2022 21:45

Ha I'd have no problem waiting. It's just a bit of blood!

BrutusMcDogface · 13/10/2022 21:47

I actually didn’t make the link there- you’ve been away for a week; when did the blood happen? While you were away or after you got back?

MysteryBelle · 13/10/2022 21:47

I think it’s very gross and would changed the sheets and can see why your dh was grossed out. But it’s understandable that you are exhausted with travel and early days pregnancy so I think he should have offered to change them himself.

Eh? I don't get into bed in my shoes, then sleep on the sheets. Also I'm not sure where you're walking, but the streets around here aren't covered in wee and poo!

It's not being a "snowflake" to not want to sleep on a dogs period 🤷🏻‍♀️

CosyDarkNights · 13/10/2022 21:48

Gross you let the dog on your bed full stop, ew.

Summerfun54321 · 13/10/2022 21:48

Sleeping on dogs blood!!?? What the hell! Dog owners are absolutely blind to how unhygienic dogs make their homes 🤮 I hope you up your standards by the time baby comes.

OriginalUsername3 · 13/10/2022 21:49

Depends, is it at the foot end or the head end?

Glitterbomber · 13/10/2022 21:50

Disgusting 🤮

oceanskye · 13/10/2022 21:50

I find that totally gross, but if you let the dog in your bed there is already hair/dirt/poo/drool anyway so guess a bit of blood doesn't make much difference.

Hankunamatata · 13/10/2022 21:50

Grim grim grim and I dont have high standards

That’s why shoes are taken off at the door and left on the door mat. I certainly don’t bring my shoes into bed with me. It’s just basic hygiene.

OriginalUsername3 · 13/10/2022 21:51

Although. You're pregnant and tired. Those first few weeks I was exhausted. It's his job whether it's done now or the morning.

Dibbydoos · 13/10/2022 21:52

Hahaha. All these posts about it being minging. Do you realise how much sweat and body cells are on your sheets? Invisible but there nonetheless. A little dog blood that you can see, can avoid and its the end of the world!

YANBU OP by a long shot, what are the blood cells going to do to you? Nothing. Changing the bed esp if you are knackered can wait until tomorrow.

3ShotsOfEspresso · 13/10/2022 21:52

Bit gross but he has physical capacity to change them if he wants.

PoseyFlump · 13/10/2022 21:55

Exactly @Dibbydoos the world has gone germs mad. God knows how these people cope with every day life.

NoSki · 13/10/2022 21:55

Sorry gross.

Stravaig · 13/10/2022 21:56

If it was on his side, why didn't he just put a towel down overnight then change the sheets in the morning?

Why is changing sheets your job?

What if YOU overflow onto the sheets during your period? Does he wake you up and demand you change the sheets in the middle of the night?

What if HE has a wound sustained during some (in his mind) manly activity? I'm betting it's not an emergency biohazard when it's his blood! His response (and many on this thread) seem steeped in ignorant, outdated, misogynist beliefs that women and all their emissions are unclean and evil. Even when it's the period blood of another species! I'm actually embarrassed for people who think like this.

OP, if you want kids, don't have them with his guy. He is not going to cope with the snot, sick, pee and poo that parents are inevitably clarted with.
