Why do women hate an OW?

When a woman is seeing a married man, why do people say they wouldn't want her as a friend, in their lives anymore etc? Why are they judged solely on one thing when there may be so many other positives to their character.

I'm curious really, for the record I'm not an other woman, but my friend is. It's her business and I shall be there when the shit inevitably hits the fan.

If some posters on here had their way, she wouldn't have friends and would be isolated and lonely. I just don't think anyone deserves that when in reality it's the man who has taken vows.

Why am I not surprised that you are unable to have this discussion without calling another woman a cunt?

It was the most apt word for your behaviour in conjunction with the word cheeky.

I call men cunts too incidentally. It's not reserved for women, even if it does refer to female anatomy. Just like people calling ken twats.

LemonDrop22 · 09/10/2022 21:26

*men

Gotskeaswr · 09/10/2022 21:29

‘I call men cunts too incidentally.’

that’s absolutely fucking delightful, nothing like women using the most misogynistic of swear words against women, and men too. How enlightened.
I have nothing against the word being used properly, quite partial to a cunt myself. But as a swear word? Bad enough we have to take it from blokes without women piling in too.

ReneBumsWombats · 09/10/2022 18:25

Why do you think?? Because it fucking suits male adulterers! It blames women and promises them all the punishment and the men all the sex.

Just look it up if you can't see what's wrong with it on its own and find another way to explain why affairs are wrong. It's not that hard!

I have quite honestly never ever thought that phrase blames women.

I see it as blaming the man ... Or more accurately pointing out that that type of man is likely to be a serial adulterer, and that that tyie of man is never satisfied with one woman, but always wants someone on the side alongside his main official partner.

I took it as a warning to women re entertaining or investing in such men.

That is all.

Your interpretation is mind boggling to me.

Gotskeaswr · 09/10/2022 21:33

Women who call women cunts tend to fall in to two categories I’ve noticed
a bit thick and/or
MC women trying to sound ‘edgy’ in some way

lalalololou · 09/10/2022 21:38

You haters must be very lucky to be in such straight forward wonderful and perfect relationships.

It's not black and white. It's not straight forward always, and being OW or OM doesn't make you a bad person with no morals.

People have affairs for a whole host of reasons, I love how you think its wrong when most of you clearly have no clue.

Gotskeaswr · 09/10/2022 21:39

Honestly, some women are just struggling with their own internalised misogyny- you only have to look at some of the language on these threads, aim from women to women.

Really.

I've heard both male and females use this in RL. It seems to be the word of choice for anger, it's overtaken bastard.

It has been in use since the early 13th century, I doubt your pointing out of it being female anatomy is going to change that.

LemonDrop22 · 09/10/2022 21:40

Anyway "promises all the punishment and the men all the sex" ....

But the women are having the sex too (!) The mistress had the sex when cheating with him and even if he leaves (or is left by) wife no.1, marries mistress and sets up another mistress, he's probably still shagging wife no 2. Most adulterers are still shagging their spouse.

This is mind boggling.

And how is the mistress punished .. by being cheated on? Or by being left for the next mistress? Well if you marry a proven cheater, male or female, you probably should expect the possibility of being cheated on.

And as for being left; most men don't leave their wife willingly at all, and he's prob even less likely to bother divorcing wife no 2, with all the financial implications, looking like a fkg mess etc. only ppl who can afford to lose assets again and again - like Sean Bean - bother marrying and divorcing repeatedly or those with no assets.

Gotskeaswr · 09/10/2022 21:41

@ViolinPin yes really.

I call both men and women cunts.

And it's generally the most satisfying expression of my utter irritation, dislike and disgust for them.

As you can see from my writing, I am awfully thick.
And just desperate to be edgy.

Incidentally it's probably a regional thing too.

Gotskeaswr · 09/10/2022 21:48

‘I call both men and women cunts.’

Beautiful. That’s okay then, using misogynistic language against men as WELL as women absolutely makes you dead edgy, and not at all thick.

People in the real.world call men and women cunts, twats, dickheads, assholes, asswipes, tits, wankers etc.

People call (mostly) men ball bags, sad sacks etc.

If it's misogynistic, it's equally misandrist.

Welcome to language.

It'll never change.

Being edgy has not been an aim of mine since .. 19, and I find you trying to say cursing/using typical cursed words and intelligence are mutually exclusive; laughable. I believe Stephen Fry wrote something on the subject.

Do you know there are feminists out there who wish for the term cunt to replace the word vagina ?

The word vagina is latin and refers to a sword/sheath basically a holster for the penis. The vagina refers to the sexual passage from the vulva to the uteterus where the word cunt encapulates the entire area including the sexual pleasure areas.

The labia, pudendum vulva, vagina and clitoris.

Why people do not call people vaginas, I don't know.
It seems the male equivalent prick/cock, knobhead tend to be used with a certain humour to them.

WisherWood · 09/10/2022 22:08

TBH at this stage, I don't think anyone on here is covering themselves in glory.

ViolinPin · 09/10/2022 22:08

Sunday is always a good day to have an argument with an ow 😂

Or an evening .....

LemonDrop22 · 09/10/2022 22:09

It seems to be the word of choice for anger,

It's because it's so hard and bitey and satisfying to say (if angry etc), the hard muh sound and hard tee sound. I don't think people even really associate it strongly with its original meaning. They're not really thinking about vulvas or vaginas (or an owner of one) when they use it.

LemonDrop22 · 09/10/2022 22:10

*kuh, not muh lol

Yes it's the pronunciation, they do it with songs

They put T's in the title or P's as they sound powerful and loud, such as

It's the POWER of love. Hewie Lewis.

Language is powerful.

The Romans had quite a few clit related references and insults. I learned this at a Mary Beard lecture; because "thick" people like me who use the C word love to attend classical history lectures.

You are full of interesting knowledge.

I love that song incidentally. That man has a mind bogglingky winderful voice and singing style.

Yes it goes way back, 1300's in Britain, but much further back Egyptians mention it, but not in a derogative way, it was then I think just anatomical, or even a compliment.
Language changes.

It used to be a popular street name in Britain, Gropecunt Lane was in various places in England.

It's people to people. People debating, disagreeing and getting irritated and angry.

You seem to look for misogyny everywhere, in everything.

My go to for a lower level of irritation or disgust than cunt, is probably "utter wanker" a word much more associated with males and mals masturbation than women .... So apparently I'm struggling with my misandry as well as internalised misogyny. 🙄
