What does the average Mumsnetter look like?

I’ve been on Mumsnet for a long time (under lots of different names) and yet I still really struggle to picture what the average MNetter looks like.

I read threads about things like how most only wear tinted moisturiser and Boden clothes, and because I’m so far removed from that, I can’t picture it.

AIBU to ask you to describe the ‘stereotypical’ MNetter for me? Bonus points for celebrity/stock images for reference.

You’ve described me except I’m menopausal,tired and grey. When the children were younger the clothes were that way because I was too disorganised to make things match and it’s as expedition to the shops. My house is messy.

But they all seem to attract shit men or are men ( I hang out mostly on the relationship boards trying to work out why I attract shit men).

I’ve just done the celebrity look alike thing and I am an ancient, grey male actor….

I’m slightly overweight - completely pre-menopause reason and not that I just ate through covid. I’m to lazy to wear makeup, I probably should as I do seem to scare small children fear increases around Halloween.

I leave my grey roots far to long but neither the time nor funds to get them done as often as I should! As I have a long fuzzy hair it’s also mainly in a bun - again probably should look at curly hair methods but don’t have the energy.

I imagine posters to be middle aged, wearing sensible clothes that we think look presentable and even dare I say it stylish but nobody else thinks so 😀
Bit overweight, appreciate nice food, constantly tired and our hair is tied up in one of those ponytail/buns that look like neither but we use a pair of sunglasses to try to elevate it.

But in our minds we look stylish!

Keeley Hawes looks like a typical, comfortably off British woman. She's kind of what I picture you 'orrible lot to look like.

I suspect most mumsnetters these days are in their 30s and don't wear Boden or Sea Salt. The demographic has changed over the years I think.

I imagine everyone is either Julia or Amanda off motherland 🤣, I'm neither really but it's just what I imagine in my head. It really throws me when someone much older posts, unless people explicitly say I imagine everyone is the same age as me.

I do look like Keeley Hawes' uglier half-sister. Cheekbones rather obscured by menopausal chub now.

It’s a huge site, posters from all over the UK, Ireland, and internationally. I do see a disheartening (in my view) number of recommendations for styling dresses with trainers and denim jackets though, so in parts that must still be a strong look.

The only exception is I'm very aware I'm not stylish because I'm usually on my way to or from the yard and therefore in riding clothes with varying amounts of mud depending on the season!
