What does the average Mumsnetter look like?

I’ve been on Mumsnet for a long time (under lots of different names) and yet I still really struggle to picture what the average MNetter looks like.

I read threads about things like how most only wear tinted moisturiser and Boden clothes, and because I’m so far removed from that, I can’t picture it.

AIBU to ask you to describe the ‘stereotypical’ MNetter for me? Bonus points for celebrity/stock images for reference.

If you ask me we are a bunch of anxious introverts!

MargotChateau · 01/10/2022 17:14

Hahahah not far off @Romeoalpha

Zofloraeverywhere · 01/10/2022 17:16

This is a recent photo of me in my yellow Joules coat and a Boden dress.

Pick up a bag of potatoes, stare hard inside it. Now imagine all the potatoes staring hard back at you. That’s mumsnet.

You're probably right. So many middle aged men do seem to have joined lately.

.

That made me laugh 😂

Megapint · 01/10/2022 17:19

I imagine the posh, slightly bossy PTA mums. I'm not remotely like that so I don't know why I think that.

TheLoupGarou · 01/10/2022 17:20

Haha! I've met quite a few mumsnetters in real life over the years and can report that they are a mixed bunch, from all walks of life.

Nosecamera · 01/10/2022 17:21

Another tired with fat arse here. Although I do have a tall child.

LBF2020 · 01/10/2022 17:22

Like this apparently. Obviously I'm much more glamorous in my pjs Grin

I think everyone looks like some version of these ladies...

This is not my style at all but now I've reached 50 I think I should possibly be dressing more like that (whatever"that" is??) but I wouldn't even know where to start.

I have never worn an artfully twisted neck scarf in my life nor a striped Boden top with a natty little blazer and straight leg jeans. It's like a uniform for a club I will never be able to enter because I just can't walk away from my beloved oversized hoodie and comfy trainers combo. They will be wheeling me into my care home still wearing my Nike Airs haaaaaa

*I won't tell you what I wrote in Google to get these images 😬

I imagine her as a slim blonde woman driving two blonde primary school age kids to a private school in a 4x4. The kids are both wearing those straw hats that only private schools seem to bother with.

XmasElf10 · 01/10/2022 17:27

Dunno about anyone else but I’m slightly overweight, greying hair, jeans and a blue jumper and no make-up! I’m 45 and mostly I look like I ought to be wearing wellies 😂

Squirrelsnut · 01/10/2022 17:28

I used that website with a photo of me after professional make-up application, and it said Benedict Cumberbatch.

HammerMyhome · 01/10/2022 17:29

According to that website I look like Sandra Oh or Kim Jong Un. Although I am white and look absolutely nothing like them.

snowspider · 01/10/2022 17:30

Lucy and Yak dungarees, stripy shirt from H and M, a dark green Aran sweater bought several years ago from a charity shop, old leather Converse somewhat falling apart, no make up greying long hair in a loose pony tail

snowspider · 01/10/2022 17:31

and size 12

🤣 It told me I looked like David Beckham.

Other than skin colour, everything DB is - I am the complete opposite 🤣

the80sweregreat · 01/10/2022 17:34

In the Late 80s and my now Dh told me I resembled Cybil Shepherd. If you squinted.
These days I just resemble a fat shepherd that's been out with his dog and the sheep for a day over muddy fields. That's on a good day.
I do have a tall son.

hahaha 😂 I feel how that bird look almost 90% of the time
I’m sure that why no one talks to me I get stares when I enter the playground at drop off and pick up 🥳

MintJulia · 01/10/2022 17:35

I've been on Mumsnet off and on for 14 years. Today is a busy Saturday so I'm dressed for practicality:

black M&S straight jeans, a Celtic & Co jumper over a grey t-shirt, and black, heeled ankle boots. Not too scruffy for a weekend. 5'8", size 10, grey eyeliner, peachy shimmer eyeshadow and brown mascara. Short cropped brown hair.

Gold stud earrings and a few laughter lines around my eyes. Generally good humoured and up for a laugh, which I hope shows. 😊

I always imagine Kate Middleton types

Funny, I always picture more Hyacinth Bucket and desperately aspirational types. lower middle class or on benefits

Crikeyalmighty · 01/10/2022 17:41

@Cheeselog That's very like a 37 year old version of me- now 60 so add3 stone , a frown and quite a lot more lines!! Wrap over dresses, leggings, Skechers or boots and various padded coats/jackets

VikingLady · 01/10/2022 17:42

Tall fat ex-goth with an awful lot of menopausal body and facial hair, wearing a mix of Primark and charity shop clothes. But perfect goths hair, nails and eyebrows, so there's that.

I don't shop in Waitrose though. We don't have one here. And I've used food banks in the past, I make my own laundry detergent, sometimes my own clothes, but I definitely can't make a chicken last more than two meals.

And my washing doesn't get darked on. I'm too tired to hang washing out.

CircledbyJupiter · 01/10/2022 17:44

I usually imagine medium length curly hair, boden/joules or aging hippyish vibes, well spoken, quite happily married or onto second marriage, 2 kids (any more would be destroying the planet) have their lives pretty much together.

Personally I’ve long dark hair, facial fillers (shoot me now I know it’s a sin), a fair amount of tattoos, wear mainly black, northern, few kids, single, recovering addict and winging it constantly
